- In this woodturning project I make the 1000 subscriber give-away bowl. The bowl will be given to someone who has subscribed to the channel, liked and commented on at least one video. Every time you comment your chances increase. Closing date for entries will be midnight (GMT) on the 12th September 2022.
This woodturning channel, explores the uses of wood when combined with resin, epoxy, to make woodturning projects, that are easy and can be classed as art. A lot of the wood turning projects I make can be completed by the beginner through to the more experienced wood turner. If you have any ideas for artwork, wood inlays, epoxy projects or any other wood turning projects please get in touch. Collaborations are always welcomes.

This vid has given me an idea to drill holes and stick twigs of various other trees of all differents sorts !! Sooper dooper 👍
Hi Vini, yes I have had that thought as well. Not sure different varieties would be worth it as the inside of one twig does not differ too much from another, especially at the thickness we are talking about. But go for it and please send a pic when done, I would love to see how it came out.
I'm slowly working my way back through your video library, Mike, and just came across this bowl. What a stunner! I can see these in different colors as a set of large soup or cereal bowls, everyone in the family always reaching for their favorite. Beautiful work. Also, I'm glad that future Mike moved more to the live and spontaneous comments. I personally like that style much better. Cheers and I hope you're having a great weekend.

Another great video, Thanks Mike. I like how you tell us 'mistakes and all', so we can all learn, and then produce something wonderful looking. The Aluminium and resin (and ca!) give the bowl a distinctive look, and the grain put up a good showing of natural beauty too!

I’ve got some aluminium swarf bagged in the workshop…..made some pen blanks and turned some pens which came out fantastic…..nice bit of inspiration Mike, I’ll give this a go myself.

That's really neat looking. Please throw or donate that paste you made of linseed oil and beeswax. It just stains a horrible yellow...or so the lighting makes it look that way. I'm referring to the cherry bowl you used black CA gklue on,
I would say it's more the shellac that made the colour you are not keen on. I will look for a lighter type. All the best, MIke

Yep, I started doing simple inlays with the 5 minute epoxy you get from the hardware store. Cheap enough to have a play with. Have you tried it?
@@MikeHolton Briefly, last spring. I used some to fill knot holes in some cutting boards I was making. I just picked up a quart from Home Depot to finish a small tabletop for my wife....time to start playing!😉

Keep a cheap 1 inch natural bristle paint brush on lathe bench to sweep shavings out with or a shop vacuum to remove shavings and dust , air hose tends to aerosolize the dust and even with a dust eductor can be breathed in without a dust protection mask or respirator and with metal filings especially aluminum,can be dangerous to breathe in the dust from turning and sanding might want to look into wet sanding using wet and dry sanding paper and paste wax as lube
