I’m never doing that without a read. You know the opponent. You made a fold based on your OPPONENT rather than GTO. That is…hard. Very. Indeed, GREAT job there!!!
Admitting to losing control, tilting at times and giving yourself an honest grade is probably one of the best things you can do if you are serious about making money playing poker. Showing that even someone who is CRUSHING still goes through the emotional swings is huge! Love the content! Slow and steady wins the race in poker! This is a get rich slowly game if you are doing it right!
Staying off tilt is always my #1 goal, I have improved enormously since my early poker career. Now when I lean (tilt) its for a few hands. In the past it could be a few hours.

Great vlog as always. I was screaming at you to fold the set of 4’s as I understood why he checked his set of J’s and that’s what I put him on. For you it was a live read, for me it was a strong hunch. I’ve seen tons of players bet J’s, 10’s, 9’s this way. Now as far as observing the table to be able to get live reads, that requires lots of experience playing the same players. Since I rarely play (last 2 times were my visits to Sacramento), I can’t do much of that, although I can usually pick out the better players, the OMC’s, and overly aggressive types. In any case this year I’m waiting to cash in with stocks and then maybe make a longer visit. Best of continued luck in the New Year, and of course hope you have another year of great family times.

Amazing fold! I feel best way to increase your win rate is just to exploitatively fold to super aggression from MOST low stakes players. Very great trust in your experience on that hand. I'm Impressed
I had a good read and even though its never fun to fold a big hand, I had to let it go. He was never risking all his profits right before he was going to leave.

thanks, basically if the flop is good for my opponents range and not good for mine range or hand, its time to cut your losses. TT, AQx flop, heads up I might bet because its good for my range. Against multiple players with AQ, flop is T87, im done.
I don't play as much as I did when I was younger, age catching up to me. My concentration drops after 4 hrs or so. I do study the game off the table and making vlogs keeps my brain active.

@@christopherouellette1343 the course is a solid book that gives a good approach to how one should think about low limit poker. It is not designed for higher limit GTO wizards. Ed Miller has another book called Playing The Player, that’s a good read also. Both books would make you a tougher player in your low limit games.

Actually they JJ top set was too obvious based on your description of opponent. When you said you felt he was very strong, then on the flop he checks, it's only for two reasons . Niether of which you mentioned. 1. He has an overpair and is out of position on a wet boards and wants to see what kind of action developed. 2. He has exactly JJ and wanted to check-raise vs significant action. I don't have any real issue raising his turn bet. But it's basically a snap-fold vs him when raised. But I may have just flatted his turn also. He's checking bad rivers vs "draws completed".
I agree with your assessment, I thought he may be going for xraise on the flop or possibly AK, I thought he would bet bigger on turn if he had a set, but when he raised, he is only repping JJ or 99.
Guy with set of JJ’s against your set of 4’s misplayed it. He should have led the flop. Then you would have raised. Then he should have smooth called your raise and check the turn. You would have jammed the turn and he wins a huge one with set over set.
He gets plenty of action. His hourly is $59/hr at 1-3. Which pots are u even talking about that he could have stolen? You're either psychic or you're heavily speculating that he couldve stolen them.
Im a TAG player and if people assume I am an OMC, I will use that in my favor. I often change gears and my opponents, in general, have a hard time putting me on a hand. I steal when I think its right, so far it has been working for me.

@ I agree that playing poker professionally is very challenging. Most people will be better off working a regular job and supplementing with poker. I would guess that only the top 2 or 3% of players would be able to support themselves playing 1/3.

Great results Doug. U have some great discipline in ur play for only playing about 8 hrs per week. Most people would be rusty.

That guy made a terrible call for a lot of money with KQ.
He knows I am capable of bluff shoving the river, he actually was leaning towards a fold until I shoved.
The key number at the end, for me, is the 75%. Something to be proud of👍
