I believe here will be a major update to the Harrier adding functionality in RazBam's work to finish up their module. I'm glad I found your channel, looking forward for more informative videos
Anyone whos new the process of adding targets has changed to the f10 map. F10 MAP designation rework. a. Now it is not required to create an unlabeled Marker. Marker Label must now say '#TPn' where n is a number. b. In MP environment it will only load the Markers created by the pilot. Hope it helps. Thanks Deephack
Great overview. I would add the NAVFLIR HUD mode (HUD to NITE and SSS depress) and how to adjust it with the gain and contrast dials on the HUD controls. NAVFLIR in WhiteHot at night is fantastic!
Totally agree, the only reason I omitted it is because in latest open beta it seems to be broken. I couldn't get it to engage despite the fact I'm sure I used it a couple of months ago. I am planning to do a night ops dedicated tutorial in any case and so I'll cover it there.
@@deephack I'll check later today. I did not check after last OpenBeta Hotfix, but there are significant changes to the adjustment of the HUD overlay. You can't just switch it on, you now need to adjust Gain and Contrast for WHot and BHot modes with the dials for the HUD.
@@deephack ok, there is a change to the HOTAS. You now need to do SSS right for NAVFLIR on the MFD, set HUD mode to NIGHT and now depress SSS twice. On the HUD panel with WHot selected adjust Video BRT to 2 o'clock and CONT to about 1 o'clock or what suites you best.
Thanks so much for looking into this. I clearly missed a patch note somewhere and just assumed that this wasn't working. I'll include this in the night flying video I record soon.
Hey man, thank you so much for these tutorials. When I press Use in the CAS page on the right MFCD like you are doing in min 17:40 the EHSD page turns red (Like when you press on Data), I'm not sure if that's supposed to happen. I press Data and it goes back to green, but when I'm following your other tutorial in how to release JDAMs and press the DESC button, I don't see the same symbology in the EHSD page (The minimum range of when you can release the bomb), I'm just seeing the regular EHSD page with a waypoint. Edit: I forgot to mention that I made sure the targets show up as T1, T2, etc on the CAS > RCALL page
Well spotted, these are actually changes made in DCS 2.7.0. I'm currently working on a video showcasing these changes which I may have ready by the weekend.
Nice video! So, the sensors are used to designate targets but don't actually provide guidance in the weapons delivery? Other than the laser and GPS guided stuff, is it always the ARBS generating the HUD symbology to drop the weapons?..thanks
When I reposition target points or waypoints via the map with the TDC, sometimes my TDC axes are inverted, sometimes not. What's up with that? Also, are your instructions (TDC depress) applicable with TDC action/no action box checked or unchecked? Can mark circles simulating JTAC be created by other players or can I only get those in my CAS page that I created myself?
The axis inversion I believe is a known bug. TDC action/no action I've not been able to work out at all so far. It's supposed to change the slew speed as I understand it but on or off it doesn't seem to do anything for me and there is no documentation right now. The mark circles can only be created by yourself. There is now the ability to get CAS targets from a JTAC though which I'll be making a video on this week.
Yes, everything is still up to date. As soon as it isn't I'll update the videos. Only significant change so far has been with the mavericks but there is an addendum video at the end of the playlist for that.
Is adding the target coords using the F10 map, creating target points and labeling T00, T01,T02 etc then RShift/RAlt/0 still the current method? I get nothing when I try this on the ground with engines off and when I try it in the air I get a message stating I can only make changes on the ground with the engines off.
Ah, sorry for the confusion. This is still the current procedure but the keyboard command should be RShift/RAlt/8. My mistake. Also this should work at any time.
When I try to lock on using the dmt I find that the cursor is a bit ‘squirrely’ and moves too fast to properly lock on until I’m really close, it also tends to be inaccurate unless I’m really close and can properly get the target lined up. Any tips how to deal with this? I have a warthog hotas as you do so it’s not like my equipment is as fault. Also, unless you actually tend to create a mission yourself, most user generated single player missions or multiplayer servers don’t mark targets on the map so this technique only tends to work If you created the mission yourself
Hey, is this series still relevant? Tried to use this aircraft after couple years of pause, discovered that old methods doesn't work, manual is not updated, training missions are bugged.
Yes, these videos are still up to date. Check the addendums at the end of the playlist for things which have changed since these were filmed but it's quite minimal.
These videos are superb, Harrier was my first module. After watching your series I’m back playing it. Thank you.
Glad to hear it, the harrier is a great module in DCS. Enjoy!

These tutorials are great. 👍👍👍
Great Video. Thanks for sharing
Very helpful video and tutorial series - thanks for sharing!
Sup Gurk, when can I steal you for a de-bridging of the battlefield?

Great video. Thanks!
Thanks, glad you liked it.
Great videos, they've really helped me get into the harrier. Is there an LST withing the TPOD like in the Hornet?
@deephack at 16:56 you provide two different keyboard combinations "RS+RA+0" and a few seconds later "RS+RA+8" - I'm confused :-)
Yes, good catch. It is in fact RS+RA+8 to load the targets into the ATHS. Spectacular brain fail :-D

@@deephack yeah, I was able to figure out what happened lol you need to set up the Fuze and select your targets from the bomb profile.

Am I wrong in saying (FLIR) "fleer" instead of "Flur?"
Most of my comments are me simply feeding the algorithm, dont feel you must reply ;)
Haha, thanks for the algorithm help. I also say fleer but I think it'll vary.

@@deephack Thank you very much.
It seems the FLIR hotspot detector is closer to being ready than I thought ruclips.net/video/0p7tL6mb3fs/видео.html
Have you ever been flying with this before ?
Yes, this is video 6 in the series.
