    Tarja is mystic Queen, no one other singing better those Nightwish songs. Operatic power metal songs are purifying and slower ones like Sleeping sun and Walking in the air cannot be sang better. Thanks Tarja.

      floor is in a whole other level and she does sing some of Tarja songs better not all but most

    • @soundslikeblue
      @soundslikeblue Год назад +16

      @@rafab2526 Nightwish also lowered the keys of many of those older songs so that Floor can sing them easier (Stargazers, Dead boy's poem, Sacrament of Wilderness, Ghetsemane, Sleeping Sun, She is my Sin, etc.)... So I gess you sugest Floor is in a different level, but Not necessarily a higher one, because the keys went Lower.
      The choral parts and some orchestral parts were also toned down in songs like Ghost Love Score, so Floor's voice can have more space to shine... and I actually believe Nightwish did well on making those instrumental changes because this way Floor is more confortable with those songs, and she can do her own versions with more freedom (which she does greatly in my opinion, as she probably would have a hard time belting higher notes on most of those original keys).
      I actually like BOTH Floor and Tarja, BUT it was You who brought the comparison, so you must expect already to deal with different points of view. After all its great to know Floor and Tarja support eachother, we can also like them both even if we have a preference (for you Floor, for me Tarja, its ok).
      Have a nice day/night (depending on where you are)!

    • @rafab2526
      @rafab2526 Год назад +1

      @@soundslikeblue so not true.... Those songs were already toned down for Anette, and Tuomas preferred those versions as they are different, knowing Floor since the After Forver days back in 2000 , she had more challenging songs in After Forever and ReVamp than any song in Nightwish, do yourself a favor and check Wild Cars by ReVamp or After Forever Decipher or Invisible Circles so you see what a challenging sing is, and Tarja could never sing any of those songs

      @@rafab2526 Ok Rafa, I have the old After Forever Cds here at home still... And I get your point.
      Some singers excell in one aspects while others do in different ones, believe me I'm not hating on Floor at all, I actually went to a Nightwish concert with her in back in 2016 and I still support the band. However, I think its not objective to say that Floor is "in a whole other level" ... I actually believe that Tarja and Floor are both in the Highest level concerning the heavy rock/metal vocal scene, they are really closer although they use their voices in a very different way... To state that Floor sings most of "Tarja songs better" than Tarja herself from a technical point of view it is simply Not true. We probably prefer different aspects of singing, and/or different singing qualities...
      From a personal taste point of view there only subjectivity and to each person there can be a different emotional connection to different vocal colours.
      Cheers! \m/ \m/

      @@rafab2526 Floor is not other level at all. She's a common singer that belts and screams mostly because of the simple fact she cant sing high notes, she has to scream. She can't project her voice as Tarja does either, she's no classical singer and her voice is very thin, sometimes sounding like a mosquito. She tends to skip some lyrics, for example in Dark Chest of Wonders, she even had to change multiple things in all the old nw songs to fit her voice because of the lack of technique. So , if you prefer a singer screaming every single word, got it, but just stop for once overpraising her. Nw sounds like any other symphonic metal band out there. And dont get me started on how her low notes are so uncomfortable to listen

    Thank you Tarja for saying you have to speak yourself and also saying you have to have good people who support you.
    I love all type of music. I also like BTS they also talk about speak yourself/love yourself.
    I discovered you through my oldest son. When he saw you with Nightwish. Then later he saw you again with your solo.
    I started liking you.
    Also saw you and Floor last year with the two of you having a conversation talking about your children etc.
    I wish you all the luck and happiness, you truly deserve it.
    Thank you Tarja to me music is healing and can bring people together.
    Warm greetings from The Netherlands.

    This is a rare thing. An interview with an eloquent interviewer and great questions, even when touching delicate matters. I liked the honest and straight way you asked about Nightwish and I think it is the first time Tarja says it so candidly. It needed to happen and they were miserable. Pretty much sums it up. Also the fact that she grew to be very strong and to not take shit from anybody any more. She seemed to be very introverted and insecure when she started in music, how could she not?
    A student of classical singing in a small village being asked to sing for a friend's band and all of the sudden he fuses metal and lyric singing together and the band becomes this huge machine. Life of a touring singer back then, specially a woman in a male dominated environment without proper guidance or the niceties they have these days was quite rough for her. She truly carved her way through that stone path with no other singer to take advice from on how to sound or how to make it easier for her but that's why she is where she is. It made her into a humble, honest, funny, talented and smart person she is today. I truly believe that the largest part of her fanbase is there for her solo work not for Nightwish any more. Yes, they started with them but they stayed because her music speaks to them as well.

    This is one of my favourite Tarja Turunen interviews so far, and believe me I've watched a lot of them since 2004 (when I firstly started to listen to Nightwish).
    The different subjects were introduced with such ease, it was just naturally flowing, congratulations to the interviewer for being interested in Tarja's music, voice, and art, with a wise balance into the more biographical/personal stuff (the only question I would add would be about another future classical album release, but I understand that since the focus of this channel is more about rock, it would be a bit more outside of the box) and congratulations to Tarja also for being such a generous person who talks with honesty and with genuine empathy with the interviewer.
    Tarja has to be proud about all the musical diversity she brought to the heavy rock/metal scene since co-founding Nightwish in 1996. Tarja Turunen's concerts bring us so much happiness and her solo albuns show such progress and evolution (my favourite being "In the Raw", and I hope she never gives up playing "Serene" and "Dead promisses" in her concerts, also "Deliverance" is one of my favourites). Naturally, the "one Nightwish song" Tarja puts in the setlist is always a wave of Nostalgia for old fans like me (I remember specially the Amazing "Stargazers" renditions from the 2011 / 2012 tours, or every "Sleeping Sun" performance which are pure magic), BUT we are there to listen to Tarja Turunen songs, because they are superb! and even if she didn't sing that one Nightwish song (or medley) we would still go there, of course! Thank you for everything, Tarja! \m/ \m/

    • @soundslikeblue
      @soundslikeblue Год назад +3

      @@megaTherionXX Well, I guess I can understand your point, But you might also view that the topic of a "Best of" album is always pushing a retrospective view of an artists' career, and as Tarja herself said, if there wouldn't be an immersion into the metal scenne and music during the Nightwish years, and also a separation afterwards, everything would have been different, I'm glad she acknowledges the Experience she gained in every different step of her career!
      Cheers! \m/ \m/

    • @megaTherionXX
      @megaTherionXX Год назад +1

      @@soundslikeblue Mhm I guess so, you are right about that - but if you follow Tarja's career closely then you'll notice that she's quite consistent about what she's replying to this topic. Another questioning wont change her view, that's what I mean... I wonder if Mr Holopainen is also always being asked about Tarja and 25y ago stuff. :)

    There is no Nightwish, without Tarja. Annette did a good job on Passion and Imaginerum. The band disintegrated musically after Jukka retired and Marco quit. 1995-2006 Nightwish years produced one of the greatest bands in history. Hopefully there will be reconciliation, between Tom and Tarja.

I don't agree with them because I think Floor has done absolutely incredible performances of NW hits and put her "stamp" on them. There's room in one's ❤ for many Artists _ musical influences.

    Tarja coming to Australia for the Nightshift ? I don't believe it...... HaHaHa !!!! Us Aussies can never roll those R's like those Europeans can.... But then again some Europeans can't understand our Aussie accent. You sound like a Melbournian Bud even though you are from Sydney.... .
    I have been following her career on and off for about 3-4 years, but I'm not really a fan. I do like some of her songs though. We do have similar kooky, spooky and warped personalities, which probably makes me coming back for more. ( to her website/s ).
