- This tutorial will show you how to create a survey in Microsoft Teams. You can create surveys in Microsoft Teams using Microsoft Forms. Microsoft Forms is available as an app in Microsoft Teams that can be used to create & administer surveys, quizzes and more. Microsoft Forms is included in various Microsoft 365 licences.

I was trying to create a survey in Survey Monkey, but I discovered that it was allowing me to use features in my survey design that would only work if I paid for a monthly subscription. I was curious whether I could do the survey in Teams, which my company already has, and your video showed me that I could! Do you know if there is a way to restrict access to the survey results?
Hi Emily, thank you for the comments and apologies for the delay in replying. In this tutorial, I only show users how to create a survey in Microsoft Forms from Microsoft Teams while granting team members permission to edit the survey and view the results. In this tutorial, you'll notice that the tab name when Forms is added reads "Edit |...". When you add Forms as a tab in a channel and select "create a new form" by default, it will grant all members of the channel permission to edit the survey and view the results. If you wanted to restrict access to the survey results then your options would be to create the form directly in Microsoft Forms (from forms.office.com) and then add the survey to the channel by selecting "Add an existing form" in the Forms menu (see 1:11 of this tutorial). After selecting this option, you'll be able to select your survey and the appropriate sharing options which include "edit" (which permits team members to edit & view responses) or "collect" which will only allow team members to submit survey responses. I will be posting another tutorial soon demonstrating how to do this. I'll be sure to share the link once I post the new tutorial. Hope this helps!

Question: Can this be done in an invite only/locked sub channel like Project X you have listed on your tutorial under the finance team? I don't have the Forms app listed when i select a "locked' sub channel versus the general channel?

Thanks so much for this great video! Are Teams surveys automatically anonymous or do you have to uncheck the "Record name" box in the Settings every time for it to be anonymous?
Hi Cara, thanks for the comment! Unfortunately, yes the default setting is to record the respondent's name which means you have to uncheck it every time.

Thank you for this video. I want to know who submitted the response but I don't want everyone to see the responses. Is that possible?
Thank you very helpful however it didn't show me how to share outside of my organization or to save. when i copied the link to send it went into the edit version not the survey itself

Thanks. One question. If I want to do a survey with each question having different weightage, is that possible? Like question 1 needs to have 10 points and then question 2 needs to have 5 points, then question 3 needs to have 2 points..Kindly advise.
Hi there, if I understand your question then you would like to create a test or quiz where each question is worth a certain number of points? To do this you would need to navigate to forms.office.com and when you click the new dropdown you should see the option to create a quiz which allows you to make each question worth points. Is there a way where I can allow only one person to see the responses?
You would need to only grant them access to the form with collaborate permissions
When I open my Forms, it just says "Multiple choice poll". No other options. I need to add a Likert scale
Hi there, when you are using Forms in the context of a chat message or channel post, you can only create multiple choice polls. If you add Forms as a tab to a channel, then you can create full surveys with different questions types. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching
I hate Teams! When I open forms it takes me into a poll instead of a survey.
Hi there, it all depends on where you open Forms in the context of Teams. If you open Forms from a channel post or chat, then it will force you to create a poll. If you want to create a survey in Teams, then you have to add Forms as a tab. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
What I'm gathering from this survey app, is that you can't actively share the results of the survey with the rest of the team, in say the channel. Is that correct?
You are able to share the results of the survey in a channel. You would need to generate a link that provides users with collaborate permissions and add it as a tab or share it via a post. Hope this helps
