What the hell, is that actually the same Adam that walked across Jordan with Straybob? Geowizard and Straybob's mate just happened to be in the same pub in the same tiny village at the same time? Man, what an incredibly small world...
Such an enjoyable watch Tom. It reminds me of how lucky we are in Scotland with our 'Right to Roam' legislation. We would not have to be sneaking about, avoiding farmers and 'Private land' signs. As long as we are responsible and respect others, we are generally allowed to walk where we want. I walk like this in Spain and France and have always been met with a welcome and generosity. Last autumn, I met a long distance walker in Scotland. He came back to my house, and despite my poor French, had a meal, a shower and bed to sleep in. I may never meet Guillaume again but it's sometimes time to 'pass it on'. Well done to Adam, showing exactly this attitude. yours aye, Norrie Frae Lithgae

I was hooked the second you said you'd always wanted to pick a direction and go, because I'd always had the same dream. Still do. But when you started talking about that one special day, I was reminded of my own day just like that Miles of treck through farmland, rivers, forests, and thorns. One of the most important days of my childhood. And now at the end of part 2, I was reminded of how humanity is still good hearted at the end of the day. I've always believed so, but it's good to see it in action. The kindness people show, the beauty in sudden friendships, it's a light in a seemingly dark world. I'm an American, I won't be able to go on a trip like this because it's just highways and cities near me, but that won't stop me from one day traveling someone it is possible, and having a go at it.
I cried toward the start of this video, in bed watching with the wife on Christmas eve morning, cup of tea in my hand, sausage sarnie on the go, that mixed with the beautiful English countryside, the fabulous folk music and your lilting tones made me more proud to be English than probably anything else, ever (I don't patriotic that much these days)
I absolutely loved this adventure for the sheer relaxedness of it.. No difficult straight line to follow, no arduous tasks to completen, just a lovely hike through a beautiful landscape. It felt akin to the 'How (not) to travel Europe' series, which still remains my favourite series on RUclips of all time. My dream would be for you to film a 'season 2' of that.
As an English lad that spent my teens rambling though picturesque villages like the ones in this adventure no series you do will trump this for me, pure nostalgia.
When I lived in the UK, I took off from my front door in Bridstow, Herefordshire and walked South, West and East until I reached the coast over three years (separate adventures).Your own adventure reminds me of those times. Rucksack, tent and bedroll on my back, out my front door and off I buggered. Memories that will stay with me always. Good on you Tom! I loved these episodes. And thank you for not littering 🙏😊
Another great adventure Tom, thanks. This mini series highlighted 2 things for me - 1. The public rights of way in this country are largely a joke to landowners (overgrown, grazed by crazed sheep and cows, blocked by electric fences, or just plain moved on a whim) and we need to do more to protect, and keep them (and keep them clear too!). 2. It's a stupidly small world - Adam, as others have pointed out, is friend of another RUclipsr but I'm pretty sure he's also a guy i kinda know through working in Manchester! Keep up the great work bringing our glorious countryside to the world!
Easily one of my favourite series of yours so far. The grand nature of your previous adventures are always fun, but this much more raw roots and easily replicable rambling mission oozes charm and as you say yourself, it's a great motivation to younger audiences to explore their own slices of countryside near them. This is a brilliant display of how taking the time to just enjoy being, rather than the constant rush to find entertainment, can be a highly rewarding and unique experience that I would argue holds higher value for the memories of such an experience that you'll carry through life with you.
As am old geezer for whom a good day is when something is not hurting or aching if I do not move too quickly. I am reminded how when young it is possible to do exactly what this 'young' man just takes for granted. Good luck to him and his form of individual but enviable madness.
Pulled a ligament rushing for the bus a fortnight ago, and I know my bod is no longer as flexible as it once was. Feels like only yesterday that I’d do a 25-mile hike without blinking… would have to plan carefully for that now. Keeping active seems to be the key. I’m out on my bike when I get the chance even with a pulled ligament. Just two or three miles a day makes a huge difference.
I have no clue why, but this series gave me hope for life again. Seeing how beautiful the fields next to your home town can be made me go on a walk for the first time in ages. Big love from the netherlands
My wife grew up in Oakamoor. It's a beautiful place, so cool that you passed through! Most the population worked at Alton Towers! We've been talking about doing the railway trail together for years. You've reignited us to go back!
Reminds me of the Euro trip. Fun, chilled out and down to earth. Takes the simplest of what the world has to offer and celebrates it. The interactions with everyday people and the humanity and kindness on display just make it so much better. More adventures like this please.
I accidentally knocked the play button on the first one of these at 11pm. And I was so tired, but I thought,I'll just watch 5 minutes of it. I ended up watching all of 1 and 2. It was the "not knowing" what was going to happen though I had.
@@LewisZilla get out of the city!!!!!! When I was Greece staying in Athens I made a point of leaving the big city and so glad I did, some of the most beautiful scenery and villages I have ever seen in my life
I agree. I have travelled a lot, I have family from Cornwall, and after visiting England and walking the Cornish countrysides with the coast not too far by and finishing on a secluded beach with no more than 1 or 2 surfers about was one one of the most enjoyable days of my entire life. There’s nowhere else on the planet I’d rather be.
@@eveningrice I think it's because there's still a sense of community in the small towns and villages, so everyone keeps it nice. The cities are just globalist hellscapes with language barriers where everyone relies on the authorities to look after everything.
These videos always impress me how much of a gifted storyteller Tom is. There aren't too many people who can make going for a ramble across some rural countryside so enjoyable.
I watched this video when it first came it out and it inspired me to get back out there... did two ten-mile walks through the countryside from my front door. Saw some great wildlife, met some interesting people and all in all had a great time. Cheers for the upload Tom, sometimes it's easy to forget that adventure is always just waiting to be found right off the step of your door.
Small moment but I love 16:09. Tom taking the time to read the label of the water. “M&S. Still mountain water from Scotland. Freezing cold.” Amidst the relentless rhythm of our bustling daily lives, we frequently overlook such subtleties. Here though Tom pauses and savours these seemingly insignificant. It’s reminded me to appreciate the small things in life and express gratitude in simplicity. There’s is beauty and joy in everything you just need to take the time to look a little closer.
This might be my favourite of your adventures yet! It's so simple yet cozy and relaxing. Really makes a difference when your interactions with other people are friendly and welcoming rather than sprinting away from angry farmers!
Hello. I want to say how wonderful this series was for me. I’m American and I have never been to England, but I do have a deep vein of that adventurous spirit. This brought me back to days in my 20s when I was rambling around the country just going into the unknown each day. You captured that spirit so well. And all the little choices. The Bert Jansch song, the humor. Just well done man and I hope to see another series like this one. Very inspiring and fun.
That's my favourite TV show, and I thought the exact same thing. Glad to see others noticed it as well. I really hope Tom makes this a regular occurrence.
I'm a photographer living in Birmingham and this video is giving me ideas for future projects. Thanks for showing us these amazing (usually unseen) parts of the UK. :)
The english countryside is so underrated I swear. Very green and pleasant. What a beautiful series though... genuinely surprised at how comfortingly fun it was to watch. Great little 'speech' at the end aswell and the gesture to the shrewsbury arms was just wonderful, great content.
@@dislikebutton2462True, very realxing ,but there's also a place for that trip where you want to add the on-edge adrenalin of not knowing what's going to meet you around the corner, to face unknown dangers in a habitat lived in by other dangerous species - and survive said journey. Then of course retreat back to the chill of the UK/Ireland [add where applicable] countryside, to tell and embellish the tales of surviving such a wild adventure, over beers of course. Every journey counts.
There’s something truly amazing about the English country side the fact you can just walk wherever and adventure without a care is awesome dude. Love from Australia
The ability to broadcast a couple of days of walking in the countryside, making it so, so, soooooo entertaining is a true, masterful talent. Tom you are an adventurer and a wordsmith with such a great mana about you; please keep doing what you do.
Thank you so much for this. I live in Canada now, and am always homesick like a muh-fuh, for the landscapes you're walking through. Despite being such a vast country, those landscapes simply don't exist over here. I never thought it would be possible to miss British fields so much, but I do. Anyhoo, this fills my happy box. Cheers!
Tom I absolutely loved that , as someone originally from Stoke , watching you skirt up north into some very familiar places was a joy to watch . I was hoping you might of come across the “Chained Oak” in Oakamore but you’d of literally been down the road from Alton towers at that point. I can also confirm that the accents were very local indeed . As you move from north staffs into Derbyshire you do get that hybrid dialect. The people are super friendly too as you discovered . Can’t wait for the next adventure
This has been one of my favourite watches on youtube in quite a long time. It managed to encapsulate me in the story and keep me entertained the entire time! Props to you.
Hi Tom, as someone who is just going through the worst patch in my life right now. This content is really comforting and allows to feel at peace for an hour. THANK YOU!
This is brilliant... Haven't enjoyed a RUclips series like this in a long time... Makes me proud to be British and an encounter with Peter Capaldi thrown in for good measure... couldn't ask for more! 😅
Right at 35:03 , you couldn't have said it any better. Where there is uncertainty and trepidation involved, especially then is the adventure worth it. I recently myself took a 22 day solo adventure starting from Las Vegas (where i live), and driving to Los angeles, all the way up the pacific coast of the US for over 1,500 miles. I stopped for a week in each major city (except portland, OR) and slept in the houses of the kindest people I had met! Meeting old and new friends alike who I either had not seen in ages or had only met once previously, I partied, drank, and had some of the most meaningful conversations. Only once did i sleep in my car, and even then it was a blissful, silent sleep. This video captures the very essence of that adventure in my opinion, and to watch another person striding through the unknown path in the same way brings me a ton of joy, seriously. I only now wish I had recorded it in the same way so I could re-watch it all. Great series and bravo to a great adventure. Cheers!
Watching this has put such a smile on my face. I grew up just north of dimmingsdale and oakamoor. I spent so much of my youth in the woods of dimmingsdale and just this summer was in a charity cricket game at oakamoor. Keep it up Tom
Waking up cold and wet tends to be the most "I should just call in a ride home" moments of any expedition, no matter how many times you've experienced how much easier it is to just get up and get moving. Good to see you just powering through it!
Brilliant! I wouldn’t attempt such a trip in Canada here. Too many dangers and less roads to walk by. But people are really great. You would need a bigger pack for food. Thanks for the trip!😊
What a peaceful little story amongst your grandiose other adventures. It makes it extra special, I think! Please do it again sometime, it was great viewing the world as if sitting on your shoulder: watching the scenery while hearing you rambling about sheep and doughnuts and romantic quests.
I live near the North Yorkshire moors and this series inspired me to walk there turns out 5 hours of walking gets you 4 hours of beauty. Thank you for continuing to post and being an inspiration.
This reminds me of the kindness of strangers in the countryside of my home country, England. I may have my gripes with the UK, it's very easy to get bogged down with the hustle and bustle of the city life I've always lived in. But as i lie in my warm bed on vacation with my friends here in America, it's videos like these that remind me of the small nooks and crannies that await me back home. Thank you Tom, your videos give me immense comfort 🫡
I know this is always a weird thing to get excited about but the wales missions always did this to me. Anytime I see an old stone wall like at 11:07 the fact that wall could be 1000 years old just blows my mind. As an american where "old" is anything over 100 years its just crazy that these old walls are still there.
Hey Tom, I just want to let you know that you make me feel a lot less lonely and its great to be reminded how light-hearted life can be. You’re also very inspiring and I’m tempted to wonder off myself when summer rolls around and see where I end up. Lots of love xx
I actually haven't spent much thought on it, but now that I see it it's quite amazing how beautiful the british country side is. Quaint villages, cobblestone roads, rolling hills, thorny forests, water falls and creeks - even castle ruins... and public footpaths that remind of a time before automotion. Major respect for picking that soda bottle back up. Top bloke.
Man I wish it was Summer, have a hankering for doing an adventure similar to this! Incredible how such simple things can be so engaging and entertaining! Brings me back to simpler times, before everything became so damn complicated!
You inspired me to finally start going outdoors again after being a couch potato for the past few months, I will be doing the west highland way tomorrow :))
I hope you'll read this, Most RUclips videos I watch in the background while doing something else, but your adventure videos engross me and I find myself watching every second and living through the adventure with you. Love what you do!
@@Pebphiz Canada, plenty of places to walk but not that many footpaths around where i live. But there's just something about the English countryside that's always fascinated me, it looks so peaceful.
How the hell have you bumped into Adam? Who is stray Bob's friend? Their RUclips journey across Jordan was awesome and I followed Bob for many years through India and all his adventures in Australia. No way man that water coincidence
Interesting and beautiful trip! :) Just FYI - the sheep might just have been a bottlefed sheep. Meaning - if they somehow lost their mother, they would've been bottle fed and be used to running towards humans to say hi.
Always lovely how much Tom’s accent switches after talking to locals like after that conversation at 18:20. Immediately more Staffordshirey than the usual west country. My Dad’s family’s from Shropshire and their accents aren’t a million miles off of that gentleman’s.
Tom, man, I can't tell you how much I enjoy these; the possibility of adventure as you set foot beyond the known, encountering varied people on your path, sleepless nights and cozy ones, too - it all makes for grand-living. Thank you so much for taking us along; please do more of these in the future, if you can. Whilst I'm sure your 'wilder' adventures are as appreciated, it's nice to change things up once in a while :) Take care, and God bless, mate

As a Scotsman who grew up in England, I'm loving this.
I don't patriotic much either
I absolutely loved this adventure for the sheer relaxedness of it.. No difficult straight line to follow, no arduous tasks to completen, just a lovely hike through a beautiful landscape. It felt akin to the 'How (not) to travel Europe' series, which still remains my favourite series on RUclips of all time. My dream would be for you to film a 'season 2' of that.
As an English lad that spent my teens rambling though picturesque villages like the ones in this adventure no series you do will trump this for me, pure nostalgia.
I can't even begin to explain the happiness I feel everytime one of these adventure videos pop up
Same here 👍
I love them mummy
3 Use it or lose it. Most of those overgrown paths would have been kept just fine by regular footfall
Tom you're a genius at taking what sounds like a relatively mundane task, and turning it into an engaging story and adventure.
❤
As am old geezer for whom a good day is when something is not hurting or aching if I do not move too quickly. I am reminded how when young it is possible to do exactly what this 'young' man just takes for granted. Good luck to him and his form of individual but enviable madness.
👍
Pulled a ligament rushing for the bus a fortnight ago, and I know my bod is no longer as flexible as it once was.
Feels like only yesterday that I’d do a 25-mile hike without blinking… would have to plan carefully for that now.
Keeping active seems to be the key. I’m out on my bike when I get the chance even with a pulled ligament. Just two or three miles a day makes a huge difference.
I’m from Tokyo Japan. I came to this channel because my favourite Podcaster Luke’s English Podcast super highly recommended you.
It's incredible to think that at 8:42 in all that peace and quiet, you were only about a mile from Alton Towers...
No way… this is the reason we have a comments section 🎉
Yeah I was hoping he’d come across the Chained Oak
I accidentally knocked the play button on the first one of these at 11pm. And I was so tired, but I thought,I'll just watch 5 minutes of it. I ended up watching all of 1 and 2. It was the "not knowing" what was going to happen though I had.
England is so beautiful.
the countryside is but not anything else 😭
@@Guccifish-ik5ninot just the countryside, plenty of nice villages, get out of the major cities mate
I recently hiked a pretty large part of the southwest coast pathvand there are some truly beautiful areas there
@@LewisZilla get out of the city!!!!!! When I was Greece staying in Athens I made a point of leaving the big city and so glad I did, some of the most beautiful scenery and villages I have ever seen in my life
Nobody will ever convince me that there's a nicer place to be than the English countryside in summer.
I agree. I have travelled a lot, I have family from Cornwall, and after visiting England and walking the Cornish countrysides with the coast not too far by and finishing on a secluded beach with no more than 1 or 2 surfers about was one one of the most enjoyable days of my entire life. There’s nowhere else on the planet I’d rather be.
i wanna go next year
Agreed. And it's so well kept. Outside of cities, the brits really take care of their villages and homes.
@@eveningrice I think it's because there's still a sense of community in the small towns and villages, so everyone keeps it nice. The cities are just globalist hellscapes with language barriers where everyone relies on the authorities to look after everything.
Amen
While sitting in the dark on the shortest day of the year, I'm jealous of that lovely weather and countryside!
These videos always impress me how much of a gifted storyteller Tom is. There aren't too many people who can make going for a ramble across some rural countryside so enjoyable.
The absolute truth
The day someone will give him an actual television show, the world will become a better place.
@@HarryVerolme tv is dead mate
I watched this video when it first came it out and it inspired me to get back out there... did two ten-mile walks through the countryside from my front door. Saw some great wildlife, met some interesting people and all in all had a great time. Cheers for the upload Tom, sometimes it's easy to forget that adventure is always just waiting to be found right off the step of your door.
I couldn't believe it when Adam from StrayBob turned up! Small world.
Small moment but I love 16:09. Tom taking the time to read the label of the water. “M&S. Still mountain water from Scotland. Freezing cold.”
Amidst the relentless rhythm of our bustling daily lives, we frequently overlook such subtleties. Here though Tom pauses and savours these seemingly insignificant. It’s reminded me to appreciate the small things in life and express gratitude in simplicity. There’s is beauty and joy in everything you just need to take the time to look a little closer.
The clouds in that shot omg that was awestriking
not that deep
Weird watching those warm late summer days in the middle of winter lol. Cant wait for summer 2024!!
This might be my favourite of your adventures yet! It's so simple yet cozy and relaxing. Really makes a difference when your interactions with other people are friendly and welcoming rather than sprinting away from angry farmers!
Aye - especially because Tom is such a friendly lad. He's in his element here.
There only angry because he's normally somewhere he shouldn't be lol
Adam is from the StrayBob channel! Holy shit, the crossover I never asked for but so badly needed!
This series has real Detectorist vibes, and I’m all for it.
Great show and great RUclips series
That's my favourite TV show, and I thought the exact same thing. Glad to see others noticed it as well. I really hope Tom makes this a regular occurrence.
I’m here for the soundtrack - deep dectectorist vibes
This show is actually filmed quite near to where I live, it’s not the prettiest area, but it would be a cool place for another adventure like this
What a show
I'm a photographer living in Birmingham and this video is giving me ideas for future projects.
Keep it underrated let us enjoy 🤫😂
the UK is lucky you can stroll around your countryside without fear of some bear or other wild life (other than farm animals) are out to get you.
I love the English countryside in the summer. Nothing like it. Thank you for this series Tom - so relaxing and nostalgic to watch.
Yeah summer in England is my favorite week of the year
@@demonstructie Good one 😂

This has been one of my favourite watches on youtube in quite a long time. It managed to encapsulate me in the story and keep me entertained the entire time! Props to you.
im from germany and this might very well have been the best unbiased insight into a british countryside you can get
Hi Tom, as someone who is just going through the worst patch in my life right now. This content is really comforting and allows to feel at peace for an hour. THANK YOU!
❤
This is brilliant... Haven't enjoyed a RUclips series like this in a long time... Makes me proud to be British and an encounter with Peter Capaldi thrown in for good measure... couldn't ask for more! 😅
So weird seeing Adam popping up in a GeoWizard video after seeing him in a lot of Straybob's videos! It's like some sort of adventuring cross-over!
Was looking for this comment!
I couldn't believe it, it's defo the same guy?
Would love this to get StrayBob some extra views. His hitchhiking series is RUclips gold
This is insane! We need a video with Tom, Greg, Bob and Adam
Right? Amazing - go watch some Straybob adventures through Jordan next people!
Cheers!
Seeing this video during winter makes me miss the Sumner so much
You owe Adam a night of pints. Great lad, great video.
Watching this has put such a smile on my face. I grew up just north of dimmingsdale and oakamoor. I spent so much of my youth in the woods of dimmingsdale and just this summer was in a charity cricket game at oakamoor. Keep it up Tom
Give my best do Doug Dimmingsdale
Dimmingsdale, of the Dimmingsdale Dimmadome?
Adam with the pints and yurt, what a legend!
This is so enjoyable to watch, this country has so much to offer for those willing to find it.
Found myself saying "I love you man!" after watching that. Thanks for letting us take part in your adventures!
England has so much beauty in it wow
England has many interesting places and people
I know this is always a weird thing to get excited about but the wales missions always did this to me. Anytime I see an old stone wall like at 11:07 the fact that wall could be 1000 years old just blows my mind. As an american where "old" is anything over 100 years its just crazy that these old walls are still there.
dry stone walling, they're everywhere up north mate - people still build them
Doesn't help to have the actual "old" that was in the nation before anglos eradicated.
@@dopaminecloud seething over anglos hard
Top bloke.
This has got to be my most favourite, comforting and inspiring series I have ever watched. This is why I love the countryside. Thank you. :>
Man I wish it was Summer, have a hankering for doing an adventure similar to this! Incredible how such simple things can be so engaging and entertaining! Brings me back to simpler times, before everything became so damn complicated!
This has reminded me of The Sandstone Trail that I did over three consecutive days in June! Come the next year I'll be out hiking every week!

Most RUclips videos I watch in the background while doing something else, but your adventure videos engross me and I find myself watching every second and living through the adventure with you. Love what you do!
Makes me want to buy a plane ticket to the UK just to wander around the countryside, thank you again Tom!
It makes me glad I live in the UK 😉

How the hell have you bumped into Adam? Who is stray Bob's friend? Their RUclips journey across Jordan was awesome and I followed Bob for many years through India and all his adventures in Australia. No way man that water coincidence
Interesting and beautiful trip! :) Just FYI - the sheep might just have been a bottlefed sheep. Meaning - if they somehow lost their mother, they would've been bottle fed and be used to running towards humans to say hi.
More laid back and just as enjoyable as the stress and trials of a straight line mission. Definitely more of these, along with others. Cheers.
Can't believe you ran into Adam, just finished watching him in the 400 miles of Jordan videos on Straybob's channel
Always lovely how much Tom’s accent switches after talking to locals like after that conversation at 18:20. Immediately more Staffordshirey than the usual west country. My Dad’s family’s from Shropshire and their accents aren’t a million miles off of that gentleman’s.
kind of hard to put into words but these videos are just sincerely soul healing. probably my favourite series of yours yet. thanks for making these
OMG I thought I saw Adam from StrayBob's channel! This has to be my favourite RUclips crossover ever!
I'm sure a lot of us have got a few "plan pub" stories, but to watch someone put it in motion was actually amazing! 🤣
Helped me stay awake through the night shift! Thanks Tom.
Haha did a double take after watching Adam expertly guide Straybob through the deserts of Jordan. He must be carrying a youtubersmagnet of sorts.
