I was married, very happily, for 40 years. My husband passed away and it took me 4 years after his death to start dating. The first “relationship” I got involved with was a text book narcissist. After being married my entire adult life to a very good man, I was like a lamb being led to the slaughter. You can be in your 60’s and still be naive. There was only 3 years age difference between me and this man but I had no concept of what he was until I was fully entangled. He kept asking me to get married and I at least knew I didn’t want to marry him. He discarded me out of the blue and was married to his wife #5 in less than 3 months. I think as much as it hurt, I really dodged a bullet. Good luck to #5.

I did give some years to allowing him room to grow, and see his “blind spots”. Eventually, it was game over. It’s more an issue of them finding someone who is vulnerable in a way that will allow them to take the most advantage.

The narcs I've dealt with have gone after older women because the older women don't want drama. So the unaware older women ignore the bad behavior to keep the drama away... They let the narcissists get away with whatever... Older women will sometimes accept anything because they are desperate to have a man in their lives to not appear like the "old maid".
Older women will also prey on younger relatives, especially if they know that person was already abused. Helping to alternate the child from their parent

As a woman, I have always seemed to be attracted to people younger than myself. Except in my 20s. I like how alive and healthy younger people are. Older people just don't have the same zest for life. I have been used for money by younger men, but not like alot of older women. Alot of older women will give up ALL of their money to be with a younger man. Not me.
I would say younger male narcs can target older than them women that can be introverted, lonely with apt/home or money, women they see as less attractive and or a little overweight, low self esteem, bare minimum, nurturing, generous, and other similar qualities.

Luckily I don’t play them type of mind games and I’m always willing to walk away from toxicity. One someone pushes me away, that’s where I stay.

In the beggining i told him "no" because i had clear that It couldn't work between a 38 girl and a 23 boy but he asked for an opportunity and he did It so well that i accepted, one of the things i was surprised a lot about was his level of maturity, more than some men of my age, but of course, that facade only lasted 7 months. During that time he gave me the level of respect and reciprocation higher than i had received before, that was the reason that i accepted to be with him. (he is 3 years older than me.) Do you think that was some kind of confession, considering NPDs tend to think their experience is everyone else's experience? (Also, he knew I was groomed in the past.)
