- In this edition of the Walking DF, i walk at night through Barrio Barretto and show you some of the nightlife entertainment venues in Subic Bay along the way. I discuss my recent experiences in Barrio Barretto Subic Bay, Philippines including how to get there from Manila and Angeles City, prices of food and drinks, things to do in Subic Bay, Restaurants, Bars, Hotels and things to do.

I remember going to White Rock Beach in 1967. Barrio Barretto was a collection of rice patties and nipa huts..
The Prophet I went to white rock Beach in 1968. Only time i went. Spent most time in the bars and EM club and Grande Island.
You should have seen the Barrio back in 84-85. It was one lane partial dirt road too, and looked more like an old west town than it does now. Such a shame.

When I was there 1983-85 there were alot of bars in Barrio Barretto and Olongapo.
Still a few in olongapo...olongapo is the better tourist attraction nut angeles city the sister city is much more fun

OMG...so many memories of walking over "Shit River Bridge" into Olongapo...Eating "Monkey on a stick" (Was actually beef and chicken)...and drinking San Miguel beer....Always had a blast on Liberty there...It has changed a lot since the early 80's....back then it was crowded and busy and alive....Now...not so much.
I can definitely relate my friend, I was there also in the mid 80's (85-86). While station in Okinawa Japan (U.S.M.C.) my unit participated in a Joint Forces exercise in the Philippines. Upon completion of the exercise our ship docked at Subic Bay and we had 3 days of liberty...WHAT AN ABSOLUTE BLAST!!! I can also identify with you in regards to walking across "Shit River Bridge" to begin our AWESOME TIME with the Ladies! 😁
The Area was even better in 1972-74, really wild especially when a carrier task force pulled into town returning from the golf of tokin
The toughest/most time consuming part of the trip to their is driving in traffic through Manila. Once you get on the highway NLEX North and the other highways, it smooth sailing. About only two hours driving, once through Manila. My family and I usually just go to Camayan Beach Resort which is right next to Zoobic and swimming with the dolphins is within walking distance. If you stay at Camayan beach resort, make sure you get reservations in advance because they are usually completely booked especially during the summer. I'm not sure what it's like during the current rainy season. Been going there for the past 8 years and it's been getting better and better; bigger and bigger due to building expansion. Anyways, have fun.
It seams Subic Bay is Aussie more than Asian. Mainly westerners there cause the local airport is closed for commercial aircraft for years. I did the zoo and it wasn't bad. For a complete low key chill out Subic hits the mark.
It is the quiet time of the year - rainy season - and it is a Sunday! Most of the customers would be from the expat community, local and from Angeles & Manila (who would have gone home for work on Monday). A different story from October to May! Easter it is full.
I was there xmas and new year time 93 and it was a fun fun place.
I loved Barrio…My Other Place Bar was my hang out.

All thats changed now. The Office is now Whiskey Girl. Pussycats is closed. The porch on the Pub hotel is knocked down to make room for 2 lane road. Landlocked is closed down. The new fancy hotel is open. MailHub is closed. Wet spot moved. lolipop is closed. man cave is closed.

Good video. Not many up on Subic on The Socials. Lame that the U.S. closed the base in 1992 purely due to some placard-waving locals. Caused the economy to tank as you can see.

Beaches are definitely fine in that area however as it was mention in the first comment there are a lot of much nicer beaches across subic.

That shit is scary. Nearly had the same thing happen for me in Thailand. Rented a bike and went on a trip. Pulled into a dodgy gas-station for some fuel and was offered all sorts of drugs from the owner. I turned it down, but I saw another guy who bought some hashish. 3 minutes down the road from the gas-station there was a few cop cars and I got pulled in.
I obviously didnt have anything on me, but the guy who bought that hashish came and was pulled in too, just as I was about to drive on. I was well on my way but that poor fucker probably had to pay out of his ass to get off free. Fucking scamming cunts - a real setup :/

@@bachelorliving123 Except there is a law that says a foreigner can't be alone with a minor under 18. Some foreigner got arrested last year for holding hands with a 14 year old girl in a park, I think in Leyte if I remember right.

I was there win the Navy gave the base away in 1992. Also DF why don’t you answer my questions. They are harmless. Is the Midnight Rambler still at the end of Barriteo And the White Rock Resort on the water side. The Rambler was the place I met the Aussi Miners.

Wanderer I know I was there moving a Container Crane from the base. It belonged to American President lines and Sea land. They did not want to leave it.
So we moved it to Guam set it up there.

Its rainy season. All tourists are inside rooms. Not a good idea to make video in this time and its stupid travelling also. So, from sept to june Subic is a right place for all tourists , who ,ve tired from white sands of Boracay or Palawan. Nightlife Barreto on my opinion is better than in Angeles or Manila. Cheap and cute girls are everywhere, they are fresh and not so professional such as in capital. Hotels are clean and comfortable , but if you would like to stay more than 1 week , better to rent rooms on Baloy beach (around 20000 pesos per month)
Visited Subic Bay twice in 1979 deployed on WestPac Cruise aboard USS Brewton FF-1086, homeport Pearl Harbor. Was medvac'd from Columbo, Sri Lanka to Clark Air Force Base Hospital at Angeles City a few months later when my appendix blew at sea. I would like to see this country again, for sure! The people were wonderful...

My Weapons Division officer was an Academy prick. I might have stayed in if it had not been for him. I regret that decision now...

Sitting Bull Restaurant is by far the best place to eat friendly girls there also, the place is ok for awhile laid back vibes. The better beaches are around Pundukit worth a bus trip and there are boats to great secluded beaches!
Barrio Barretto has changed A LOT since the late 70s. Back then it was just a few bars on the beach between Olongapo and Subic. Beautiful area.
Subic is a good change from angeles. So cheap to get to and I quite enjoy it.
Dead quiet just as Thailand is right now...I've just come from Hua Hin and now I'm in Phuket and it's quiet literally everywhere
