Catherine O'Hara is a legend. She nails the possession scene and plays a great yuppie scum, ha ha.
"I will go insane and I will take you with me!!!" I love her so much.
And she is going to be back in the new one! I am so hyped!
The moment she sits up in the bed, lipstick all over the place, eyes closed to turn off the moaning ghosts and then dropped back into sleep without a beat I found the other half of my soul.
And she has a lovely singing voice….
I freaking love her. She was fabulous in Schitts Creek
Everyone loves Michael Keaton as Batman, but I think this is his best role. I can watch that graveyard scene over and over.
SAME HERE!!! 💜💜🥰🥰🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 "Nice f#@$ing model" honk honk lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 CLASSIC!!!
Beetlejuice walked so Batman could run. Without the success of this movie, Batman 89 would be very different or not around at all
for sure, Keaton was pretty epic in the Beetlejuice role.....just like Nicholson as the Joker
@@topfacemodTotally agree. The "wanna get nuts" scene in Batman is Beetlejuice showing his face
Multiplicity was really good to, he was hilarious in that one
Fun fact - When Michael Keaton was screaming and saying “nice fucking model”, he was actually pissed off that day. He literally vented it out with that dialogue.
@@NocturnEternal yeah he was upset and when the model tree fell over it wasn't supposed to so he ad-libbed the line iconic line that every kid was going around repeating afterwards 😂
@@nicolesaunders2964 Facts. It took a couple of slaps from my mom to make me realize I shouldn’t have been saying that word as a kid. 😊
I remember the weekend it came out. I was 9. My older brother went to see it. He came home and said it was really good. The next thing he said was that line. So funny! 😂
Your jump scare when Geena Davis rips her face off had me rolling 🤣
Hey, he said STFU about that!😅
30:25 A lot of people wonder why the Maitlands start shrivelling up during this scene; what's happened is that the spectacularly incompetent Otho tried to do a séance, but he accidentally started an exorcism instead. The film only really gives you one proper clue to work this out, and it's *way* earlier on; when they see what exorcised ghosts look like in the "Lost Souls Room." There's also the pun Beetlejuice makes, "I think they've had enough exorcise for the night," but it's easily missed because the pronunciations are so similar. The only other hint you get is that the handbook he's working from is ambiguously written and really easy to misinterpret, "like stereo instructions."
Man I loved the Beetlejuice cartoon. When I was a little kid I'd have to go with my grandmother to get her hair done, and they'd let me sit in the break room of the salon and watch tv. Every time she went would be the time the cartoon came on, so I loved going. Also, the salon floors were tiled black and white and made me think of Beetlejuice. Good memories.
I love how people never realize that Betelgeuse is basically a reject in his own movie. He's an out-of-pay worker who just wants to make a deal, but people keep screwing him out of said deals. He has low hygeine and a bit of lewd behavior, but when you live on the streets, working hand-to-mouth for decades, that tends to happen.
Betelgeuse is actually the name of a star. It's the second brightest star on Orion's belt.
And may, or may not, be in the process of going nova.
It's not on Orion's belt. It's a red super giant, and is what would be Orion's right shoulder.
@@douglasiles2024 and Ford Prefect is from a planet somewhere in the vicinity.
The Frighteners with Michael J Fox is another classic ghost movie thats both funny and spooky
Oh yes please
RIP Harry Belafonte.... some of the best music EVER!
A wonderful person as well.
The possessions with his music are some of my favorite parts of the movie ❤❤❤
First off, congrats on being able to do this full time, I’m sure it’s a lot of fun!
Secondly, fun fact - at the end of the scene where the party guests dance to Harry Belafonte around the table and they get attacked by the shrimp cocktail - that actually had to be filmed in reverse because the people who were the shrimp hand puppets were having difficulty finding the faces of the party guests so that they could grab on their faces and push them back from the table. So, they filmed it with their hands on their faces first, and then the party guests act surprised, and then the hands return back to the shrimp bowls. I hope that makes sense!
Wow not even being sarcastic that is an interesting trivia to be able to have in my random trivia knowledge of assorted various stuff.
You were so happy to see that puppy and then looked what happend
Which could have been avoided if they kept their eyes on the road - J
@@EOMReacts true but the puppy threw off the weight of the board keeping them up, and that creek wasso shallow the car didn't even sink I don't rhink they had much will to live
Music by Danny Elfman. He has collaborated with Tim Burton in most of his movies.
Once you start to recognice his style, you realize Danny Elfman is the star of every Burton movie.
OINGO BOINGO!!!
When they were marketing this the suits kept complaining, "The only people who will watch this is depressed teenage girls who wear all black" and Tim Burton just said to the scriptwriter, ". . . Well who the fuck do they think we made it for?"
"Daylight come and-I wanna go home." 🎶😂
The dude outside the barber shop is the greatest actor to ever set foot on screen.
I dont care how many times I see it, but when she turns around & that beetle is sitting cross-legged in that chair, throws a leg up, waves & casually says, "Hi, how are ya?", it cracks me tf up EVERY TIME..🤣
That & "No, ya don't..wanna..talk ta BARBRAAA!" through clenched teeth..😂 Well, & the honk..😉🤣
I always lose it at the perfect expression of absolute *horror* on Otho's face when he gets zapped into wearing a polyester leisure suit! Glenn Shadix deserves an Oscar for that moment.
You know why you can do this full time? Because you’re one of the best at it. Congratulations.
I’m so hyped for the sequel. Micheal Keaton said all along that Beetlejuice was his favourite role and he was always up for a sequel. The whole cast was great at their roles. My fave film ever!
“I thought that was Billy D Williams..” 😂
Now I’m imagining Robert Goulet as Lando, and it kind of works. Maybe not every time, but it works.
"6:45 in the morning whatever happens to ya is God's will" 😂😂 Omg that is good sh
One of my earliest memories is seeing Beetlejuice with my parents at the movies when I was five. This will always be my favorite Keaton performance. Jay, I didn't think you'd take those scares as hard as you did.
"NICE F-IN REACTION!!"🔉HonkHonk
Congrats being able to do this full time, I'm looking forward to more reactions with you! 🎉
Crashes where a car goes into the water are a big issue. Even a minor crash can keep you from opening the door and end up drowning. Let alone being upside down, underwater and maybe concussed from the fall.
The sinking car can also create suction that keeps you from swimming up
But the wondrous were open so opening the door wouldn't be that hard. Now it could be that they were injured in the fall or maybe stuck in their seat belts.
@@3DJapanbeing the car flipped upside down, their full weight would have locked the seatbelts preventing them from releasing, the windows being open would only mean their heads would be immediately submerged in water, and being disoriented from the flip, they would have little time to struggle to counteract their weight locking the seatbelts and escaping.
Two words..... Broken... Necks.
😳
Beetlejuice might be THE BIGGEST menace in movie history
He's pure chaos.
Maybe, but his weakness is too absurd. Chaos should not be able to be controlled.
Great reaction. I love the afterlife waiting room. The costumes are imaginative and are individual because all of the character’s’ deaths were different. This film introduced me to Harry Belafonte’s fabulous music.
I love how Burton found a way to honor Harry and introduce his sounds to a new generation. Everyone was rocking out to "Day-O" after this.
The magicians assistant's severed legs still being animated is a great gag. I always wanted to see her get up and walk away. Hopefully they go bigger with a mix of practical and cgi for some great dead folk in the sequel.
Isnt the receptionist Salma Hyack?
@@SurvivorBri His music is played in the background in several scenes. Winona Ryder hovering and dancing to “Jump in the Line’ was fun.
Congrats on your success, my friend. You & Blank are incredible & have worked hard to build this amazing channel. You both have earned & deserve it. Same for your co-pilots!
One of my favorites to watch around Halloween . . . along with "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark", the two "Addams Family" movies, and "The Return of the Killer Tomatoes".
@TheBackLibrary
Great list! Especially the 2 "Addams Family" movies.
My Halloween list includes "The Crow" & "Hocus Pocus".
Don't know if you're familiar with the TV series "Angel" but there was an episode revolving around a Halloween party that was hilarious (especially if you know the characters). Pure fun & chaos & usually a part of my Halloween.
🧡🎃👻
@@deborahcornell171 , I'm familiar with the series, but never really watched it (except in passing). I'll have to check it out sometime.
Return of the Killer Tomatoes is so funny! And who doesn't love Elvira?
So you like soft horror. Not sure if you know but there are 2 Elvira movies. (Though I can't remember the second title.)
Michael Keaton was a crew member on "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" before becoming an actor. And he even appeared in a couple of episodes.
I've watched Beetlejuice I don't know how many times I never knew it had jump-scares until your reaction
Interesting you didn't recognize Catherine O"Hara as Delia since she was Kevin's mom from Home Alone. That dinner scene is classic and is my favorite scene of the film. Yeah, Beetlejuice is raunchy comedy. Not all elements of his character would be shown in a children's animated show.
Can attest that, when watching this as a small child for the first time, the animated shrimp cocktails scared the SH*T out of me. That's the Large Marge Moment of the movie, honestly. Tim Burton is surprisingly good at them, at least in the Eighties to Nineties days.
I watch this film every year on Halloween...
It's an absolute Classic.
I cannot wait to watch the sequel
One of the best movies ever made and personally one of my favorites
Jay, Brother you crack me up on some your ' jump's ' LMAO... I enjoyed the movie with you, keep running those movies
Mr Mom, Gung Ho, and Johnny Dangerously are some of Michael Keaton's best comedies. And they all came from the 80's.
36:22 that's how the song ends, they didn't cut it off.
“I’m not your coach! He survived!”😂
I got my notification 45 minutes late! here we go beetlejuice beetlejuice beetlejuice. hahahahaha
This has been one of my favorite movies since I was 12 years old and I am 45 now and still love it just as much as I did then. The whole cast gave it their all and it was the best. Michael Keaton makes me so happy. 😂
Congrats so much on the success of the channel I have loved watching the growth. Keep being you and it will continue to shine through. ❤
I was pretty sick as a baby and my mom told me that I was crying all day and night until one day she put on Beetlejuice and I stopped crying immediately. Love this movie so much.
So, a few observations and all that - I'm sure other people have already pointed them out, but I don't want to scroll.
1) Betelgeuse is a red supergiant star which is on the brink of self-destruction via supernova. We'll probably barely miss it in our lifetime, but when it goes, it will be bright enough to see in the daytime. It's one of Orion's shoulders, you can't miss it.
2) Harry Belafonte's music is used extensively in the soundtrack, which was a nice choice. The man was a treasure. His Calypso album was the first LP to sell a million copies (and it's a banger front-to-back, not just Day-o). He bailed MLK out of jail. He fought for civil rights and social justice hit entire life. May he rest in power.
3) Yes, Michael Keaton is brilliant in this. He's also brilliant in Mr. Mom, an 80s comedy that people seem to have forgotten about.
4) So glad the channel continues to see more and more success. You deserve it.
5) Pet the copilots.
Ok, back to the movie.
Betelgeuse is the the correct spelling for the reddish colored star in the constellation Orion. It’s been in the news lately because scientists think it is close to going supernova. That’s where they got the name.
J, I love the Dr. Claw shirt! You had a hilarious reaction to this, I loved how often you were jump-scared in this. Excellent editing, Blank and I'm ecstatic you guys are able to do your channel full time now. God bless you guys with excellence!
I absolutely adore you! You’re my favorite reactor! You have me laughing my face off every time! Congratulations to you and Blank!! You sooo deserve everything wonderful you receive. Not only with the channel. But in your life❤❤
About Otho: "I hope he dies!"
Well, he does suffer a fashion death...
Not sure if someone answered this for you but the actor who played Lydia's dad is the principle in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Love your reactions, keep up the quality content!
He was also in Howard the Duck.
@paullanier3597 that's right!
.
I recommend you react to more (Comedy/Horror) :

*The 'Burbs* (1989) /starring *Tom Hanks*
🔥
*The Frighteners* (1996) /starring *Michael J. Fox*
LOVE The Frighteners! Directed by Peter Jackson who did Lord of the Rings. Michael J. Fox, Dee Wallace Stone, Jake Busey, R. Lee Ermey. So good.

Oh, yes! The 'Burbs.... "Sardine?" That scene puts me away every time.
@@wendywoodruff2871 Also another movie scored by Danny Elfman :-)
🙏 *Thank you Murder Whistle. We appreciate you just as much you appreciate us. You’ve more than earned this chance to go full time and we are happy for you. Always a joy watching movies with you.*
I love it when Geena Davis took her face-off just to see your scary surprised face moment. Almost let off a drip drip. Hahahahaha!!!
We need a shut up! Counter 😂❤🤣😂
how many shut ups were there?😂😂😂
Watching this after seeing the latest Beetlejuice 2 trailer, and I’m so excited! Looks like a great sequel to this absolute gem!
I used to watch the cartoon too! Such a funny show. 😂
We used to watch this movie almost everyday at the video store I worked at back in the late 80s. We'd get yelled at by parents when he'd say, "Nice fucking model!"
Between my VCR copies of this and Ghostbusters, between my brother and I, I think we shaved years off that player on those two movies alone.
Classic film! Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice only has about 17 minutes of screen time, and steals the whole movie. I can watch a million times and will probably never get tired of it.
The dad in this movie was the principal in Ferris Bueller. His wife is played by Catherine O'Hara, who is also in Schitts Creek, which of you haven't watched you need to
She was also Kevin's mom in the "Home Alone " movies...
He was also in Howard the Duck.
My favourite thing in the world right now is watching you jump 🤣🤣 has me in stitches every time 💜
BEETLEJUICE 2
SEPTEMBER 6 !!!
Congratulations on getting to do your reactions full-time! You and Blank deserve every bit of success you've earned for all the entertainment and enjoyment you've provided to folks. Best wishes for your journey, and I can't wait to see what comes next (besides the 50k threshold).
I love the idea put forth in this movie that if you end your own life your fate is to be stuck working as a government bureaucrat. If you look at everyone working in the afterlife theyre all self-enders
It’s less obvious with the flattened messenger, but that does mean he must have deliberately jumped into traffic. I have to wonder if he had his macabre (but silly) sense of humor when he was alive, or developed it afterwards.
Makes me wonder what Beetlejuice did to himself, since he used to be Juno's assistant 🤔
@@LordVolkovGiven the nastiness around his mouth, I'd have to guess poison. Or possibly over-indulging on booze. He seems like a goodtime guy.
I can't wait for the sequel!!!
Loved the reaction, as always. I wanted to say Congrats to you on all your success and getting to do this full time. It is nice to see people like you have success and enjoy what they do and appreciate your community. Looks like 50k subs is right around the corner from you. Much love and respect from Texas.
This was one of my favorite movies as a kid!! Your censor being the book of the dead is hilarious
Dang it. Missed the live because of internet issues.
The dude you thought was Billy Dee Williams is Robert Goulet. He was a singer/actor.
"Why is she dying again?" Because that wasn't a summoning, it was an exorcism.
15:39 Juno, the receptionist, are all suicides. Juno slit her throat, so she's a case worker, the other lady slitnehr wrist so receptionist. All the office workers of the netherworld are lol. Makes you wish to be alive, huh?
I believe he spells it beetleguise because he's not allowed to tell people his name. Which is why he had to do the game of charades with Lydia. Also the dad was the principal in Ferris Buellers day off. J and Blanc you the goats much love as always.
Did I hear you say you've gone fulltime YT now? Congrats!🎉❤
Jeffery Jones (Mr. Deetz) was in several movies; his most iconic was Ferris Buller's Day Off, he played the principal!
Congrats on doing this full time!! I enjoy your reactions so much and it's genuinely because you get scared but it's the giggles for me!! I find myself cackling when you giggle!! Thanks for bringing joy into my day!!

The mom is Catherine O'Hara, one of THE BEST comediennes out there.
After years of great performances in film & on TV, her crowning achievement so far is her role on "Schitt's Creek"..Moira is one of the funniest & most memorable characters in TV history. Those 2 Emmys for Best Actress in a Comedy Series are well deserved.

Bruh I was eating when that guy jumped out right after the lady ripped her face off and I swear I almost choked to death on my food from laughter
The dad from this movie, Who is also in Ferris Bueller’s Day off which some other people mentioned- he has child exploitation material charges. He was also in Howard the Duck- the first Marvel movie that everyone forgot. I do like Howard the Duck, it’s absolutely ridiculous. Definite cocain cabinet movie.
Teehee. The fact that you know what jelly shoes are! 😂
Hilarious reaction to one of my favorite movies. Thank you for this one. I needed it!
Ever wonder what Otho's last name is? He says it while going up the stairs after the Day-O scene. He says "Otho Fenlock's Locked-door Ghosts."
Mr murder whistle it's so nice to see you I enjoy your reactions so so much you always make me laugh I'm so glad I found your Channel what you said about the puppies crack me up because Drogo went out of the room and and the other puppy was pouting that is so adorable you have some of the best reactions I have ever watched I will never leave this channel please keep them coming I'm a huge fan thanks for all you do have a blessed day!!!
Betelgeuse managed to show himself as a snake because when Barbara said his name the first time, she didn't put him back. She just said "home" three times, instead. That's why she had to run out while he was a snake and say his name three times again, to put him back in the model. If she had just done that while they were in the model the FIRST time, he wouldn't even be present to BECOME a snake. That's explained by Juno. "You let Betelgeuse out, and you didn't put him back, and you let Otho get hold of the handbook."
That “nice fuckin model” line was adlibbed because the tree wasn’t supposed to fall lol
Congrats on all of your success J, you deserve every bit of it and more.
They have rebuild the house in East Corinth,VT where they are filming Beetlejuice 2.Also they rebuild the covered bridge and the Maitland store. The filming started about two months now before the strike halted production.
7:20 ferris buellers day off is where you’ve seen him. The woman next to him is from home alone 1&2.
Part 2 is filming now. A guy on RUclips showed them rebuilding the town exactly how it was.
9:40 Saturn. When a ghost leaves their haunting perimeters, they slip through space onto Saturn..
And yes, she did.
She punches the sandworm abd then rides the sandworm later.
Hey Jay. Fun fact: I don't know if anybody here told you this. But that is how you spell Betelgeuse. The name wasn't or isn't random. There's actually a bit of a back story to it. But, for just the movie and namesake. It's the name of a constellation the character is named after.
I did a bit of a deep dive of it about 10 years ago, cuz I was starting to right a fan-fic horror version of it. Not thinking there could be a sequel they been talking about for over 30 years now 😂😁
Have you tried going into your EQ or whatever for your headset and try to set the settings to where the music doesn't come in so loud and it startles you but can keep the dialogue high enough to hear it???
