This is what helped make Motown so special!
To this day Martha Reeves has such an excellent, confident and poised speaking voice so the training definitely helped her.
True that! And Martha Reeves has also acknowledged Maxine Powell for what she taught her, in interviews.
Her hat is so chic!
Incredible woman
I met Mrs. Powell earlier this year. She is class personified!
R.I.P Maxine
They don't make 'em like they used to. What a fabulous tip for Martha Reeves or anyone who is sort of moody or cross In the morning.
Has there been a book published on Ms Powells life and works?
What a common sense, to the point approach to coaching! Love Maxine!!
If wise was a person
I think Motown did more for black people than the Civil Rights movement itself. Mrs. Powell is one of the biggest reasons why.
Regarding the Queen and Mrs. Obama, the next day the Queen issued a statement that Mrs. Obama was expressing spontaneously friendship and no offense possibly could be taken. She did not touch the Queen inappropriately but put her arm around her shoulder. The Royal Family isn't much concerned with protocol, the exception being Princess Anne, and that is not a matter of ego but her known her royal station is important in getting contributions to and participation in the zillion charity and service organizations of which she is patron. She is involved in each and every organization, not just a figurehead, too. Anne is known for her intelligence, research of every subject about which she speaks, great humor and down to earth persona. She also is known for her stylishness.
