    20 years from now they'll name a stand after Ranieri at Leicester's stadium. Didn't treat him properly when it mattered though. Reminds me a lot of Bobby Moore at West Ham. When he was alive the club didn't even let him in the ground without a ticket or give him a job once he retired, but after he died they named a stand after him and pretended like nothing happened!

The truth is I didn't think they should go down this season but I could see a situation where they could so I put a cheeky bet on it. I definitely don't think they should have been expected to finish anywhere higher than 9th though.

    Think about it, the reason he's gotten sacked is because he WON the league last season. If Leicester was just decent mid table last season, he wouldn't be sacked right now because theres room to improve but now football is fcuked. Shame on you for sacking the poor guy, he made history and this is what he gets.

    Maybe if Leicester got demolished by Sevilla 7-0, Leicester could have sacked Ranieri. But a 2-1 loss on the road and he gets fired? This is why I like places like MLS, where big money means nothing.

    • @markkeplinger7480
      @markkeplinger7480 8 лет назад +7

      Neil Secor yeah no relegation. It means the league stays competitive and a salary cap means that anyone can win. American sports are a lot less business minded (save the NFL and maybe NCAA, but even they at least care about the sport). People hate bandwagons in the us, and love people who support their team. Maybe the quality of the MLS isn't as good, but the competitiveness is at least still there compared to La Liga or the Bundesliga.
      Also most American and Thai internationals come from their respective domestic leagues, and the US could obliterate Thailand, not to mention the US is consistently making sweet 16 in the World Cup.

    • @nothisispatrick1753
      @nothisispatrick1753 8 лет назад +1

      Mark Keplinger Wrong. We do hate bandwagoners but guess what. The MAJORITY of people in the US still are lmao

    • @markkeplinger7480
      @markkeplinger7480 8 лет назад +3

      No, This is Patrick have you been to the US? Yes there is a lot of them, but there is more loyalty. This perception is because a TON of celebrities and sports figures (when talking about other sports of course) are bandwagons

  • @bradleyleadbitter2391
    @bradleyleadbitter2391 8 лет назад +101

    I couldn't agree more about the loyalty point! I'm a Middlesbrough fan and I've seen a lot of people saying Aitor Karanka should be sacked, while many of us are firmly behind him there's a big section of fans who say he needs to go because our "Defensive football will get us relegated", I just cant understand how people can turn on someone who in his short time with us has brought us so many incredible memories and done so much for the club! When he arrived, we were battling relegation from the championship, he steadied us, then took us to a play off final, then the season after got us automatic promotion leading us back to the premier league after SEVEN YEARS out, we've had under Karanka league cup wins over Man United, Man City and with Karanka's tactics we've held our own against most of the big clubs in our first season back, we've not even been in the relegation zone once this season yet there are fans calling for him to lose his job, it's disgusting the lack of loyalty to a man who has given us SO many incredible memories and done so much for our club, if his "defensive football gets us relegated", I'll stand by and watch that happen without any regrets that he wasn't replaced because for me he's unquestionably earned the right to see through his first season managing in the premier league without the fear of losing his job with all he's done for our club!

    • @TheIVIrTroll
      @TheIVIrTroll 8 лет назад

      Bradley Leadbitter As a Boro fan as well, agree 100%, Karanka may play defensive football but what do the fans expect? Playing attacking football with an average squad that was built on it's defensive solidarity? Some fans just don't seem to get it

    • @victorf6672
      @victorf6672 8 лет назад

      Tony Pulis plays defensive football, the WBA board gave him a lot of time to build the squad and now, with the second to last budget in the Prem if I'm not mistaken, he has them in 8th, that is amazing, but that is only achieved with time, I never seen a lot of Boro or followed them, but if you are telling the truth, I really hope Aitor gets the time he deserves.

    Dream Scenario: Leicester gets relegated. Over the summer, they find a good manager in none other than Jurgen Klinsmann, former US coach. Jurgen brings Leicester back to the premier league and finish consistently mid table where Vardy and Magreb remain top class internationals. Raineri heads to Arsenal and in his first season, goes to the semis of the champions league losing to none other then Bayern Munich, Arsenal's european rival. Arsene Wenger heads State side and becomes US national team coach, staying for 15 years before winning the World Cup with team USA at MetLife Stadium spearheaded by the veteran Christian Pulisic (btw Bruce arena is a glorified interim manager). Arena goes back into the MLS filling in for when LA galaxy need an interim...

      Savage MLS is much stronger and more competitive than people give credit for. Granted, MLS teams do sign players out of their prime, but they produce good players as well. Some of these guys can go to Europe, play at a high level, then go win games for the national team. Players like Dempsey, and Bradley (in their prime) could make a splash in Europe. Their are tons of younger guys that will succeed given the right tools in both MLS and Europe. Plus, the legend Tim Howard is an MLS product

We are powerless to the board... we have to like it or lump it, we still love our club as we did as little boys growing up. The board would never had listened to us, unfortunately this kind of stupid decision is the problem with billionaire business men running clubs. It sickens me, we all love Ranieri and always will from the bottom of our hearts.

    Leicester are a sinking ship that Ranieri lost control of long ago. Its been no secret that Ranieri had alienated many of the players in the dressing room; I think I even read that he's had poor relationships with a lot of his own coaching staff this year. Also, having Ulloa refuse to play for the club because of him isn't exactly a good thing either. All i've heard people say since the announcement was that he should have been give a couple years or even until the end of the season but honestly, if the atmosphere in the dressing room is as bad as its been reported then it can only get worse by keeping him there. It's one thing to get in a rut of bad form or just have a bad season, but if Ranieri had truly "lost the dressing room" then all is lost; he had to be replaced, like Mourinho was. Its a sad realization to come to but the truth is that the relationship between Ranieri and his players was not in a good place, and with so much on the line it was too risky to "hope" that the two could make amends. Currently, Leicester are in desperate need of change in order to stop sleepwalking their way to relegation. As far as the club's board was concerned, there was only one change they could have made at this moment in an attempt to change the toxic environment suffocating their premier league lives, and that was sacking Ranieri. Obviously on a human level Ranieri didn't deserve to be sacked but that doesn't mean it wasn't the right decision to make. While he rightfully deserves praise for last season, he most definitely holds some blame for the ways things have soured since. Ultimately, while I would have loved to see him take the club to consistent mid table seasons I think his reign as King of Leicester has rightfully come to an end, as he has become disenfranchised from his players and staff.

    • @rehman1833
      @rehman1833 8 лет назад +1

      You make Leicester players sound like 12 year old kids. They are grown ups and professionals being paid bags of money to do a job. Only over-privileged people like them could get away with a complaint like that. Does that kind of attitude work for you or me, at our workplace? No, absolutely not.

    • @ryandesmond5477
      @ryandesmond5477 8 лет назад +4

      Leicester players are certainly not prepubescent teens. While the players on an individual level have been certainly under-performing in relation to last year, and there is certainly a portion of blame to put on them, I don't see how it makes a difference. Leicester, with the same players, was performing like this in the 2014/15 season, and even though Nigel Pearson brought them from the Championship they sacked him. Not because they were ungrateful but because him being in that position threatened their Premier League hopes; this is a similar scenario with Ranieri. He won the league, though this time it was the Premier League, then the next season the team underperforms (to the point of near relegation), the manager gets sacked in the spring and everyone crosses their fingers. The only difference now is because Ranieri won the league everyone thinks Leicester should risk everything and keep him in the name of gratuity (i simply do not). Newsflash, last season was BIZARRE. The team over performed, that is not their natural level. Now Leicester are back down to earth playing on their skill level. At this point in the season, the only thing a board can do is sack the gaffe, bring up some youth players and recall some loanees. But like i said, its not really the players, its the manager. In the summer if Leicester stay in the PL, like they did in 2015, i'd imagine they will bring in some new names on the pitch and in the staff. And to answer your last sentence, no; that wouldn't work in our workplace...because we don't play football in the PL. Two completely different environments and cultures. You're comparing apples to oranges.

    • @ryandesmond5477
      @ryandesmond5477 8 лет назад +1

      Also, Leicester are a relegation battling team. As title contending teams give their manager the objective of winning the title, relegation avoiding teams give their manager the objection of...avoiding relegation. How does a manager go about doing that? By getting the best out of his players, in combination with good tactics. Right now, Ranieri wasn't getting the best out of his players, and his tactics were all over the place. There was something new nearly every game. Each new tactic, like a drowning man gasping for air, was a last ditch effort at trying to salvage something from the season, but they never worked. That is why Ranieri got sacked.

    I agree, I really don't think he deserved to be sacked. He did so well in the past season and bloody won the PL title with a team no one expected to even stay in the league! With Kanté leaving it was always going to be extremely difficult and as Spencer said a lot of the players are 'only' average. New signings such as Musa and Mendy aren't doing too well and key players such as Vardy and Mahrez aren't up to it this season. Unfortunately Ranieri was the first casualty of Leicester's return back to earth.

    No manager is bigger than the club. Fans would rather see their club compete in the best league in the world, not lower league football with a manager employed based on sentiment. Wenger's here on sentiment, proof of why it gets you nowhere. You say Leicester don't have great players, while in some cases that is true, they do have quality to not be in a relegation battle - Musa is a champions league footballer, Slimani proved to be a top quality striker in Portugal, Mendy was tipped for big things after his transfer. Fact is if you are underperforming that much and tactics aren't working, then the manager is to blame, and it is in the interest of the club to make the necessary changes to support the club. This seems an unpopular opinion at the moment, but having a manager based on sentiment not results is asking for trouble. The club will always be grateful for the memories and I respect what he's done, but it clearly wasn't going to work out for him.

      Elite Target Man renieri did everything right tactically but he lost the dressing room to snakes and that's a fact the players weren't playing for him the same way Chelsea didn't play for mourinhio. The players are to blame for there performances look at that Leicester squad when the players he put his trust in stopped performing like Brady and mahrez there is literally nobody of quality to replace them and that's on the players not the tactics. firing renieri is just the easy thing to do.

      Hassan El Saygh no manager or player is bigger than the club, the club and its success has to come first. For years now Arsene Wenger has been considered bigger than arsenal fc, because they have kept him around based on sentimentality rather than the success of the club.

      Elite Target Man Man I disagree with the quality of the players. Musa is decent at best he wasn't that good at CSKA Moscow, Slimani played in a league that is far inferior to the EPL where there are good defenders and Mendy is injury prone. Nothing was ranieri's fault here, he has probably got Leicester to the quarter finals of the champions league for Christ's sake! Ranieri probably would have won them the champions league! Leicester will crash out of the champions league, get relegated and have to bring back ranieri who probably won't give a damn about joining back. he probably would get a job like juve or a team of that level, ranieri's on holiday sagging off Leicester and saying they deserve to be relegated, guess what? I agree, spencer does and most of the world do, who ever wanted him to go, go away and die. I'm not a Leicester fan, I support villa, this sort of thing got sherwood sacked! He nearly won villa the FA CUP! NO ONE CARES ABOUT THIS THING ANYMORE! THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT GETTING THE BEST PLAYERS, NOT WHAT THE MANAGERS DO FOR THE CLUB! NOW FOOTBALL IS RUINED. Ranieri will enjoy rubbing in what he has won in Leicesters faces at other clubs, everyone probably thinks he will not be heard of again like sherwood, but I know he will be snagged up by another club, probably in Italy, thank you for taking the time to read this comment.

    This situation is exactly like the Birmingham City sacking Rowett. Just like Ranieri, Rowett was extremely over achieving, making the most of the cheap, talented young players. And Birmingham were suffering massively with money because of our owner at the time, yet we were still somehow play-off contenders. Yet just because we had lost 2 or so games in a row, the board made a horrendous decision to sack him. The footballing world has gone mad!!! Please like if you agree!!

    I love Ranieri but part of his likability has blinded people. Leicester have been very poor this season and he has to take a large part of that responsibility along with the players, despite being a lovely guy the results weren't coming, everytime they took the field they looked more dejected and had less fight and ultimately he didn't look capable of changing that. It's a massive shame because what he did for the club was unbelievable but i think because of the amount he spent and because of the results he was getting it might prove to be the right decision. For me he didn't address a key issue during the summer transfer window and that was signing some quality defenders, yes fuchs, huth, morgan and simpson were incredible during 15/16 and their contribution shouldn't be understated but at the end of the day they are average players and that is a mid table backline at best, ranieri should have brought in some quality defensive additions, instead he brought in one relatively unknown spanish centre back in luis hernandez who left after only 6 months to go back to la liga. Ranieri concentrated too much on the attack and midfield which were the two areas he could have left alone if he wanted. The back four was also made to look great by kante who took a huge load off them with his interceptions, tackles and coverage off the areas in front of the defence, they tried to replace him with the likes of mendy, ndidi and amartey but unfortunately it didn't pay off and their form has inevitably tailed off because of that. Again, its a real shame he was sacked, his should have been a dynasty that lasted many years at leicester but he showed himself incapable of finding the form he found so easy to come by in his first season. Ultimately the leicester city board felt they had to save face because relegation simply isn't an option.

      SatiricalHaz - Home of Banter its funny to think how Leicester city were known as a team fighting for relegation, one season made the board and fans forget what their club was doing in the first place all them years, the board got too greedy for success, you cannot year on year compete with the big money spending teams, shame on the greedy board, its the norm and unsurprising to hear Leicester fighting to not relegated, Sacking the once in a life time title winning manager is not the way to go

    • @roccofantini6647

      SatiricalHaz - Home of Banter The funny thing is that most of the people who are mad about it are not Leicester fans and don't watch them week in week out, while those who are Leicester fans understand the decision.

      kasper schm there are some players that can't be changed wether Conte or Ranieri is at the helm. Players are responsible for their performances. Just look at players like Arhsavin, Adebayor, and many others who quit after they got what they wanted. Managers are a big part of the team, but it isn't his fault that a team does poorly.

No team expects to win the league twice in a row it's insane if that happens If any Leicester fans expected that they are delusional and so are the Leicester board. Sacking a manager after they do that. I'm an Arsenal fan and we've stayed with him through years of probable under performing and Leicester decide to sack Ranieri after one season of reality. Puel has not done a good job at Southampton with the players that he has, but at least he has brought quality players to the squad and developped some great young talents. Ranieri, on the other hand, is a dreadful manager who has got no managerial skills. Be careful what you wish for.
