I had the immense pleasure of witnessing Kris Kristofferson perform this song live, at the Cambridge Folk Festival in 2010. It was the thrill of a lifetime.
'Why Me Lord' or 'Loving Her Was Easier Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again',and 'Help Me Make It Through The Night' are early hits of Kris's. Willie Nelson performed with Ray Charles on stage to the song 'Seven Spanish Angels'.
I love this song so much. That great penmanship, that's Kris kristofferson. You might enjoy some other stuff of him singing. I think in this duet he was holding back in deference to Johnny Cash. Me and Bobby McGee is a classic. Janice' cover of this was famous
Hi Biz!! Welcome back!! Missed you!! 😊💞 EDIT: Kris Kristofferson wrote a lot of great songs. Idk if you already know this but he wrote "Me and Bobby McGee' that Janis Joplin had a HUGE hit with! ❤
Wow. I didn't know Johnny was getting blocked. That's a pity. I was going to recommend the Highwaymen's song the Highwayman. This band is Johnny, Kris, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. Great song!
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 My friend 🙏 good to see 👀 you again 👍 I really like to see your reaction to Jhonny Cash and Bob Dylan Song is beautiful Try the one with the lyrics Song is 🎵🎶Girl from the north country🎶🎶🎵 You gonna love this one too Keep the good work Biz 👏 🙌 👍 👌 💪🏻
This is the song Kris couldn't get anyone to listen to when he was a young songwriter shopping. his songs around Nashville. He really wanted Johnny Cash to record it but, being a relatively unknown songwriter at the time, getting a song into the hands of Johnny Cash was nearly impossible. So, what to do? Well, Kris (having been a helicopter pilot) rented a helicopter, put a cassette tape demo of the song in his pocket, flew the helicopter to Johnny Cashes house, landed the copter in Cash's back yard and, when an angry and befuddled Cash came out of the house to find out what idiot had landed a danged helicopter in his back yard, Kris handed Cash the cassette tape and said... well, I'm not sure what he said but it was something along the lines of "Here, take a listen to this!" And the rest, as they say, is history.
Actually, he didn't rent the helicopter. He " borrowed" it from The National Guard unit he was in after serving as a pilot in early Vietnam. Johnny Cash wasn't just curious about A helicopter, but one marked US Army (Cash served in Air Force intercepting and decrypting Soviet radio messages). Once Johnny listened to it, he told Kris to take the helicopter back before he got in trouble and return the next day. When he did, they went into the little recording studio Johnny had and laid down better quality tracks for Johnny to take to the studio... both for management and for the set musicians that were called in so everyone had a basic knowledge of what it was supposed to be in order to convey that emotion
Honey.. I want to hear the question..Please.. The one thing I know for sure... Kris was an amazing songwriter.. he prolly made most of his money.. like Dolly with revenue from songwriting. Songwriters truly make bank. Kris was one of the best and Dolly still is. There's a list you can go down with each of them.
Don't ever think Kris was a great singer.. he could just hold his own.. Check out Why Me Lord.. another song Kris wrote.. Bobby McGee.. the list goes on.. But when Kris sings Why Me Lord it's great. And btw.. I LOVE Johnny Cash.. not taking anything away from Johnny ever.
Love, Johnny and Kristofferson thanks BIZ
Welcome back!! Both these men do great versions of this song.
What a treat. Two country music legends - Kris's beautiful, relatable lyrics and that voice of Johnny's - iconic. RIP Lovely men.

Great, authentic, reaction at then end as you reviewed the lyrics to one of Kris' best songs.
A song from my childhood 😊 Somewhat depressing lyrics, gives you the melancholy feel of a Sunday.

That moment when Kris started singing showed how much he respected Johnny Cash, he was actually nervous.

Kris was a great writer, but he was not a showman, everybody did his songs, but he loved to write!

It was most likely Willie Nelson with Ray Charles, Seven Spanish Angels
This song was very controversial when it came out and Johnny sang it on his TV show, not giving a fuck as per usual. Its a great tune.
Willie Nelson

Only half the song here. There is another verse they didn't sing on this show.
Not the full version.
