I did this to my jetta. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful, I did every step except for the painting. The only thing I didn’t like were the headlights I bought feel very cheap (and they are), the reflector vibrates a little bit and I feel like they are going to fall apart. I guess I’m going to open them again and put some glue on them.
All your video's are great man, helps a lot when I'm lookin into doing my own TDI projects and really want to get a better understanding of what I'm getting into. Only a matter of time before your subscriber count really takes off. -Thanks for all the detailed content!
Hey Austin, I’m really confused on how to hook up the blinkers in this application, any help would be super appreciated. I have all the same exact stuff that you used
Been looking at upgrading my headlights with equipment from retrofit source since the majority of my commute is in the dark and the lights (aftermarket from PO I believe since the drive bulb is an H7 w/projector) have a horrible cut off, get washed out from oncoming traffic, difficult to see in inclement western Washington weather. Are your lenses glass like the European model? Thanks
i did an LED swap in my golf - just heated up the weather cover and bubbled it out to clear the fan of the LED - they work great - im sure they do scatter light but never been flashed or high beamed
Just did this conversion. It's still pretty cheap, and the results are outstanding. Only issue i have is a bit of vibration and jiggling of the projectors. Anybody else deal with this? Thinking about gluing a post between the shroud and housing to lock them down.
So I disassembled my lights to try to stop the jiggling. I epoxied a support between the bottom of the projector shrouds and the housing. I then packed soft foam insulation between the reflector housing and the outer housing. They still jiggle. I realized that the adjustable part that allows aiming floats inside the outer shell and is only supported by the adjusters. When you add the heavy projector it exacerbates the possibility of movement. Based on my experience a bit of jiggling and vibration is unavoidable with the Jettas headlight design.
I also want to improve the quality of light, such a machine I’m able to half-lust, if you can, write down the exact dimensions, which ones will give thanks for the video👍👍👍👍👍👍
Did you have any issue with the hid lights quickly “blipping” on when you start the car? I did this retrofit and when I turn on the key the HIDs quickly flash on then shut off again. I’m just worried this quick blip will wear out the ballast quicker
Hey man just got a 1.9 tdi recently, timing and everything have been done and I’ve got a shake at idle every once and a while, wondering if you know anything about that? Thanks
It could be your alternator bushes failing? Serpentine belt in a bad condition? Your egr coked up? Air filter clogged/old? Fuel filter due? Map sensor needs a clean? Maf sensor needs a clean? Electric contact cleaner does wonders for the last 2. Good luck 👍
When you drove the beam pattern was quite shaky. Projectors are heavy and the headlight construction is not designed for such a weight attached to it, isn't it?
I tried do the same but didn’t work as yours. I could think is just the camera, because when i look through my phone camera is alot more bright. Feels like iam light blind lol. Everyone on the road has better light output them me still How did you get to fit the projectors in the housing? Still surprised, I believe is the exactly same housing and projectors i got. I had to cut a big hole in order to place the projectors deeper and not touch the headlight lenses . Another thing, i tried mane leds and doesn’t work well. Found out many people saying that. Them tried one hid and get so hot and might burn my whole headlight. But I cannot expend more $200 for a decent powerful led bulb. What am i doing wrong, help please
My jetta has got 333670 miles on and still has the stock headlights on, it's a painful regret to drive at night. I hate every moment of it. Gana do somthing soon.
My bro-in-law said to me, "we gotta do something about your mk4 tdi headlights, I've been watching this guy in WA that did some cool upgrades to his Toyota and want to do the same with my forerunner" so I went home and searched... And "Get outta town!" the same guy has a tdi!

fog light retrofit wouldn't hurt either! fog light switches are cheap, and so are the inserts into the bumper
Thank you for sharing, I need to do this to my Mk4. Awesome video

Signals are factory wired.
I know this is old, but what fixtures did you use for the fogs? They don’t look oem?
I never saw how you took care of the relay circuit you referred to...got some info you can share?
Beautiful jetta man she looks pretty mint
You should've picked up the glass lenses if you're going to go through all that
Awesome video. I’ve been looking for new headlights for my 02 Jetta VR6. I wish I knew how to do this. 😭
does height adjustment still work after this
Great video, thanks for posting, ive been meaning to do this to my 2006 Bora for ages (mk4 jetta in europe) cheers james

These have plastic lenses!
everything looked good up until you started wiring it, never cut a stock harness for headlights.
Its's way safer to just repin the plug.
Well done! Perfect car!

What type of projector liupas did you use for the installation, ... are they 2.5 inches!?.

Says the harness doesn’t fit the car, will it still work? I have a 2002
What year is your Jetta and what made you decide to get it? Looking into getting something similar :)
Looks awesome man. Beautiful car
Appreciate it!
To what did you plug the projector wire, for the hi beam?
the oem headlight wires into the new harness
Ive got the same kit but my projector lens is touching the outer lens when i try to close it, any ideas what i can do?
Hi bora, can a LED longer than 11 cm fit into the headlight of the vehicle, please help

Looks KILLER 💯🔥👊🏻
Hi. Can you give me a product link pls? 😅
What wheel set up you got ?????

I have this rims, it say by BBS
What is your rim setup on that thing?
How much would you charge for some pre-built lights
Excellent work as always
what wheels are these bro?
Has anyone successfully done this retrofit using the OEM housings? Or is the euro housings a must?
Yes, they have deeper buckets.
Before this upgrade, we’re the headlights good? The amount of light they make
I know you commented 9 months ago but all stock mk4 Jetta lights are basically candles

10 or 15 minutes at 200F
