  • Honda recommends 10w30, but I use 75w90 and explained why. What oil do you use?

    Forza 350 : 170 ml ;
    "Motul Transoil Expert" ,
    SAE 10W-40, Technosynthese.
    I change the gearbox-oil every 6000 km or 2 years!

      10w40 has the same viscosity as 75w90 gear oil,pick a quality fyll synthetic and ure good to go

      You can even do 12000 KM. I have SH 300 and the manual says every 12000 km.
      I put Bardhal 10W-40 Gear.

    Forza 300 (2019): Nutze LIQUI MOLY Hypoid-Getriebeöl (GL5) SAE 80W-90. Getriebeöl hat meiner Meinung nach eine höhere Beständigkeit (Schmier- und Druckfestigkeit) im Bezug auf die Flankendrücke, die auf die Zahnräder bei Belastung einwirken. Nur allein die Viskosität zu bewerten ist nicht alles. Wichtig ist bei allem - ob man Motor- oder Getriebeöl verwendet - das regelmäßige Wechseln.

      That's correct, I have used 80w90 before (I find it way too thick for the owner's manual recommendations), so that's why I changed to 75w90 (it's gear oil, and its viscosity is similar to the owner's manual recommendation).

    Forza 300: 280 ml of fresh 10w30 Motul 5100 (the same oil used also for engine oil and filter oil change)

      That's correct according to the manual, it's 10w30. But I advise you to use gear oil instead of engine oil in the gearbox if you want your transmission to last. Cheers!

      Why do Honda writes nothing about specs for transmission oil in manual, just the amount of it?

      Year is 2014 with 60K kilometers. I dont use it every day. I have c50 for this. For my long runs YES i have oil loss depents of how much push it. I know this is very very annoying but i can live and with it lol.....I use the same oil of my car 10w-40 (opel) but add 1 bottle cap ceratec in 5 lt. Τhe last time I added oils I also added a cap of ATF 20845 75W-80...( I have better behavior but i need more time for better conclusions.)
      However, there is a philosophy in modern engineering that says that fine oils are better for metals, they enter the pores better. My knowledge is that this is true but for the first uses, because when the pores have absorbed the oil... the metal may need a thicker lubrication...I repeat this is mine point of view.
      Greetings from Greece.

    • @ramiretz
      @ramiretz Месяц назад +1

      correct because motorcycle engine oil also does have EP additives for internal gearboxes... but you need to change it more often in the final drive, maximum 2 years lifetime.
