    Initially I was expecting to have more technical recommendations from your video but it's very valuable the fact that you put things very simple.
    Appreciated.

    Baron fig stuff is really nice dude! It definitely can be a challenge and the day goes quick when you are designing and juggling projects. I write my 3 top important tasks on notion so I know what's most important that day.

    How would one get into doing design work for the music industry? I’d love to get into that but I’m not sure where to start.

    • @BrentGalloway
      @BrentGalloway  4 месяца назад +1

      @@Doppelgangrr I have a video on my channel of how I got into the industry. In a nutshell, for me, I designed some shirts and built my portfolio around merch for the music industry. Then through word of mouth, I landed a couple of projects for semi-large indie bands. Then with that work, I approached merch companies, introducing myself. Some replied back with work and it snowballed from there!

    I usually use the calendar to make an agenda for the week, and for each task I use an app called Microsoft's To Do, in it I can create folders for each project, tasks and subtasks.

    Thankyou so much for sharing this! Brent I'd love to hear about how you go with remaining consistent with freelancing and responding to clients etc when life gets rough. I haven't been able to master the art of being consistent and showing up on the days or weeks where everything just seems to be going south.
    As for me, I used to use my google calendar to track client work because I was looking at it everyday.
    When I wanted to move all my client tracking to a 'pretty' app where I could keep all client project tracking separate I found that none of the apps I tried could offer the same simplicity as just tracking in my google calendar did.
    I learnt a valuable lesson that simplicity is always going to be best for my style of working.

    Brent, LOVE this. Thank you. Refreshing to hear you recommending to keep it simple rather than overcomplicate with an app (for us freelancers at least, apps have their place in teams). Totally agree with zero inbox, but I need to use lists more!

    Great idea in prioritizing your tasks on the post it note. I'm a user of the Franklin Covey system (altho my life isn't so high pressured as I work part-time and am an empty nester), and your A-D approach is just like that of FC. Thanks so much.

    I use notion to manage my daily tasks, with also a yearly overview with my goals, divided by quarters and months. It really help me to divide these big goals into smaller tasks to get closer to them, but I admit my struggle right now is to manage to fit these business development goals into my really tights schedule with a lot of business projects.

    • @BrentGalloway
      @BrentGalloway  4 года назад

      Breaking down those big goals and even smaller goals has been super helpful for me as well. And I can relate to your struggle a lot! Sometimes it's easier to focus on all the day-to-day projects. But I constantly remind myself of the importance of those bigger goals, and breaking them up is the only way I've been able to make real progress. Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment!

    Great vid, man! I prefer writing stuff down too. I go with a whiteboard on the wall and a notebook. Love being able to just look to my left and see what's going on with my schedule. Also usually have a few Post-It notes on my monitor at all times. I think technology and apps gave us so many options for time management, scheduling, etc that it has become overwhelming and thus counter productive...all in the pursuit of being productive, haha. So cool to see someone else who prefers the ol' pen and pad. 🤙

    Definitely looking forward to, and hope to see a video on a project from start to finish like you mentioned.
    For myself I have tried an app called 2Do. It works really well if you are into apps, you mark your tasks with a priority, reminder, etc. and it automatically organizes and gives you a plan for the day, with different lists for personal, business, whatever you create. However I always fall out of using it quickly just because I am a tactile person and like writing things down as well. I use a cheap small notebook and sticky notes, however I'm looking for newer or better methods; even if just minor tweaks.
    I would love to see what your layouts in your notebook end up looking like as you mentioned in a possible future video. I am definitely going to try what you do with your planner though mentioned, and would love to try out the new trend of "Declaring Email Bankruptcy" and archiving all the insidious digital sludge to hell where it belongs. Lol.

    Also, what is your work flow like? Do you go through a whole project then present your ideas or break it up into smaller phases and show clients your progress etc
