Bought in for $500 Friday night and was down $380 after 5 minutes. Added on $230 and grinded out a 6 hour session and left with a decent profit. Youre so right about staying in a positive mindset and avoid tilt. Bad swings will come regardless but we can push through if we stay grounded and continue to play smart +EV.
Good episode I was in a few of those hands sitting on your right during the last session I had 22 on 777 board heads up put you on a bigger overpair or A high that's why I floated the flop. Turn bet even though I snap folded I still wasn't convinced you had it but I was semi short stacked and wasn't gonna stack off so early in the session with bottom of my range. Good confirmation my read was on point Good bet didn't put you KQh thought if you were bluffing you had A high.
@@levoriocolin7802 I thought you had A high or small pair. It is very difficult to risk your stack against my range. I just happen to be at the bottom of my range that hand. You play well, keep grinding.
Good vlog. Suffered the bad run with you on second day, really tough to overcome when your opponents run hot and seem to hit everything they are looking for. Last comment a $300+ win isn’t small in my book, ~3 hours or so of playing makes your compensation ~$100/hour. That’s not bad money!
@@michaelmclaughlin1958 second day was frustrating, couldn’t make anything. Other days were a grind, not a lot of big hands. Just a bunch of small pots.
Great video Doug. Do you think I should tip the dealer when the casino I play 1/3 in has a maximum buy in of $300 with a $9 rake per hand? The way I look at it is the casino is the biggest winner in the this game. They should be paying the dealer pretty well for that kind of a rake.
They should pay the dealers more, but they don’t. The drop is egregious and makes the game basically unbeatable especially when capped at 100bb. It’s highway robbery.
@KenDavis-uo8kq what you don't understand is, when I dealt, my lay was $5/hr plus tips. I averaged around $40/hr. For the casino to pay every dealer that wage, the rake would have to be increased so much,.players would not play and casino would be out of business. Moral of the story is, always tip your dealer!!!!
@@Jolly-Green-Steve the second day was rough. Like all bumps in the road it is important to stay in control and not spew cash. There is always another day.
I think a lot of these suited connectors you play like 78 89 etc i think are not profitable long term in these games. It is always multiway and people don’t have a fold button and those cards can be dominated by Ax flushes or even A8 A9 etc . I play in socal in a very similar game only that it is not 500 usd deep buy in. But this is just my opinion after playing a lot in similar fields. Also the rake is very high too
@@johndelaney8980 in my youth I would leave when I had no more money. After 30+ years of poker, I learned that there is always another day. And a fresh start might be just the answer to turning things around.
Do you give off any OMC vibes? I wonder if your opponents think you’re capable of 4 or 5bet jamming flops with bluffs or triple barreling all in with nothing? Do you ever show?
@@ericdoheny9108 I normally never show. I always look for tells, I imagine my opponents do also. So showing my hand may be the piece that confirms their hypothesis.
@ I played hold em last weekend and won $100 but it was a 2/5 game with $10 straddles and I only had $360. They also dealt a 5 card PLO “Big O” hand once in a while, which is insane action and I generally folded pre flop

Another solid vlog in the books Doug! Loved the last hand of the vlog 88 vs AK!
@@timshaw5963 he played it like I would have, aggressively. He had more bluffs in his range than value, had to call him down.
