Basically "Prevention is better than Cure!!!". Many people do not realize that the needle can bend very easily when you tug or pull the string to cut after each sewing. Sometime when the string is a bit taut, you will pull harder and this action will bend the needle slightly and repeatedly, the needle will go out of alignment with the track causing jam and worst still a broken needle. So remember after each sewing action when you need to cut the string, pull it gently using both hands. One to above the needle and the other pulling the slack from the needle hole. Never use one hand to tug from the needle hole. If you don't understand what I mean, trying tugging the string towards you and you can see the needle actually bend slightly. Cheers!
Did you cover a bent foot? My recent issues were caused by a 26 foot being bent - I know not how - I discovered a little burr on the inside of the central hole. And, of course, the needle wasn’t centred in the hole. I have absolutely no idea how this foot bent I’m amazed that it can bend. I can only think that it happened when the first needle broke and hit the foot. Still amazed that even that could cause it.
Hi Sarah, I am finding your videos very helpful. I recently purchased a Pfaff Passport 3.0. I haven’t sewn a project on it yet, I have been just practicing and exploring the stitch options. I recently broke a needle. I followed all instructions when replacing the new needle but I cannot get it to stay in position it keeps falling out. Would you have any suggestions on how I can resolve the issue Many thanks.
Oh this is great I do Sarah. I recently broke a couple of needles, I cant find them in the bobbin area, do you know where they go? Is it important to find them? 😀🦋👌
They are usually not a problem. Most of the time the points will fall to the bottom of the machine and will be cleaned out at your next service. If you can't find them when you clean the bobbin area, you should be good to sew.
What you need is telescopic retractable wand which has a magnetic tip which will pick up any bits of the needle; some scissors have magnetized tips. I know this comment was from 2yrs ago.
Hi, I just purchased a second hand Husqvarna Viking E10 The seller said it was not going because she was sewing through a really thick piece of material and it got stuck. When I got home I had a look at it, and noticed the bolt that is screwed in to hold the needles in place was hitting the body of the machine above it, which prevented a complete turn of the wheel. I couldn't work out why it was happening, so wonder why it's doing that, and how can I fix it. Gwen
Your voice pitch is hard on the ears....try to talk softer. When you speak it puts jolts through my body at the high pitches. Thanks for the information

Thank you for this very informative video
Sadly, I think I have experienced most of the 15 reasons for broken needles. :-(
Fortunately, my throat plates are still pristine. :-)

Try turning down your volume…she speaks just fine.
