my 4 yr old made me find this! he is amazing and I adore him. he hummed this for days and I have no idea where it came from. we listen to classical, not too often. you rock Augustus! thanks son
Lol, awesome. I think for an adult, your capatalization isn't very good, but whatever. Ah, don't hate. Tell your son, Augustus that he is _very_ smart and he should be proud
This piece is so energetic. As a violinist for 10 years (I'm 18 now), it is great to see this song being played often. Bizet is one of my favorite composers. =)
This, 1812 overture, ode to joy, Mars bringer of war, in the hall of the mountain king and the firebird finale are the most epic pieces of classical music (in my opinion)
@Lolgummeybear because in Axis Powers episode 6, Arthur Kirkland (England) sang a song with this tune around the campfire. (England's Marshmallow Song) And Alfred F. Jones (America) burst out saying "I feel like we're summoning the devil!!"
to understand this music.... a Farandole was a dance special to the south of France and is in fact a 'running' dance, i.e. the dancers are in line or a circle following one another, with all the dancer's hands joined fore and aft - they run very quickly as the increasing 'accelerando' of the music seeks to emulate.
I am playing this in my orchestra, and my conductor made up a whole story bout what he thinks when he hears the piece... Here it is: So one vey cold morning a grumpy Russian man is in a pub, and he is thinking, "I wish I got a puppy for Christmas when i was younger". Flashback to his childhood. A little Russian boy runs downstairs to the Christmas tree hoping for a puppy, and he thinks a present is a puppy so he opens it. It was not a puppy, it was a toaster. He is sad, but then a flying puppy pops out of the toaster! The boy is happy, but then the puppy flies away, out the window! So now he is forever a grumpy Russian man who never got his puppy. Return to the pub. He sips his vodka, the a flying puppy appears next to his bottle! He hugs the puppy and the 2 run away into the distance. That is it... My conductor even threatened to turn the temperature in our rehearsal room down so it was cold like Russia, and he conducted the whole orchestra in a Russian accent... Welcome to my music department.
Playing this in my orchestra- love it! It's brilliant how it constantly builds up and builds up to the ending. I'd have written a more elamorate cadence though....
@Melodiousnocturne93 They currently only play it during concerts. But if you look up Streetlight Manifesto Intro (often paired with The Receiving End of It All) it's the bands version of this, with a few changes. Pretty awesome.
LOL many people watching this are Hetalia fans... I am too of course and I love Iggy >.< But onto the actual music it's very beautiful and calming, I'd love to learn this on violin when I increase my skills (which is gonna take a while, but i'll try hard :P )

hope it dies of leukemia
Sweet
One of the best versions I have heard. Tempo is perfect, drums on point! Great ending! Bravo!
There aren't drums in classical music.
@@midnightdieman - well in this song, there is rolling percussion from drums. Just listen.
Clarté des timbres, articulation des sons, justesse des rythmes : voilà de la musique française !
Bravo à tous !
As stirring now in November 2023 as it was when first written, and first posted on RUclips. Fantastic.

Superbe interprétation d'un orchestre éminemment sympathique et respirant la joie... A écouter sans modération.
The most important part of being a conductor is having hair that flops
So true
0:52 the dude smiling in the back caught me off guard
Bizet est un magnifique compositeur!
Bravo pour cette interprétation pleine de vie; on entend les cigales cymbaliser parmi les chênes verts sous l'ardent soleil de Provence.
I had learned it when I was young at school, in the French lesson, what a nice !!!!
Excelente, la mejor interpretación de "La Arlesiana" que he escuchado, tengo 60 años, vivo en la Ciudad de México

Love this! I went to find a recording of this song just to show my sister, and was crushed by how many directors interrupted it.
Wonderful classical piece, played to perfection by a fantastic orchestra.
Thank you very much for that.
Amazing Piece of art !

Wow, great performance! Wish I could play like that lol
It's actually a pretty simple song to play, but it sounds much more complicated

It would be almost impossible to better this performance. The understanding of the underlying story is crucial. They've got it. Perfection.
