I need to do this to my 94. The guy I bought it from had it for all of a month and knew nothing of the service history so I've been slowly going over everything
Sorry- I hardly ever look at the comments - There is a temperature sensor that screws into the thermostat housing. The housing should connect to the upper radiator hose. I would check this connection and trace it on back if you need to. If the connection is good, it could be the sensor. Hope this helps- on some models the temp sensor screws into the radiator next to the water hose-
Thanks for the video. Just did this on my 95 Vulcan 750 and it was super easy
Thanks for the video, I'm going to change my coolant these days, and this really helped!
Great to hear!
Thank you for your effort and clear advice.

Awesome job thanks
after crying, fluid is escaping from this hole next to the screw. any idea why?
My temperature gauge stopped working. Any advice? Does it have a fuse or plug/wire where it might have gotten loose?
Best to use the center stand for this procedure
My bike is a 2006 year model.
