The sportmanship and gentlemany of your rivals warning you of their upcoming attempt is nothing short of Amundsen wiring Scott "I am going South". And, of course, congrats on the feat and thank you for the great content!
@Wiking8945 *Wales is over. I think there is still motivation in him to conquer other missions. Maybe just not ones with brambles, stone walls, fences and angry farmers. Like the one he did in Norway.
Congrats on finally finishing Wales! Love your writing style in your commentary, reminds me of Emerson or Thoreau. You have such a beautiful way of describing the world and your journeys. Also, my wife and I make a point to listen to Amynedd on our hikes! Cheers from Seattle!
It’s weird but someone must’ve started cutting onions near me when you climbed that bank on the beach. Congratulations Tom, absolutely incredible achievement and that never give up attitude is contagious.
Tom, you are a legend. A true legend. What you're doing has enspired me and many, many others to keep chasing their goals and dreams, and the perfect way to illustrate that is with this mission. 4 attempts and goddamnit, you *refused* to give up - mate, you are the physical equivalent of determination. Hats off to you. I can't skip the person who makes it all possible just as much as you do, though. Verity, this community loves you deep in our hearts. You truly are, in Tom's words, a saint. All of us are just as thankful to you just as much he is for everything you are doing for this channel and these adventures. You guys never fail to brighten up my generic days. Thank you, Tom and Verity!
He's finally fucking done it. No words incredible achievement from both you and Verity. A 2-man team compared to the support crew of Archie's mission is no mean feat. Congratulations Tom
due to the rising popularity of straight-line missions, I think it's about time that Garmin gets working on an update for their GPS devices that implements a straight-line mission mode, which makes the device automatically beep as soon as you are nearing the 25m platinum run border and beep even more + louder if you are about to hit the gold run border.
Congratulations, Tom! I cannot think of anyone more deserving of having the title of "First Person to Cross Wales in a Straight Line" than you! You have worked hard for both that title and our entertainment over the last few years, and I think I speak for all 1.19M of your subs when I say we will stay tuned for your future adventures! Get in! Also, I know this won't mean anything to anyone else and before you go replying, I know, nobody asked, but in 2019 when the original Wales mission was uploaded I had started going to college. It was one of my favorite things to watch around that time and also one of the most memorable. It only seems right that today, the day I graduated that same college, I am watching the final episode that also happens to be the one that brought about success!
@@thomashauer6804 Haha, yep! It was very suspenseful every time he'd cut to a scene where something went even slightly wrong, thinking the mission was over.
Tom you're a bloody legend. I just realized how much my life has changed since the first mission. I was in 11th or 12th grade, finishing my A-Levels and being the weird guy at school that implored people to check out this Brit crossing Wales in a straight line (I still implore them and I still have only managed to persuade my closest friends lol), now I am almost done with University and (kind of) a whole adult. I don't think you know how much your content means to me. I used to just live life as a it breezed past me, I spent a year in the USA in 2017/2018 and I barely remember any of the nature. Some of it because I didn't go outside a lot, but also because I just didn't care. Your channel didn't just get me into GeoGuessr, they made me appreciate every forest, every hill, every pond and every river I come across, even in my hometown which I've traversed many times. I really know what you meant with "high off life" (I think everyone thinks they understand, but a lot don'T actually), and it's a feeling that I have regained slowly and rarely after some.. semi-good years of my life, and I truly believe that the mindset that you propagate in these missions is one of the things that have lifted me up and set a great example. I think I commented this under the very first Wales mission, but I still think that crossing the northernmost state of Germany, and walking from the North to the Baltic Sea (about 60-70km I think?) could be a really nice challenge. Coincidentally, my grandfather lives pretty much bang on the shortest line through there so me and him would surely support you if you were to actually do that. As of now, I think you don't want to think about straight lines anymore, and that's well deserved! Cheers and thank you mate, glad to be a patron.
I honestly believe that a Sweden straight line mission wouldn't be that bad it would be the longest mission you would attempt by far but if you go a little North of Stockholm you wouldn't need to cross any motorways I believe there would be quite a few lakes though but you have crossed those before in your Norway mission it would be awesome to see. Plus there is thing in Sweden which is called allemansrätten, which basically means that everybody have the right to walk through forests, fields, paths and even private roads
@@icantcomeupwithagoodusername I nominate Austria. Just because of the flat terrain Austria is famous for, and angry Austrian farmers surely would be entertaining
@@patrickrane7993 I'd be skeptical of doing a straight line mission through Finland, especially if you go for the "shortest" route which would be right around the middle. A lot of bears, moose, thick piny forests, and really big lakes around those parts. I live in Finland and I would never do a straight line mission in our country
@@Yrenne i am from Finland too and not really hearing what youre saying. moose isnt dangerous for humans at all and last time bear killed a man was in the 90's. forests are extremely easy to travel through compared to Wales but would be boring content with no altitude difference
29:17 - 29:45 is a good representation of one if the many reasons I stick with this series. The whole thing is already entertaining as it is, but tom manages to infuse a kind of humour and style into these videos that is well placed, effective and quite unique. The music, the editing and the remarks themselves coming together are just a joy to experience
The IRL series are always super entertaining and well edited. Please do a straight line mission across Denmark. That's sure to create some interesting challenges😂
Sadly i feel like flatland will be no challenge to Tom, he needs cliffs, hills, massive rivers and above else angry farmers on quadbikes. Now America, farmers with guns, that might be a decent challenge.
The pint at the end was one of the most well-deserved pints ever captured on video. Congrats Tom and Verity, thanks for taking us all along on this incredible adventure!
As much as i thought this was someday inevitable, i also can't quite believe you've done it. The whole series from wales 1 to now has been supremely enjoyable and amongst the best original concepts on RUclips. Great effort man, absolutely smashed it!
You bloody well deserve this, mate. 4 attempts in Wales, with you putting all the effort for us to enjoy in the comfort of our home, failures due to completely secondary events, you never quitted and you finally got it (with the most epic costal finish yet). You are a RUclips legend man, Greetings from Peru
Just a day before it makes 3 years since we got locked in our houses here in Spain, I still remember discovering the channel during those early pandemic days and watching the first attempt in 4:3 aspect ratio and the "How NOT to travel Europe" series. You and others made me want to go outside and that's what I'm doing to this day, whatever it takes. Thanks Tom!
It feels unreal to watch this. On some weird level, I actually related with Tom about not being able to process it yet, while I'm just a lazy ass couch potato. I think thats just props for how amazing and intimate these series have been, and it feels like yesterday that you uploaded the first one and ive been hooked ever since. The biggest of congrats to Tom, and thank you and Verity for supplying some of the best content I have ever seen on RUclips. ❤🎉
I think that speaks to just how masterfully these videos are edited. Each scene chosen precisely to envelop us in exactly how Tom felt at that moment. Every story beat, every voiceover line, every single minute of footage curated expertly to create one of the most memorable youtube series to ever exist. And we were all here to watch it unfold :D
Congratulations on the mission, while I was hoping Wales 4 would be a three man trip with you, Greg and Ben it seems too poetic that you started Wales 1 by yourself and today we see you conquer Wales 4 by yourself. A job well done!
I'll copy my comment from the patron video over to here: The greatest video in a series of 15 already incredible videos. Even if it all almost ended on the outset of Wales 1 in 2019 when you were almost run down by a car after leaving the Inn, you've come back at it again and again and finally, truly, conquered this incredible country. So proud of you tom.
Nice one Tom! It’s been a pleasure following along with the last 4 Wales missions and I’m so glad you’ve conquered it this time. It truly is a beautiful country and I’m grateful that you’ve shared your journeys with us. They have allowed me to reconnect with my happy memories of living in the Welsh country side during 2017. All the best for the next adventure!
First of all: Congrats to you Tom and of course Verity, as she has been a crucial part in almost all of your missions. All the Straight Line Mission videos are in my opinion the greatest videos ever uploaded on RUclips. The unique approach combined with your fantastic storytelling really is outstanding. Thank you for sharing this with the rest of the world.
Goosebumps when you reached that beach. Thoroughly enjoyed the four years leading up to this, the Scotland attempt, Norway, the different strategies you employed, leaving a bloody ladder at a fence, loved every second and the mega drive soundtrack to accompany it. Wales crossed with blast processing!
Started watching mission 1 on my phone in bed, and now this series is a show where I sit down on the sofa and watch it on TV. Absolutely the best content on RUclips. So proud of you, Tom!
I can not express how immensely proud of you I am!! This has been an incredible journey! When I watched the first attempt of Wales, I was but only a freshman in high school. Now, I am a senior about to graduate in 2 weeks!! Your determination and perseverance has been a huge inspiration to me! Thank you for the amazing content! This will go down in RUclips history for sure!!
I remember when Tom first set out to do this, as I’m sure many here do as well. I was cycling from Canada to Mexico, over 3,500 miles, and watching another adventurer while I was on an epic journey myself was a great inspiration. Cheers Tom!
Well done, mate. That was beautiful. The last bit, through the marshy reeds, was so exhilarating to watch. I was grinning ear to ear. I can't even imagine how you must have felt! [Tastes the sea.] "That's as salty as my ball bag right now." What a finish! I love Wales so much. 🏴 Llongyfarchiadau!
Wow, I remember years ago first tuning into the 1st Wales Straight line mission, I was gripped at every moment throughout the Quadrilogy of missions. I'm so glad you've managed to achieve your goal, the literal lengths you have gone to achieve them are truly inspiring. Congrats Tom.
Today of all days is an incredible day to get to lay down and see that Tom has finally achieved the Wales straight line. Hats off to Tom, massive appreciation to Verity. What a wonderful journey
Amazing content and well done! This is the sort of thing RUclips was made for. Massive congratulations from the Netherlands! These missions also changed my view on Wales haha it's absolutely beautiful, although forests are harsh ;) onto the next and enjoy the summer!
Congrats! Fantastic job capturing your journey! I have to say the 4:3 ratio worked better in my opinion. It felt more intimate and it is also more fitting to these types of challenges. Bigger focus on what's ahead instead of what's in the periphery. For me, the movement on the outside can make it rather disorientating, which I didn't have with the old recording style. Maybe you can get it to work with the 16:9 and this is more about camera placement. Anyway, stellar work as always. Now I really wanna visit Wales sometime.
The Mission Across Wales, the one that started it all. Now you accomplished the mission after 4 attempts. And this series introduced me how great the country of Wales is. A lot of beautiful landscape. Great job Tom and Congratulations!
I was in 10th grade when I saw your first mission across Wales. And now as I finish my first year of college it's very inspiring to see you complete this journey after so long. Nice job Tom!
CONGRATULATIONS, TOM!! Please never stop making this type of content, specifically the narrated straight line videos. Thank you for the extreme effort, it does not go unnoticed! Good luck in all your future adventures!

Congrats on finally finishing Wales! Love your writing style in your commentary, reminds me of Emerson or Thoreau. You have such a beautiful way of describing the world and your journeys. Also, my wife and I make a point to listen to Amynedd on our hikes! Cheers from Seattle!
Thank you Boris, that means the world to me!
It’s weird but someone must’ve started cutting onions near me when you climbed that bank on the beach. Congratulations Tom, absolutely incredible achievement and that never give up attitude is contagious.
I got full body chills and timed a loud GET IN at the same time as Tom
Something about the calmness of the sunset on the beach after watching this man hack through brambles and fences for 4 days
That camo suit deserves an applause. It’s been through hell with these missions 😂. Awesome job Tom!!!!
You could do the same thing with any GPS enabled Sat phone that had Android or even a web browser
Shouldn't be too hard to do it on a mobile phone app
I don't know if Garmin would encourage missions like these as a large portion of them involves trespassing.
@@polarity1 Depends on the country, this wouldn't be illegal in Norway unless he had to cross through urban neighborhoods.
@@matiashogden1240 Are you aware he's done Norway?

Safely crawl underneath you say?
I believe ya!
21:24 i love how tom just went "infections?, nah, we got a line to walk"
Wales looks truly magical. Like straight out of a fairy tale, honestly. I would love to go someday.
Lots of popular fairy tales originate from Wales so it's no wonder
And you’d be most welcome.
Come and visit, we’re very friendly, and both our natural environment and entertainment is excellent. Croeso I Gymru
@@ParallaxRS Except the farmers, clearly
Congratulations! Just found your channel and binged all four attempts. What an absolute trooper!
Why do I feel so emotional over someone walking in a straight line
Thanks @duglife , pretty cool!
congrats yes
for a second i thought at the last wall before the beach suddenly some contruction sight security around that excavator stopp him lol
@@thomashauer6804 Haha, yep! It was very suspenseful every time he'd cut to a scene where something went even slightly wrong, thinking the mission was over.
Perfect ending to the Wales mission story 👏well done mate
Youll have to do a Google maps run to the exact same point and see how much time you saved!
18 hours and 9 minutes it would take
@@erikgustafsson5719 with time for food breaks?
@@markellii3093 no, quite subjective. 18 and 9 is probably an underestimate as usual for Google maps
The people at the pub must have been like "I want what he has!"
A well deserved pint! Congratulations on achieving yet another incredible feat, Tom!
Commenting for the bump.
Flensburg ahoi
I honestly believe that a Sweden straight line mission wouldn't be that bad it would be the longest mission you would attempt by far but if you go a little North of Stockholm you wouldn't need to cross any motorways I believe there would be quite a few lakes though but you have crossed those before in your Norway mission it would be awesome to see. Plus there is thing in Sweden which is called allemansrätten, which basically means that everybody have the right to walk through forests, fields, paths and even private roads
yup, same with Finland. would love to see either of them :P
Eh the big problem with a Sweden straight line mission would be all the forests. Perhaps a Denmark straight line mission would work out however
@@icantcomeupwithagoodusername I nominate Austria.
29:24 "Why does this exist?!" had me in stitches 😂
"Why would nature do this to meeeee?"
Lol at “That’s as salty as my ballbag!” 😂 Congrats Tom.
@@RMJ1984 The many islands, big bodies of water, bridges and farms could make for some interesting content
@@RMJ1984 Straight line across Florida could be interesting, or about a 5 minute video
@@RMJ1984 you cannot cross America in a straight line it would take weeks/months I mean it’s possible but come on

You've done it!!!
Thanks!
Thank you Cassidy!
You bloody well deserve this, mate.
4 attempts in Wales, with you putting all the effort for us to enjoy in the comfort of our home, failures due to completely secondary events, you never quitted and you finally got it (with the most epic costal finish yet).
You are a RUclips legend man,
Greetings from Peru
Just a day before it makes 3 years since we got locked in our houses here in Spain, I still remember discovering the channel during those early pandemic days and watching the first attempt in 4:3 aspect ratio and the "How NOT to travel Europe" series. You and others made me want to go outside and that's what I'm doing to this day, whatever it takes. Thanks Tom!
Well done Tom! Everything came together nicely for this one.
I will ´forever stay a Verity Fanboy. Without her, all of this could never happen:
Thank you Verity!
@@thewrens_ exactly man, just gives a feel of authenticity thats so rare on youtube nowadays

Best youtube series of all time!!
Thanks man, such a mystical place isn't it.
Get. In.
Bravo Tom, very proud of you
Started watching mission 1 on my phone in bed, and now this series is a show where I sit down on the sofa and watch it on TV.
Cheers Tom!
It's been an absolute journey, the most inspiring series on youtube ❤

Thank you my friend that means the world! until the next adventure!
He should get a 360° camera so he can reframe it all in post.
jup 4:3 was the best for sure, and no 360cam can replace that.
4:3 + the music gave it such a good vibe, kinda nostalgic
Omg man! well done tommmmm!

The Mission Across Wales, the one that started it all. Now you accomplished the mission after 4 attempts. And this series introduced me how great the country of Wales is. A lot of beautiful landscape. Great job Tom and Congratulations!
The conclusion to a series I first watched when I was 15. I’m 19!
I was in 10th grade when I saw your first mission across Wales. And now as I finish my first year of college it's very inspiring to see you complete this journey after so long. Nice job Tom!
CONGRATULATIONS, TOM!! I've been with you ever since Wales 1, and these are still my favorite videos to be released on the entire platform -- this sort of feels like a bittersweet moment, despite the momentous occasion -- it's finally over! Please never stop making this type of content, specifically the narrated straight line videos. Thank you for the extreme effort, it does not go unnoticed! Good luck in all your future adventures!

So to have watched you give it so much during your previous attempts only to fail by the most frustration reasons to then see you sat in a warm place looking out on a beautiful bay after having succeded. Tom, just want to say this was an amazing saga. I can genuinely say I've never seen anything like this before. You've achieved both the straight line mission as well as creating a truly original and exciting series. Truly inspiring. You ought to be very proud. Can't wait to see what you do next! ✌
