Just found your channel and subscribed. Just got into GMRS and have my license. I live west of San Antonio and was looking for a GMRS group. Hope to meet up soon.
One of the guys in the group has several of these and though it has Bluetooth, he says it gets wonky when you hook it to several devices... such as wireless BT mic and HT app on the phone.
I use mine as a base station and regularly talk with repeaters 40 miles away. Everyone states my transmissions with a Bluetooth mic are far less quality than with the wired.
So, could your overall output be effected by the power supply? I have the full ham version of this radio (n7500) mine is connected directly to a 12v SLA battery and I get 27 watts output across all bands. I assumed if I was using a higher quality DC converter with say 30amp output I would get better watt output from the radio. Just a thought, have not tried it yet.
Good to know, glad I didn’t invest in one then. The SLA I’m using is part of a solar generator setup, so it works on and off grid. I have been pretty happy with the radio overall. Using a copper jpole as my antenna I get really good coverage in the valley I overlook.
Hi there I'm new to gmrs and I like this unit a lot. Can I use this RT99 as a gmrs mobile unit only with my gmrs license? or is it just to listen or use as a repeater? Thank you for your reviews, very helpfull.
@@MCTGMRS78009 it would be awesome if it worked like Zello and could be accessed through another phone. There is some kinda server thing I haven’t figured out on there
@user-ce6nw6sf4f hold on... there is on the HT app! One of the guys in my group is an expert at setting it up. Email me and I'll see if I can't some basic instructions from him to get you started on it. MedinaCountyTexasGMRS@gmail.com
@@MCTGMRS78009 that’s really nice of you, thanks very much for the offer. I did come across some programming parameters that looked promising. I’ll let you know if I got it and if I can’t I’ll take you up on the offer. Thanks again

@@MCTGMRS78009 Thank you for accepting me in your group. What is your take on the ED Fong- J-pole PVC antenna?
@@YayaOrchid I actually have 2 of them and love them. If you are looking for a "hidden" type antenna option they are great!
Still fair output for a mobile, anyway.
I've started wondering if I can pair it to a stereo screen in the truck's dash.

@@mattmerritt8690 I wish they could get that worked out. Those BT mics are awesome and convenient.

That crossed my mind but one of the other guys who has several and got the same results.

Yes sir... it can be used as a mobile unit, you can monitor other uhf and vhf band and use it as a simplex repeater. It has a ton of cool features! 😎

I thought you went to Tidradio's super secret HQ, and started smacking people around for the HD-8. Too soon?
🤣🤣🤣 it's never too soon! They've been very silent recently. I sent them an email asking for an update.
Any way to key that RT 99 up remotely from another cell?
10-4! You can from any device that has Bluetooth! Distance is limited tho.
