Much respect for someone who can totally disassemble a motorcycle and put it back together without having a bunch of leftover parts like I would 👏

They are great bikes. I'm in the middle of restoration of my 82 fxrs. Can't wait to see it all done. Great video where did you source most of your parts from?

Great video! I was really looking forward to how you were going to deal with the wet sumping tube routing issue. Did you end up routing it back to the air filter can? I have an 82 FXRS with it being routed out along the back suspension arm and then through a filter. I was really curious what your solution was. Nice Job!

When I retired last year I wanted an old shovel. I'm an old FLH guy and found a beautiful 71 mostly original. She's almost finished now runs beautiful with the original early Bendix carb throttle wire ! You're very anil like I am but I have to ask why did you miss match the tire's!!🤷 The rear looks like a Avon and you put a Dunlop on the front! Would like to know what motor specs you used?

I had a '82 FXRS in 1982.. Hated it! Was as close to an oversized Sportster as you get.. Squirrelly as hell and ugly.. Hated it

Bought my first Harley when I turned 19 - a 1981 Candy Red FXWG Wide Glide early November 1982. Good thing it had forward controls, because the rear cylinder exploded due to HD boring out the 74" cylinders to 80" and not leaving enough wall thickness were the base bolt relief cuts were made. Spent all winter in my Ohio basement stripping it to the frame and wiring harness. Engine was at a local speed shop getting a S&S 96" Stroker, solid lifters and Andrews C grind cam. Sent every part and fastener I could to Brown's Plating for over $2000. Put it all back together in late February. Had that bike through my Navy years and sold it in 1998 when I got my Fatboy. Had to wrench on that Shovelhead every weekend...

Thought I'd let you know, if you wanted to put those amber reflectors that came on the side of the fork tubes back on; simular to the red ones on rear fender struts, they still make them. PN 59254-91

The FXRS of the FXR family had taller suspension! The shocks on the bike are not factory. Standard FXR's sat lower.

How would you like to work next to this guy for a week or two? He is an encyclopedia of knowledge that only few in this world have. I’m 58 and been at it awhile. This guy is crazy good!! Cheers!

Nice video My friend Mike and I went for a ride on our Hondas in Jan. of 1982 ,snow on the ground but nice (in the 40's) he had a CB750 and I had a Goldwing. When we got back we had such a good time we swore we would never sell our bikes , then in March we visited a Harley dealer in Madison Wisconsin.Mike bought a FXRS and I bought a New Sportster roadster , goodbye Hondas! By July we had over 10,000 miles Both were great bikes.

Not good to put the pivot axle (swing arm axle) in bone dry. Should have SOME type of lubricant either anti seize or grease. I'd consider removing it and doing so otherwise you'll be beating it out with a long drift (punch)
