Awesome job. A story, a battle, on par cinemagraphics, accurate attack styles, a clear ending, and a moral. Exactly what most videos on RUclips miss these days.

A well made video. As a martial artist, and practitioner of both Kendo, and Western and Eastern European sword fighting, I have only 2 critiques. #1 stop revealing your backs so often. #2 you start many attacks, but do not follow through with them. I can clearly see more times than I can count where an obvious attack could have been performed to great effect.
Correct. In an actual swordfight, it would not last nearly as long as this fight sequence, nor could there ever be as many exchanges without a cut or a death. Realism had to be dispensed here in order to enjoy a lengthy choreography. And, as with any real fight watched from the sidelines, it's easy to see the holes. It's a much different story to see and capitalize on them when performing within the fight.
Realistic? Lol, looks like plenty of opportunities to impale the opponent while they are dancing and doing fancy Hollywood moves. But as entertainment, it's very good. :)
Even in a real fight, a person watching from the sidelines will always see opportunities to strike at the opponent's openings. That's always easy to see. It's much different when actually IN the fight. Action, reaction, balance and recovery, are easily factors unconsidered when watching from the sidelines.
Good vid, good story, good lesson. You guys beat those itto to pieces. Also a good example of why you use the backbone of the sword to deflect/parry instead of hard blocking with the edge. Cheers guys.
It was hard to show, but we tried to introduce the physical danger of blocking with the backside as the opponent put his hand on the back of his own blade to push the other sword into the other guy, who could not put his hand on the back of his own blade, because he had blocked with the dull side, leaving the edge pointing towards him. We didn't fully convey that, sadly.
Better then any today sword fight scenes. I must say u cant beat the classics. I still loved it. This is how sword fight scenes should be not much rapid editing.. real moves real dents in the blade and a moral not just kill!
What I liked most about this fight was that both samurai did not do anything too flashy which is way overdone these days in film. I also liked how they tried to actually keep their distance in some parts of the fight like when they did quick little jabs with each others swords to judge their distance. They also tried to actually not over expose themselves.
Still one of the best samurai sword fights I've ever seen. Right next to the final fight in Sword of the Stranger. Great movie for those of you wondering. Awesome video guys. Thanks!! You should make some more! I've shown my whole family hahaha who know I love this shit 😂😂

As you can see in the video both their sword edges are pretty fucked up. That's because katanas aren't meant for blade to blade clashing and blocking. Most attacks were dodged and if the sword was used to block an attack it was not with the blade but the curved or side part of the sword.

***** oh and the bending is a lot different from sword to sword, if I not mistaken Japan where one of the first to use temperate steel, wouldn't that make their swords less bendy and harder at the edge, making using the side even more important?
nicely down. i really enjoyed it, me and my little brother used to do such stuff with training katanas ofc we are not skilled as u guys are but im pretty sure we equally love the way of the Samurai.
No it doesn't , it limits your movement s as it stops you from being able to move your wrist more than 45 degree upwards, seriously try it, and you can protect your upper body and lower body very effectively without holding it upside down.
Regardless, you're arguing against legitimate techniques that have been taught and practiced in both Japanese and Chinese sword combat methodology. I'm not an expert in this regard, so I'm afraid I cannot go into the deep specifics of the value of each of the techniques, but I can come up with examples where they can be quite useful; covering opponent proximity, and/or environmental situations.
sssentertainment if you can provide me with exampels and historical manuals that taught this 'technique' then I would happily change what I said and admit that I was wrong
A valid demand. But, as stated, I am not an expert in this particular area, so producing evidence from historical manuals (when most of it is mainly passed down traditionally, from generation to generation) would be intensely difficult. As for "examples", I'd like to first be clear what is meant by "holding a sword the wrong way up". Is this in reference to how the sword is carried along the waist, or something else, entirely?
Okay you see in the video he switches from holding the sword in the correct position , blade pointing upwards , and changes it to the blade pointing at the ground, this is what I mean by holding the sword the wrong way up. And by dong so he limits he angels of attack and makes it awkward for him to defend his upper body as he would have to twist his entire arm, and the only advantage this would seam to place is that it would confuse his opponent. So by holding the sword the wrong way up I mean in a reverse grip fation
I bought me a real katana now I'm practicing how to sword fight. I don't like guns it's easy to kill someone with one trigger. But to use my Katana and Bow instead it shows my enemy respect. 2:34 Never thought samurai games would change me. Now I want to be a samurai. 3:02 I'm 4 belts away from 1st degree black belt. After that I'm going do kyudo, Judo, Bjj and other types of martial arts that the samurai does. One day I would like to go to Japan and see the samurai legacy. I wonder if there are any live samurai alive? Man I have so much respect for them I would love to see one. They have my respect.⚪⚫🥋 I wish people used swords now days instead of guns. Why? No samurai would ruin their blade edge by striking the edge of another sword. There is a perfectly good blocking edge on the back of the blade.
Historically, swords used on the battlefield seldom returned back to their scabbard, as the edges of the blades were too worn out after battle use; they literally could not fit back into the scabbard.
This suggests that the edges were not protected in a heat of battle. Rather, the sword was a tool to win in a fight; cutting down the opponent.
Babying the blade was not a practice of war field swords. However, protecting the blade was, indeed, exercised with swords that were meant for decorative appreciation.

I want a black belt in Keyboard Karate, too..... :0
OHAI
Amazing video, amazing fighters and beutyufull pfilosofy !
i don't know if they knew but they already moved all over different directions...
haha
nicely down. i really enjoyed it, me and my little brother used to do such stuff with training katanas ofc we are not skilled as u guys are but im pretty sure we equally love the way of the Samurai.
Realy, what the fuck is with holding a sword the wrong way up, oh I'm losing with an effective technique so let me try a less effective one !!!
Only a master can be a master swordsman to battle the world of the Japanese war lord!
Nice cinematography, but way to slow.
BIONIK BLACK it's more realistic that way.
What the fuck. this is the best samurai fight I've ever seen
Nooooo this a terrible example of sword fighting in general. The guy in the red bandanna turns his back to his opponent multiple times at 4:24-5:00.
+Arctic Kore none of it resembles actual katana fighting style
+Alex Gilbert True.
Arctic Kore It is a joke
Love his outfit 3:42
BAN KAI
lol
Nice
The moral is very touching, you all should acknowledge it.
cool fight choreography, but really far away from a real swordfight...
Dude, never give the back to the enemy wielding a sword :D
love it Shaun!!!!! You & Jimmy. Great Skilll
oh man, this is embarrassing on many levels. ;)
+Suyamu So was your comment. You're no good at sword fighting. These two would slice you into ribbons.
+Kanto Ketchup I hope you're joking
Dont really care that much lol
Then don't reply.
+Josh Garcia He has a point.
Pretty neat, i liked it. Great job by the way.
If only in movies battles with swords looked like that, it will be 100% better.
Beautifully choreographed. I was thoroughly entertained.
Good swordsmanship and amazing foot work, though guns always have the advantage, I'd rather be a swordsman than a gunman
me too i prefer katana because its versatile but the probs is there's no pommel to end him rightly
@@filipinogopnik4161 Samurai were using guns before America was even a country.
And how many takes did it require to perfect this video, excellent swordsmanship!
We forgot the number. :p
Tis a dance...of beauty, skill.....and death.
Beautiful film, it has a touch of samurai honor.
I enjoyed it. Vary cool. Felt like a movie
ok? wing tsun vs a student pretending he has kenjutsu training? this. is cool I guess...? I liked this vid because it was enjoyable, if I wanted REAL kenjutsu I would watch that?
