the "armed guards" are law abiding citizens. They had to take an 8 hour security guard training course online but probably can be done in half that time or less. So that is the way to go. In fact, that would be a great business opportunity in Cali. Start and armed guard company then advertise in conservative niches that you can get concealed weapons permits for law abiding citizens. If I lived in Cali I would do it. Fortunately I don't.

Back in the 70's, Ernest Callenbach wrote a book entitled, Ecotopia. It's where a wall is built, that separates California, and western population from the eastern US, because of their, polluting ways. No one from the E. side is allowed to enter the West side, for twenty years. Finally, a reporter from the east side is granted entrance to the west side, so he can do a story, on how Ecotopian, and perfect, the west side has become. That book should be, required reading for every politician in the West, at least for those that can read. I read it, back in the early 80's, and I thought it was kinda funny. Today, it's a barrel of laughs, especially about California, and what comes out of it, and what pollutes it....................

As a Canadian, I will never forget the two summers I spent just north of San Francisco in San Rafael, California. The summers of 1977 and 1978. I was there when Elvis died Auugust 16, 1977. If I could have shown you a more idealic place in North America at that time, it probably would have had to have been paradise. I turned 11 and then 12 during those 2 summers, and I was doing my diplomatic service for the family, strengthening ties , visiting my Grandmother.
The weather. The rolling hills. The Ocean. The multicultural melting pot of San Francisco. Although i didnt come from a terrible place, I grew up and still live in the Toronto area, I definitely felt some jealousy towards my American friends in that area. After all, compared to where i came from, the people in the San Francisco area barely experienced a cold day. Not compare the my winters, where i regularly experienced -20°C. I was blond, but not the blond those kids were.
At the time, when Grandma and I went downtown, I never saw a bad or poor area. It was extremely picturesque, and afluent.
What a mess its turned into these days. The liberal mindset is completely confused and the reluctant attitude of these people to work is pathetic. Ive had a job since ive been 13 years old. I worked my way through High School. Had summer jobs, and have nevr stopped working. I wonder to myself, what became of those people that impressed me so much?

As a born and raised San Franciscan, it's heartbreaking to see the destruction of a once wonderful city! As kids living in North Beach, my sister's and I at 8 years old could go anywhere, anytime, day or night without fear! I haven't lived on the Peninsula for 16 years for economic reasons.......even if I won a lottery, I wouldn't return to a once beloved city by the bay. Unfortunately, this is an entire "Left Coast" decline in society!

This brought more crime and convinced even more people to leave. Remember - at one time Detroit was amongst the richest cities on planet earth.

To progress up the ranks or specialist departments, you had to be experienced and had proven yourself. Now, they accept anyone, people are given specialist jobs based upon factors such as gender and race etc. The public are always easy to blame/but not willing to do, they record police and defend the career criminal always. The legal and prison system is a joke. So, a friend of mine, who works in a different industry, was shocked at my salary and asked why I did it, as it is not worth it. Now I am planning my exit strategy. I am the wrong colour, race, gender etc, despite having worked hard, exemplary service, 2 Masters Degrees etc.

They wanted to visit San Francisco. I was adamant that I would not ever visit that city again for as long as I live. I took them to Marin Headlands, toured the Nike site, Kirby Cove, Battery Townsley, and we camped at Samuel P. Taylor park under very tall redwood trees instead. While I was at work one day, they decided to take their rental car to see San Francisco despite my warnings. While they were at Fisherman's Wharf, their rental van was broken into and their suitcases were stolen. They lost everything, laptops, clothing, medications, personal items. They wasted a lot of money and time replacing these things. I had warned them. They thought that hiding everything under an open sleeping bag would save them from theft.
