  • Sorry for the delay between videos. I've had a major project to take care of at home. Luckily that lead to a practical printing project. Follow along as I design up a grate to keep animals out of my new french drain lines.

Great job Jim, brilliant practical use. I'm not even sure that I've ever seen anyone actually take critters making a pipe home in drainage piping.

When i was younge, My parents had drainage pipe years ago like that, from a downspout also. Occasionally the feral kittens would hide in them when you spooked them and hear meows in the pipe. (barn cats) First time we had to dug it up and it backed out eventually. So my dad stuck burlap over the exposed end. That held for a few years. Jim, this is a Nice solution and well thought out. 3d printers were not an option back then!

Great print & video Jim! How about another design style caps the end just like yours & has a gravity closed flapper with a 10°-15° angle(from vertical 90). Water would push it open, then flow stops gravity hold flap closed. No grates to deal with. Love practical prints!
