Garm is probably the best boss fight in the entire game to me. A problem I have with most of the boss fights in this game is that it lacks true epic ness to me, the Gods don’t feel so much like Gods as much as simply powerful individuals, the only other that comes close is the first fight you have with Thor. Garm is an truly epic boss fight, with constant destruction and great feats of strength.
Now that God of War 6 is basically confirmed, and Santa Monica finally isn’t limited by having to make sure their games can run of the PS4, I want the next game to have TRULY MASSIVE scales for the boss fights and set pieces. Grandiose. Awe-inspiring. Sublime. To me, that would be perfect

@@sphere7158 I think I stand corrected here, brok died, his soul left his body which was bought back by sindri, albeit partially to reanimate him, which left again once he was killed the second time so he never returned to life. Garm was a tough fight, but it was worth it to see Fen again. His mannerisms after his revival kind of reminds me of my own dog, Milo, especially the little happy dance he does when he's told he's a good boy.
The amazing thing is, mythologically speaking, both Garm and Fenrir are often mistaken with one another as being the same and the father of Skoll and Hatii. So let's just make them one and the same here. Genius.
Garm is a true beast worthy of his reputation. After seeing what a ferocious uncontrollable unkillable beast he is with the power to tear reality itself apart now I understand why mimir lost his shit when he found it atreus freed him.
This was one of the best fights in the game. I felt like beeing in a playable movie and the wolf looks und moves so realistic. I love Fen in his new body, he ist now the bestest and biggest boy in the universe 🐺❤
This was probably one of the earlier times Kratos started to see Atreus as not just his son but a god in their own right. Its an important moment for Kratos. He questions it. Wonders what it is. Suspects it but in the end accepts it. Atreus turning into a bear and kind of putting the beat down on him a little probably helped to however that was likely more seen as a issue than example of godlike power, where this was not.
We can see the biggest different with Kratos now is that he did not kill the enemy with anything he can. He really did change, if it was before, he will snaps the wolf's head off
Garm's theme sounds like an homage to the Dragon's theme from GoW 2018. Rather fitting since in both cases we're fighting giant creatures that are beyond help or reason.
So EPIC! The gameply parts are way more fun and interactive than the other game imo. This time the attacks are much more aggressive and not just one auto time to attack, it feels great. I love the bosses so far and I loved this one for sure! Such a great game :)
Not gonna lie, Garm was the meanest, toughest boss to go toe to toe with. This is a boss that keeps getting back up and can't be put down no matter how hard Kratos and Artreus tries to kill it.
I've never played Ragnarok, so I don't know anything about Garm, I only know a few things about Fenrir. The fact that Garm is chained must make him quite stressed. If we take it to the real world, dogs, relatives of wolves, also get very stressed when they are chained by their owners. Fenrir was also very stressed after not being able to free himself from the chains made by the dwarves.
Centuries ago, garm was just a puppy, but soon began eating parts of midgard, including a few mountain ranges. Hwvr, even more dangerously, he began chewing through the fabric of the realms n even eating metaphysical concepts, such as an entire season. Seeing the threat in garm, the norse god of war, týr, proceeded to lure the monstrous wolf to a safer place. While he let garm chew on his arm as a distraction, he had him chained in the process. Once the gates to helheim were opened, garm realized that he had been led into a trap, n in rage, he proceeded to viciously rip off týr's arm as revenge. Hwvr, this was only a temporary inconvenience, as the god was eventually able to regrow the lost limb thx to the help of osiris n anubis. Garm was one of the jötnar, being a wolf-giant, n the father of sköll n hati. He was a dedicated enemy of the aesir n odin kidnapped his children, keeping them as hostages so he would stop fighting them. What ultimately became of him afterwards is unknown. This is his whole backstory in the gow's myth
0:42 I'm amazed that Kratos of all people is giving the lead and also worried that Atreus have a "good plan" With so much at stake that's a poor practice moment

I like how Garm's white fur of death and ice turns into the fluffy brownish and black fur of Fenrir, even the face, the white part of Garm slowly dissipates as Life returned to the body and Fenrir is reborn. Garm was no more.

This battle was wild I got so distracted at how cool Garm looks to the point I’m letting him beat my ass 😂 and I’m a huge fan of wolves especially wolves in mythology
This is the only wolf I ever heard about in mythology
@@ijustbevibin0425 in the African Pantheon or Orishas. Wolves are seen as high royalty also Anubis was a wolf not a Jackel. In Ancient Egypt wolves are also sacred creatures some pharaohs had them mummified with them to assist them in the afterlife. Also there are wolf gods in Mayan and Aztec pantheon too
@@ijustbevibin0425 fenrir himself?
my dog passed away three months before Ragnarok came out. The beginning scene when Fenrir dies was a punch to the gut, but this had me in tears. It also helped, I started to tell myself that I should stop focusing on how he passed and instead cherish him as he lived.
12:40, So he's saying he reincarnated Fenrir!? That means that's techincally not Garm anymore.
Then... What happened to Garm? Is he still inside that body?
@@elpepo0 I'm thinking Garm is just a being with a physical form running on autopilot without a soul to operate, just like a car moving without a driver. With Fenrir being the driver, his soul is now operating Garm souless body at 100%, thus becoming Fenrir.
Garm was a body without soul, just like Brok. Loki gave the body fenrirs soul
@@TiVoGlObE Shouldn't Brok come back to life then? Kratos and Atreus killed Garm once but he somehow reanimated himself.
@@sphere7158 I think I stand corrected here, brok died, his soul left his body which was bought back by sindri, albeit partially to reanimate him, which left again once he was killed the second time so he never returned to life.
In that perspective, Garm maybe compared to Pandora, just a soulless robot on autopilot, which couldn't die since there was no life in it to begin with. Fenrirs soul in garms body is what made it whole. I think that makes sense
Dante and Atreus should open they own Pet Sanctuary...😅
Dante?
@@Stinkmeaner420 yep.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@Stinkmeaner420 Dante had fight with Cerberus and king Cerberus which is three headed dog demon
@@LeqaIK ahh, makes sense. Kratos has also slain many cerberi, but none as powerful as the ones from dmc, I guess
10:53 the way Kratos says "what!?" here sounds funny.
The detail that went into the design and function of this game 👌
It’s nice where you don’t have to kill the huge cute wolf in a game. Finally
Sif 🥲
@@BlackIronHero I don't view what you have to do to Sif as really "killing" him/her. You're just putting them down, ending their suffering, and hopefully sending them to be with their master. Horrible and tragic, but ultimately a kindness.
@@RaptorJesus you kill him for a magic ring bro. I don't think he was suffering. Whatever helps you sleep at night but, Sif was in the way of a Lord's Soul and we had to get them all, and that's why he died. Not as a mercy.
@@BlackIronHero huh
Garm was a tough fight, but it was worth it to see Fen again. His mannerisms after his revival kind of reminds me of my own dog, Milo, especially the little happy dance he does when he's told he's a good boy.
When the opportunity to fight appeared, Senua certainly dealt with her Garm faster and more efficiently than Kratos here.
Dear Vergil. This is how parenting should work in games.
6:22 Loook, the boy is gaining some muscles!
The amazing thing is, mythologically speaking, both Garm and Fenrir are often mistaken with one another as being the same and the father of Skoll and Hatii. So let's just make them one and the same here. Genius.
Aww the face he makes when sniffing his favorite person. This accurate dog behavior.
But they way it move looks like a wolf not dog
Garm is a true beast worthy of his reputation. After seeing what a ferocious uncontrollable unkillable beast he is with the power to tear reality itself apart now I understand why mimir lost his shit when he found it atreus freed him.
So Garm was just a giant dog with the special ability to dig under any walls to escape, including walls between reality.
This was one of the best fights in the game. I felt like beeing in a playable movie and the wolf looks und moves so realistic. I love Fen in his new body, he ist now the bestest and biggest boy in the universe 🐺❤
After Kratos first killed him you can tell this shit got personal for Garm 🤣🤣🤣
One of the most entertaining fights in the game
Hit me up 🎁🎁🎁...
11:42 I only wish I can be like kratos 💪🏾
my favourite boss fight of the game , the music is awesome !!!
The soundtrack at this moment 6:04 was brilliant
I've been singing this all week. Those violins!
He really did change, if it was before, he will snaps the wolf's head off
Random thought, imagine Kratos telling Atreus about his uncle Deimos
Garm's theme sounds like an homage to the Dragon's theme from GoW 2018. Rather fitting since in both cases we're fighting giant creatures that are beyond help or reason.
That's Nothing Compared to the Collousus in God of War 2. That Thing had me Tense Every moment t it Screamed and Was Trying to Kill Kratos
2:19 garm is legit the only monster I have seen to fling kratos like nothing 😂
*laughs in colossus of rhodes*
Lmaoooo oh yea him too
I'm 1 million percent getting this game
So EPIC! The gameply parts are way more fun and interactive than the other game imo.
This time the attacks are much more aggressive and not just one auto time to attack, it feels great.
I love the bosses so far and I loved this one for sure!
Such a great game :)
The revival of Fenrir has to be one of the most wholesome scenes i have ever seen in gaming! Kudos to Santa monica for this masterpiece of a game
calm and reasonable person vs a calm and reasonable dog
Both are good boys, deep down.
Not gonna lie, Garm was the meanest, toughest boss to go toe to toe with. This is a boss that keeps getting back up and can't be put down no matter how hard Kratos and Artreus tries to kill it.
Honestly when dogs die the first time it’s heartbreaking but seeing Fenrir again bringing him back from the dead in a way makes this a miracle
This was a hellacious fight that seemed like it went on SO long.. I fear I'm gonna kill my controller with all the mashing 😆
Hope you are playing on give me god of war mode 😂😂😂😂
@Alvin Simba I did, took me 10 try’s to beat him GMGOW is a head ache 😂
This is one of my favourite boss fight in all God of war saga.
Why couldn’t thor and odins fight be this epic?
This is his whole backstory in the gow's myth
gotta love kratos testing him out "sit" or "home" I cracked up so hard
0:42 I'm amazed that Kratos of all people is giving the lead and also worried that Atreus have a "good plan"
With so much at stake that's a poor practice moment
The end is So adorable
U give the god of war an immortal hellhound that's loyal to him and his son that can travel through dimensions. Yeah it'd be a great mount.
So there the last guardian went.
How Ustio saw Cipher: 14:09
How Belkans saw Cipher: 2:19
When Fenrir was "inching" his way towards Kratos and Atreus, I was saying "Are you a good boy? Who's a good boy?" I am good with animals, even the big ones. A pit bull that my girlfriend has acts like a big baby when I am around.
The way he Army crawls towards them is so fucking cute.
14:38 sit
15:15 home
I'll use this to my wolf🙂👍
Kratos: Who’s a good boy? 🤗
Atreus: I am? 😃
Kratos: 😒
He’s not a big boy, he’s a good boy
My dad and the dog he told me not to bring to the house:
I want a big dog, like.... That BIG
@Telleva will elephants do 😏😏😏
I love how Garm at first seemed like it was only retaliating against its attackers. But after Kratos snaps it's neck it's all, "Oh its on bitch."
The most hardcore and Spartan-ish fight that ends ridiculously and funny.
I like how Garm's white fur of death and ice turns into the fluffy brownish and black fur of Fenrir, even the face, the white part of Garm slowly dissipates as Life returned to the body and Fenrir is reborn. Garm was no more.
I am stuck at this boss fight at the moment, playing on GoW difficulty is literally insane.
Edit: I beat him, haven’t thought there is gonna be a round two.
