Man what a story Montambeault has been. He was an AHL goaltender for Florida. A 3rd goalie for the NHL and a no name. He gets waived. And goes to his home town MTL. He plays mid Hockey the first season. Next season though he proves he can be something. Then in 2023-24. Was above .500. Stole so many games for MTL and tended the World Championship. Now were talking about him starting for the Four Nations Faceoff and him getting a 47 save shutout.
I don’t see the sabres getting any better… you can tell they are missing players like Mittlestadt, I don’t see how Bryam helps them over a 2C who is full of potential
@@theohoppe5581 Let’s wait and see as they are going through a completely new system with a new coach and an entirely new half of the team on the forwards side. Still too early to hit any panic button right now.
IIRC the Blues also had a fight during practice earlier in the same season that they won the cup. definitely could see it being a turning point moment for the sabres
Appreciate you replying to my comment. I agree with what you said. I think in fact last year was the only year of his csrrer he shoots under 10%. Hes absolutely been ripping the puck this year. Especially you compare his shot to last year. He looks like a different player. Also depends with what they do with Laine. If he goes on PP1 he might limit Caufields goal a little. But if he goes to PP2 with Newhook and Hutson. I think yeah. 40. Maybe even 45 could happen for Caufield

Did some calculations to help support your argument and a player needs to average 21 minutes per game in all 82 games to be comparable to a goalie that is capable of starting and completing 30 games. Most teams depend on a goalie for 40 starts and assuming there are good enough to not be pulled or lucky enough to avoid injuries a player would need 29 minutes and 15 seconds of TOI in all 82 to even have a comparable Total TOI. As it has been proven a hot goalie can influence a season and series it same with a stable goaltender it makes some sense to have them among the top paid players on the team.
Agreed, Steve dangles podcast (forgot the name lol) went in depth on this, they talked about how over time the goalie can turn into what QBs are to football, a backbone of the team
I've been thinking for what Edmonton should do. It would be really tough for them to aquire a new player. They dont have much cap. And their only real player they would consider trading at this point (Nurse) Is on 9.25 Million with a NMC. And they just fired their coach last year i doubt they do it again. It would destroy the morale. I think they kinda just need to hope they get it together or look for Waiver claims in net. Maybe even Husso? More then just 0-3 for me though. The start of the sesson usually determines your momentum for the rest of the year. And if the Oilers are getting BLOWN out by 1st overall favorites like Chicago, Calgary. Could be a concern.
People said that last year. I'm not even slightly worried. They do the same thing every single year since like 5 years ago. They'll do the same thing, focus completely on structure for the first 30 games, suck at it, but get better. Then open up the offensive floodgates and have at least one 10 game win streak. Just like every other year. I'm honestly surprised at how bad fans are at picking up on yearly patterns. And one of the oilers is having 20+ bad games in a row due to not being allowed to one man army pucks into the net. Better they do it at the beginning of the season. The fact they do this is a good sign as it means they're not letting Mcdavid and Drai carry them into the playoffs only to fall apart because two guys won't win you a cup alone.
Stolarz is definitely benefitting from the improved Leafs defense under Berube. Some of the offensive flash from the Leafs isn’t as effective, but they’re playing a much more sustainable style of hockey from a defensive point of view.

2:27 Cleaning up after my birthday/Thanksgiving dinner... I nearly dropped what I was carrying hearing my name called out. And pronounced well too! Thank you so much for choosing my question. 😊
Great vid! Oilers: I have no idea what´s wrong again, but right now i don`t like their moves. They have lost 3 young players (Holloway, Borberg, McLeod) - and Broberg right now looks like he would be their 3rd best D. They look slow, and they are not dialed in. Horrible defensive team effort, no goaltending, and very much like last year. McD and Drai look like average players. Only 3 games, but also a pretty lousy preseason. Avs & goalie: it was their greatest question mark. Only 2 games though, but can`t win if you can`t get a save. The issue is, there are almost no options available. Shesterkin: I think he deserves to get paid, he also deserves to be the best paid goalie in the league, but there`s a lot of risk with these contracts. Look at Price and Bob, did they turn out well overall? Yes FLA won a cup but there has been times where Bob looked like a sure buyout. Price and Weber lifted the Habs into the finals, but they pay him a lot of money while he`s out. And there`s history, remember Luongo or DiPietros contract. I would say 8*11m is the max i would go from Rangers side, and it will already create tons of proplems with new contracts for KÀndre Miller, Lafreniere, Kakko and all their FAs. I guess Trouba is the guy they need to trade out, but it will cost them. Buffalo seems like a team with an issue. That`s a team full of 1st and 2nd round picks, tons of talent and no idea what`s wrong there.
Great Video, as usual, Nyquist. I live in NY/USA, so, as you're probably aware, we celebrate Thanksgiving last Thursday of November, so, let me take this time to wish you and all of the fellow Canadians Very Happy Thanksgiving.
In his defense, markstrom has played for a much worse team still putting up incredible numbers doing so. Boston makes any goalie look godlike. Hell, they made Raycroft look vezina worthy.

The Dahlin-Krebs fight IMO suggests a more competitive atmosphere at Sabres practices which has been sorely needed for YEARS.
