It’s a great thing that you all did for the world and thank you….. It’s also good so more people know what MAC-V-SOG did and all those lost in all military are remembered. man may be killed but they live forever in our hearts thank you
“If you can say the word: good. Guess what? That means that you are still alive, that means that you are still breathing. And if you are still breathing... well now... you still got some fight left in you. So get up, dust off, reload, recalibrate, reengage... and go out on the attack.” -Jocko Willink
E.g.: Major studies indicated that the 'fight' attitude is the wrong one to have when dealing with medical conditions. You can't fight cancer away nor fight your ancle to heal faster. This man is a soldier. Great example of: If your only tool is a hammer, every problem has to look like a nail.
@@cameronadkins6268 Well, pretty much. It’s an extremely low chance to survive, and all the pain would go away anyways. Saying the stuff you saw on some motivational speech won’t help you when you’re literally dying.
@@potatoboy549 you're both misunderstanding the "fighter" attitude of the good mentality. Only a fool would think he can beat the natural flow of time and life. Beating cancer once you got it is obviously mostly about luck and how early it was detected. The good mentality isn't about fake motivation and stupid speeches, it's about how you must take in information and act accordingly to solve problems without getting trapped in negative thoughts. It's about reacting to a problem immediately instead of overthinking it. In the case of cancer there aren't many practical solutions that you can figure out yourself and if its spread too much the only thing left do do is to cope with it and embrace death. I don't really see how the good mentality wouldn't help you there
I referenced this at my grandpa’s funeral today, and I got a lot of “thank you” comments after. I said, “Death is sad, and I miss him. But the GOOD is that he’s not in physical pain anymore, and he’s with my grandma again. Focus on the good in a situation, and you won’t have time to focus on the bad.” I admit, I cried when I said this. But I meant it. Every single word of it.
I learned this lesson very deeply during some of my childbirths. The first couple times, I was terrified. I was running away from the pain, and panicking inside. I thought I needed a rescuer. “Give me an epidural! HELP!!!” (escape) But by the 3rd time I was learning that there was no escaping it, and what needed to happen was not going to be helped with any amount of medication. Only God Almighty himself, me, and my baby could get this done. (resignation) By the fourth time, I was beginning to understand that there was more to this than surviving. (hope) I’m a slow learner. The fifth time I left the hospital out of it. This time, with no I.V., no monitors, no medications, just myself, my baby, God, and my friends and family, I finally met my power. No escape? No help? (good) The sixth time was the one that changed me the most. I’ll never be the same. This baby came fast, there was no time for a midwife to arrive. It was me, alone in the bathtub. Even if we had wanted a medical birth, there was no way an ambulance could have gotten us to a hospital in time. It was a GOOD thing I was prepared and knew what to do. She got stuck (shoulder dystocia). After two full blown, hardcore, full push contractions with her face out (yes, posterior, face presentation, with the cord around her neck) and she couldn’t descend another centimeter, I knew she was stuck and it was shoulder dystocia. (good) I knew in that instant, we could call 911, and she’d die before they got there. I remembered what I had read about doing in this situation, leaned forward on my hands and knees, relaxed my belly and let her weight hang for a moment, and arched back in cat/cow stretches, literally rocking my hips using “the same motion used to get her in, to get her out” . I was deep in prayer. Groans of utterance only the LORD knew. And He was there, holding us in the palms of His hands. With the next contraction, I pushed with all of my strength, and she was also pushing with all of hers, literally kicking and fighting for her life. And she was born. God Almighty and I both know that there’s no chance she could’ve had a safe and natural birth in a hospital. They would’ve had me flat on my back in stirrups trying to do the impossible until they finally decided to cut me open. Thank God I knew how to LEAN INTO the pain. Chase it down. Seek it out, and don’t let go. Thank God I was done trying to run away and escape. It’s the difference between being the hunted or the hunter. If we’re afraid of the challenge before us, that’s fine, as long as we use that fear as the fuel we need to face it and overcome it.
Maybe if they would spend less time watching and playing video games and concentrate on something to truly improve themselves, they would get it. I'm not perfect, I know that, been there a long time, pay's not great but the hours are wonderful, but I know I am not great but I continually try to improve myself.
naw man that's not how it works. You could say "GOOD! Saving band width" or something. But this is not a benefit which comes from the "bad" situation (no 1080p).
It's Saturday night. I'm lay in a hospital bed. On Monday I had my lower left leg amputated after a motorcycle accident a few years back that I didn't heal from. This whole week I've been using the furniture in this room to lift and curl and press. I've attached resistance bands to my bed and I've been doing laps of the ward as fast as I can in my wheelchair. There are no negatives here. The phantom pains have kicked in today. They're savage, but I'm just smiling and accepting it because I know that I win in the end. They're here now, but they won't last. I will. All is good.
I feel you, watching Jocko's podcast gave me a fire for life and self-improvement that I never knew existed. It made me want to crush life like the fist of an angry god.
Man, hearing Jocko makes me miss my dad. My dad overcame every illness he had, until the cancer got him. Over the course of 20 years since his early 30's until his early 50' he went through a lot. Went through two heart attacks, and survived; then through a coronary artery bypass surgery , and survived,;then went through a stroke, and survived; then went through a major stroke and had to relearn to walk talk and eat. He went through all this and recovered each time, not 100%, but enough that he can be autonomous. He never doubtet he would get better. RIP dad.
I got fired from my job. I Walked into this next job asking for an Interview *8 times* before I got hired. This job is 100x better than the last. *Good* thing I got fired.
This year: - my wife left me (good, now I have the opportunity to meet the person I'm supposed to be with and it taught me to appreciate people whilst they're in my life) - I didn't get the training contract I applied for at work (good, now I'm clear that I must take the alternative path to qualify as a lawyer) - my nan died (good, now she's at peace and no longer has to battle every day just to eat and speak and not fall over. Also my mum no longer has to work herself to death as a carer every day) - I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic and it caused adult acne to appear all over my face and head and I went temporarily blind and my feet swelled and were agony (good, now I know that I'm allergic to that drug and I appreciate my sight and my health more. It also forced me to go about life interacting with people whilst self-conscious about my appearance) I'm still alive. Not broken or beaten but strangely feel stronger than ever. Good.
when things are going bad, don't get bumed out, don't get startled or frustrated. if you can say the word Good, Guess what ? It means you are alive! that you're still breathing! It means you still have some fight left in you.
I always enjoyed this verse from Ralph Waldo Emerson "Give All To Love" ...Though thou loved her as thyself, As a self of purer clay, Though her parting dims the day, Stealing grace from all alive; Heartily know, When half-gods go, The gods arrive.
When I first watched this video I was over 400 pounds. 402 to be exact. That was 18 months ago. Today I walked into the gym wearing a shirt with Jocko’s face on it and the word “Good” underneath it at 229 pounds. Every lift, every set…I’d look at my reflection in the mirror. Down 173 pounds….looking “good”…. Grab the bar……”RE-ENGAGE!” Edit. Thanks guys. Update at 2 years I’ve lost 196 pounds and weigh 206 now.
Anyone else think that everyone in the world needs to listen to this.i heard this being told by Joe Rogan, and then they played, and i know after hearing it'll change my life.
My entire life fell apart a year ago. A total multisystem failure. A grand implosion. All my dreams, all my fears, shot out of the sky alike. I thought it was the worst thing that could have ever happened to me, but it wasn’t. It was good. It was the best thing that could have happened to me. I’m now 100lbs lighter, I live somewhere better, my relationships are more meaningful, and my new goals are grander. It was so good.
How did you do it? I'm right where you were. Wife's gone. Took my 2 little ones with her. Lost my house. About to lose my job cause I can barely focus. Losing friends over this. How?
@@aarona7041 now you know you can try to prove your a good dad and your kids will want to see you don't give up and just focus on your self till your confident enough to prove to your wife your a good man
Vet here. Been paralyzed 6 years - your motivation inspires me to push everyday. Don’t feel like getting out of bed, good. Back too sore to lift, good. Feeling beaten, good! Now learn, now move, and go get it! Everyone can sit & cry about it - it’s what you DO that makes the difference. Thank you sir.
Had neck surgery after finding my left arm paralyzed. GOOD. It forced me to transition my business and I'm growing more than ever. It's shaping me into a better man.
that’s actually so funny you say that, I’m at work right now with 7 hours left and my phones at 40 and it’s been stressing me out not having any music but fuck you’re right man
Nietzsche was the one who did the job for me. At a certain moment in his life, the idea came to him of what he called ‘the love of your fate.’ Whatever your fate is, whatever the hell happens, you say, ‘This is what I need.’ It may look like a wreck, but go at it as though it were an opportunity, a challenge. If you bring love to that moment - not discouragement - you will find the strength is there. Any disaster you can survive is an improvement in your character, your stature, and your life. What a privilege! This is when the spontaneity of your own nature will have a chance to flow.
At 58 I found out I have cancer last week. Good, my friends and family don't. Besides now that cancer knows I know, it fears me. NO FACTOR. PATCHES ON.
I lost my job and my CDL is suspended because I use a CBD gummy twice a month. I'm in the process of reinstating it. GOOD, is what I feel will come of this. Not financially, not socially, but owning my mistake is going to break a curse that my parents and grandparents placed on my life. The curse of narcissism, and failure to own one's faults. I refuse to blame anyone for my mistake. I own it. It's mine, and mine to rectify. And you know what? It's more freeing than anything else I've ever felt.
This single video has inspired me to get out of the bed from a 6 month depression. Now I'm on the warpath, 30 lbs lighter and employed. Thanks Jocko!

It’s a great thing that you all did for the world and thank you….. It’s also good so more people know what MAC-V-SOG did and all those lost in all military are remembered.

“If you can say the word: good. Guess what? That means that you are still alive, that means that you are still breathing. And if you are still breathing... well now... you still got some fight left in you.
So get up, dust off, reload, recalibrate, reengage... and go out on the attack.”
-Jocko Willink
E.g.: Major studies indicated that the 'fight' attitude is the wrong one to have when dealing with medical conditions. You can't fight cancer away nor fight your ancle to heal faster.
This man is a soldier.
Great example of: If your only tool is a hammer, every problem has to look like a nail.
@@cauchyschwarz3295 shut up nerd
@@cauchyschwarz3295 So if you get cancer you should just accept that death is coming and there is no hope......?
That my man is NO GOOD.

Focus on the good in a situation, and you won’t have time to focus on the bad. Holy shit. Wow.
Good, now I won’t have to think what I’m going to say in a funeral (awesome words man, really strong message)
I love that :)
rip for your grandpa and wish him have a great life with your grandma:)

I learned this lesson very deeply during some of my childbirths. The first couple times, I was terrified. I was running away from the pain, and panicking inside. I thought I needed a rescuer. “Give me an epidural! HELP!!!” (escape)
But by the 3rd time I was learning that there was no escaping it, and what needed to happen was not going to be helped with any amount of medication. Only God Almighty himself, me, and my baby could get this done. (resignation)
By the fourth time, I was beginning to understand that there was more to this than surviving. (hope)
I’m a slow learner.
The fifth time I left the hospital out of it. This time, with no I.V., no monitors, no medications, just myself, my baby, God, and my friends and family, I finally met my power. No escape? No help? (good)
The sixth time was the one that changed me the most.
(good)
I knew in that instant, we could call 911, and she’d die before they got there.

RIP dad.

This year:
- my wife left me (good, now I have the opportunity to meet the person I'm supposed to be with and it taught me to appreciate people whilst they're in my life)
- I didn't get the training contract I applied for at work (good, now I'm clear that I must take the alternative path to qualify as a lawyer)
- my nan died (good, now she's at peace and no longer has to battle every day just to eat and speak and not fall over. Also my mum no longer has to work herself to death as a carer every day)
- I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic and it caused adult acne to appear all over my face and head and I went temporarily blind and my feet swelled and were agony (good, now I know that I'm allergic to that drug and I appreciate my sight and my health more. It also forced me to go about life interacting with people whilst self-conscious about my appearance)
