The song tells a story of the man injured in war and loses his arms, legs, sight, hearing, speech but was still alive. In the video the patient is blinking morse code repeating "kill me"
One always makes me cry. Hello from Toronto. All songs Metallica does is gold. One of my top 5 fav artists. Ur reactions were dope. I will check out more of ur vids.
It wasn't the "Doctors" imprisoning him. It was the "Darkness"... He was in a war, and was injured by a landmine. He basically lost his arms, legs, sight and hearing. It's the story about a war vet, who somehow survived due to medical intervention, but would rather have died instead of live in his body as it is now.. His body is now like a living prison because the doctors are keeping him alive with machines. Perhaps not the best description, but that's how I see it.
James (the singer) watched this movie(Johnny got his gun) on a tour bus. Wrote the song. Then bought the rights to the movie to use on the video. If you believe what you read on the internet. Lol.
Well, the movie is really old and it bombed hard at theatrical release, so it was relatively cheap. It probably would have been more expensive to license that many clips from the movie than to just buy the whole thing outright.
Should watch the Howard stern video where they play this live in studio. James explained why he wrote it remembering how he felt like “one” after his mom died
Please react to these I’d appreciate it a lot Metallica Fade to black live Moscow 1991 The thing that should not be (Seattle 1989) Seek and destroy (Seattle 1989) For whom the bell tolls (Seattle 1989) Welcome home sanitarium (Seattle 1989) Sad but true music video Wherever I may roam music video One (Seattle 1989) Batter (Seattle 1989) Blackened (Seattle 1989) No leaf clover s&m 1 Outlaw torn Germany 25,2019 Harvester of sorrow (Moscow 1991) Creeping death (Moscow 1991) Justice for all (Seattle 1989) Master of puppets (Seattle 1989) Reason for live performances is cause this show is the best metal show the energy the rawness is just awesome
another hiphop head we gonna make them convert to metalhead😂 try something like hiphop mix with metal. rages againts the machine - down rodeo they got some bars iyk !
Doesn’t really have anything to do with programming or head antennas lol it’s about the horrors of war, the soldier you follow from the beginning as a child gets blown up and loses his limbs, the flash and shrapnel has destroyed his face so he can’t see, hear, or speak as well! The “antenna” were sutures holding the mask covering his destroyed face partly so others aren’t disturbed by the sight and partly to help with infection during healing! It’s a hellish existence however and he uses his head nodding morse code trying to end his suffering! Metallica songs are deep try Master Of Puppets😈
What is going on is the soldier was severely injured by a mortar shell during WW1 had had his jaw, arms legs, vision, hearing and brain damaged from it
The doctors believed he was brain dead, but he wasn't, they just wanted to show their new surgical skills off, believing he would never know what was happening to him.
Yall should really try pulling up the lyrics and know what's being said instead of trying to guess. I have to do the same thing with rap music because of all the street slang.
It'd be cool if you had a green screen behind you then played the music video on that as well as the main screen so ur not blocking so much out. also Metallica rules. Good choice 👍
The lyrics that explain the song is: Landmine has taken my sight Taken my speech Taken my hearing Taken my arms Taken my legs Left me with life in hell
You should probably check your audio of you talking, it's primarily coming in my right ear. The audio from the music video is normal, it's the audio of you talking that is primarily coming from my right ear.
good song, but for me, this album was a bit the start of their temporary downfall (softer sound to try to please radios & MTV), but I always enjoyed One, especially live (they play everything faster). I went 5 times to watch them (1985, 1993, 1999, 2009 & 2023). Even in their 60's, these guys still rock.
Saying this album has a softer sound is crazy. If you want to consider their downfall as when they got “softer” then look at the black album and beyond. This album doesn’t have every track being 210 bpm but it does have a couple. This is their most prog album, which at the time wasn’t very commercial.
The point is to listen for the first time with no previous knowledge. Seems like you have missed something here too. There are a couple hundred other videos on this channel you could have researched before making the comment as well but we only have constructive comments here. Thanks for watching
And I’m well aware of how reactions work. The difference is: the good ones take the time to appreciate the song instead of sitting thru a video just to get thru it to say you did it.

Based on the book "Johnny got his gun".
He couldn't blink he had no eyes or eyelids he could only move his head.
The lines… Landmine has taken my sight, taken my speech, taken my hearing, taken my arms, taken my legs, taken my soul. Left me with life in hell.
One always makes me cry. Hello from Toronto. All songs Metallica does is gold. One of my top 5 fav artists. Ur reactions were dope. I will check out more of ur vids.
thx for reaction greetings from germany...
👊likewise👊
This song is based on the story "Johnny got his gun".
It's a pies of art, a masterpies. Every time I get goosebumps.
11:13 He said: Darkness imprisoning me, not Doctors.
He said, "darkness imprisoning me all that I see, absolute horror..."
It wasn't the "Doctors" imprisoning him. It was the "Darkness"... He was in a war, and was injured by a landmine. He basically lost his arms, legs, sight and hearing.

In the song it’s a landmine. In the book, it’s mortar fire.
The line was "darkness imprisoning me". Not whatever you said about the doctors.
Should watch the Howard stern video where they play this live in studio. James explained why he wrote it remembering how he felt like “one” after his mom died
Words in the song are literal, not much metaphor. Just what a soldier who lost his sight, hearing, speech, arms and legs in a landmine feels...
Welcome to real musical talent.

"I've seen the Metallica cartoon." You're probably thinking of "Metalocalypse," which is a different thing than this band.

GOAT
You gotta do Enter Sandman 1991 Moscow concert, and the song Creeping Death from the same Concert.
🔥🔥
You stepped on the end...
What is your intro song? Sounds nice
Thanks! It’s a Dilla original
Yall should really try pulling up the lyrics and know what's being said instead of trying to guess. I have to do the same thing with rap music because of all the street slang.
War is Hell ….the aftermath is worse
Another great Metallica track about war - “Disposable Heroes”
The lady ("Synthin"? that's what I heard) is only in the right ear with headphones. I think her mic is bad, i'm hearing clicking when she speaks
What song or video is he watching wow
Тот самый случай, когда вместо того, чтобы вслушаться в смысл песни и видео, ты вытаскиваешь то, чем наполнена твоя черепная коробка.
I can't believe you completely miss this. This is an anti war song. I'm everything is literally showing war.
They don't know what they're even watching. No disrespect. Not their thang. No problem.
It'd be cool if you had a green screen behind you then played the music video on that as well as the main screen so ur not blocking so much out. also Metallica rules. Good choice 👍

These are older videos. Audio issues have since been fixed.
@@SmokinMusicReactions ok, thanks for the response

I’ve never seen anything misconstrued so badly. Lol. The lyrics are available online.

@ that’s all great…. But you still missed the point of the song. Lol
And I’m well aware of how reactions work. The difference is: the good ones take the time to appreciate the song instead of sitting thru a video just to get thru it to say you did it.
