  • In this video, I compare the cameras on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Galaxy S24 Ultra, two of the most powerful smartphones on the market. I test both phones in various lighting conditions, from bright daylight to dark night, and see how they perform in video mode. I also show you some of the features and settings that each phone offers, such as optical zoom, 8K resolution, HDR, and more.
    The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a quad-camera setup on the back, with a 200MP wide-angle camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and two 10MP telephoto cameras with 3x and 10x optical zoom. It also has a 12MP selfie camera on the front. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a similar setup, but with a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom instead of the 10MP one. Both phones can record videos in up to 8K resolution at 30fps, or 4K resolution at 60fps. The Galaxy S24 Ultra can also record 4K at 120fps in Pro Video Mode and Slow Motion Mode. They also support HDR10+ and OIS for enhanced dynamic range and stabilization.
    Which phone has the better camera for video recording? Watch the video to find out, and don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more tech reviews and comparisons. Thanks for watching!

      Please make up your own opinion. S23U isn't that great. Was on the edge of buying iphone 15 Pro but I think the S24U is pretty great and more towards iphone 15 if you look at the color science, contrast, noise control.

    I love how you point out all the issues with no bias. I'll keep my S23U for a year and wait for a bigger hardware improvement (hopefully next year), I'd really love an under-display front-facing cam, I barely use selfies and I'd love to have that beautiful front screen with no punch-hole. 😄I believe ZTE has the most advanced under-display cameras that are impossible to see by eye while they maintain a decent selfie cam quality. It'd be really cool if Samsung could do something similar.

      I have an S23 Ultra and honestly if I ever need to take a selfie I use the vastly superior main camera... I don't need a selfie camera and would gladly not have it on my S23ULTRA screen as well!

      @Anjula321 4 месяца назад

      the quality of ZTE under display cameras are awful. it's impressive tech but can't really compare them to modern normal selfie lenses.
      I think they'll just feature on gaming phones where selfie shooters don't matter as much till the tech improves.

    WOW, a solid comparison. What most reviewers do, after they get the phone for free to review it is, that they take bunch of photos and videos and pick the ones, that will suit best to what they want to achieve in their review. S24 ultra is a slightly better phone, but will need updates, just like the S23 got up to this point, to get even better. It will happen 100%. But S23 ultra will get updates as well, to bring it closer to S24 ultra. If you own an S23, it is probably smartest to wait out one round, till the S25. I hope they do something more radical next year, not just slight improvements in terms of design, performance and features.

    12MP on S24 ultra tends to be overprocessed on the images, however, if you switch to the 200MP or 50MP, things changes and result in a more natural/darker image.

    5:41 what a beautiful oak table. Are all these photos from the Winchester mystery house? That's on my bucket list to visit. Anywho, what about taking photos in RAW mode? I haven't heard anybody taking about that yet, that's still a thing, right?

      Yep, all the interior photos were from the Winchester House. It’s definitely something you should check out.
      RAW is still a thing but it’s hard to compare it since the benefit of RAW is for post processing and color correction and filters are subjective.

    I got the S23 Ultra a year ago and had camera issues like shutter lag and low shutter speed when taking photos of children, and also oversaturisation for like food but also of my skin during a video call. They later fixed these issues. It´s kinda strange that you get the newest most expensive camera and having problems like this. It´s like it´s better to wait half a year or so after release getting the phone, at least if you´re a camera person.

    After years of enjoying the reliability and performance of my Note 10+, I made the leap to the Samsung S24 Ultra, anticipating an upgrade in camera quality. Despite my satisfaction with the Note 10+ overall, I sought a change due to its tendency to produce oversaturated colors, particularly noticeable in main camera shots.
    With the impressive camera capabilities of my work phone, the S22, in mind, I was excited to experience the advancements promised by the S24 Ultra. However, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment upon discovering a noticeable drop in image quality, especially in scenes with high dynamic range.
    Comparing images captured by the S22 and the S24 Ultra, I observed that the latter tends to crush details in shadows excessively, rendering them as complete black areas. This results in a loss of overall image quality and makes it challenging to discern details within these darker regions. Additionally, the images from the S24 Ultra appear grainier compared to the crisp output of my S22, detracting from their clarity and sharpness.
    Furthermore, I've noticed that the final images from the S24 Ultra undergo excessive processing, with unnecessary additional exposure added, further diminishing their appeal.
    I don't know if these issues are only faced by me, but other than those image processing issues, the phone is sublime.
    While I remain hopeful that these issues can be addressed through future software updates, it's essential for Samsung to hear feedback from users like myself to prioritize improvements. I'm curious to learn if others have encountered similar challenges with their S24 Ultra and if there are any potential solutions or workarounds available to enhance camera performance.
    As a longtime fan of Samsung products, I had high expectations for the S24 Ultra's camera quality, but unfortunately, it has not met my hopes straight out of the box.

    All these promises of software updates to improve the camera performance of the S24 Ultra are part of the sales drive by Samsung. They are just being business savvy in promising this. In reality however software updates generally only have a minimal effect, or they seem to 'avoid' key issues. Anything they avoid tends to become a long term issue. For example, my Exynos S21 Ultra had very poor noise control in low light video at launch. Samsung promised an update to fix this so sales kept happening and revenue kept on coming in. Three years my later my 21U still has AWFUL noise control in low light video. Software update promises mean little sadly.

    Differences year over year are now minor. Even a "big leap" from s21u to s23u is small in everyday use. I would have regretted but i cascade phones down in my family

    I hope samsung comes out with an update for the 24 ultra because right now I'm regretting trading in my s23 because the s23 camera is way better. My s24's camera is too contrasty, my pics and videos are too dark and it wasn't like that on my s23. Im waiting for that update anxiously!!! Sometimes i think i have a defective unit because ive seen videos on RUclips and they don't look like mine. Mine is way darker, photo and videos and i end up using my iphone 15 pro max because of that. Samsung please fix it......

    I bought the S23U when it was released and in the beginning the camera was pretty bad and it was improved 6 to 8 months later, expect the same for this one. The real problem of S23U is oversharpening, excessive microcontrast and reds that has nothing to do with what I see with my eye, horrible reds; today for videos I use my Gopro instead of my S23U because of Samsung´s horrible oversharpening and microcontrast.

    23 ultra is the way to go!!! Typing on one now. Absolutely 0 point in shedding out 1300 bucks or trading in a better phone for a worse phone(camera department) in hopes they fix those issues. 0 point. Same main sensor and, don't take low light video with zoom on the 23 ultra cause the sensor is so small. Problem fixed. That's like running with zoom and testing the stabilization. Who does that?! Lol

    I'm a Samsung fan, but I think that today, we have to admit that Samsung is really purposely staying in excessive oversaturation and unnecessary overexposure (especially in the background) in photo-video 🤦🏽‍♂️
    Just by lowering the exposure by 1-2 notches, the quality you get is so so much better.
    But if you have to do it every time you take a photo-video, it becomes annoying, and it's unacceptable, incomprehensible that Samsung's engineers don't realize it, to think that they are constantly working with very smoky sunglasses 🕶️ 🤔
    Samsung should genuinely think about adding a realistic color profile to its photo app for photography, or allowing users to have something like the ''Photographic Style'' of iPhones, to allow us Galaxy users who can't stand oversaturation and excessive overexposure to adjust that.
    Ps: don't tell me about the Pro mode (I've known and used it for years), I ask to have this in automatic mode, not everyone is (certainly not) a professional photographer, but would like to have the possibility to make some quick adjustments to their liking.

    A software update would resolve 90% of the criticisms made about the S24 ultra.
    when the s23 ultra was launched it had the same complaints

  • @03chrisv

    Have to keep in mind the S24U is running on what is essentially beta software, whereas the S23U has had a whole year of updates under its belt.

    • @03chrisv
      @03chrisv 4 месяца назад

      @OT4Tech When the vivid mode doesn't even work among other broken things, it's definitely beta software. I've been to the Samsung forums these past few days, there's A LOT of issues with the S24 Ultra. The phone came in really HOT with a lot of little bugs, and this is coming from someone that owns a S24 Ultra. Don't get me wrong, it's a great phone that is fairly polished on the surface, but it has a lot of little cracks when you dig deeper that need to be patched. Don't you remember the S23 Ultra getting camera updates to fix it's issues and improve quality? Same thing will happen with the S24 Ultra.

    • @OT4Tech
      @OT4Tech  4 месяца назад

      Right, but that doesn't mean it's beta software. That's an issue with Samsung rushing unfinished products out. We were told that the software was final. Beta software is not something companies ship to paying customers it's something that you choose to opt in for but can always fall back on the stable version.

    • @03chrisv
      @03chrisv 4 месяца назад

      @OT4Tech Beta software vs rushed unpolished software is just a semantics distinction, they're functionally the same experience for the end user. One UI 6.1 is definitely sub optimal with missing and broken features. Maybe I'm being a bit hyperbolic to call it beta software, but it definitely feels like it is.

    Compare to s23ultra, don't think s24 ultra does anything to justify the price hike in the USA. Once AI features rolled out to s23ultra, we are technically looking at same phone. And I think color options are pretty ugly this year too

    0:56 The S24 Ultra has less digital sharpness and captures shadow detail better. It's literally a more "professional" looking image. In fact, that's a MAJOR plus for me. Any videographer that uses "real" cameras would agree that almost the FIRST thing you do when getting a new camera is turn the sharpness all the way down. They would also agree that most of the time it's best to shoot in a LOG format. Why? Because it captures more highlight/shadow detail. The S24 Ultra's image is much better in my opinion but I'm someone that's been practicing videography since 2012. The average person doesn't understand the benefits and just wants something "punchy" straight out of the camera. The funny part is those exact same people will just apply a TikTok filter to the video anyway 🤦‍♂
    As for the other issues, mine was literally just delivered today. Give it some time to get ironed out lol

    • @OT4Tech

      Your confusing log with decreased saturation and contrast due to over exposure. You’re literally losing information in most of the shots due to the highlights being clipped. Also, I said at the end of the video and in the very beginning that an update is coming and I’ll redo any comparisons. But, it’s my job to relay this information since Samsung is watching our videos so they know how and what to fix.

      Yes, and you did your job very well. If they don't fix this...
      If the highlights are the subject of your picture and they are overexposed, your subject is gone... I can't believe that they missed that.
