  • IC3D asked me to test some of their new prototype UV resistant PETG. I gladly accepted their offer since I've had great results with their other filaments. Watch as I design and build a 3D printed birdhouse that I'll leave outside and see how it handles being in direct sunlight for the next few years.

I cried when I saw your child...
I envy you man; house, wife, child, lovely garden... doing the things you love 😭
I'm still with my parents studying to get a decent job so I can finally spread my wings (30)

Great project Jim. Good option to be able to change the mount. Glad to see you back producing content. Will there be a link to thingiverse download?

Not sure how the weather is where you live. I have a plastic shed, can get up to 120 in there. Hows the heat inside the birdhouse? just wondering if its just an comfortable as wood, which breathes a bit better on hot days.

wouldnt an average sized hole just limit it to smaller than average birds. If anything you could print the biggest hole and then subsequently print smaller hole adapters when needed

How's it holding up so far? How would regular Black Petg hold up?

After a few summer and harsh winters, the filament is still perfect and not faded at all!

This is exactly what I am looking for PETG. How is the bird house after one year. Can I use regular 3D printer with PETG?

Lawrence p birdhouse is still just as good as the day I put it up. Yes petg is a wonderful material to print with.

Another option for outdoor use is ASA filament.
