great video, a couple of tips,1) DONT connect hydraulic lines while the engine is running, if the control gets nudged, full pressure is at the fitting, WHILE the plug in the hose is opening the leak proof valve, and you CANT see a high pressure leak, like steam in a pipe, it can cut you or cause blood poisoning!! 2) don't haul a log by your muscles alone, look at OHS videos for loggers, they use a log turner, a pole with a barb on the end, looks like a c-spanner wrench, it adds 4 or 5 ft of leverage, and keeps you clear if the log starts rolling out of control, OR use an engine hoist, or block and tackle, it saves back and leg muscle injuries.
You wouldn’t make it on a farm or in any construction trade 😂 risk mitigation is fine and always improving. Risk Elimination would put us back in the Stone Age

Every actual man's dream gal. Even though I'm single at 52 it does my heart good to know some lucky guy gets to have such an amazing woman in his life. Gives me hope lol
I was an interior trim carpenter. Back in the days when mitre saw blades were so expensive it was cheaper to have them sharpened than replace them, I found that spraying the blades with oven cleaner would clean the resin off and make them cut like a new blade - which I could do a couple times before needing to resharpen.
yes but earning thousands by putting her in hot pants on you tube doing it is another story. You really think people click on this to see somebody cut wood?
This woman is a "Unicorn" not only is she hands on and physical but extremely attractive as well with a fun personality. I would love to spend a day with her working on projects
I’m fascinated by the fact she has a million views on this video with only 57k subscribers. Clearly she is very interesting, skilled and intelligent. As you said, attractive. And people watched like crazy. But didn’t subscribe…. I certainly did! 😊👍👍
I run a Timber King 2200 and I find that laundry soap has the best performance as an additive for the lubricant water. Super concentrated and has a nice snotty consistency that keeps the pitch off the bands. Beautiful wood BTW
For any sap that sticks to the blade - oven cleaner. Don't let it dry out and heat speeds the cleaning process. I've heard a Lye / water and soak (hot water) also but haven't used it yet. - Joe -
First time watcher and I must say your channel has almost all the content I was looking for... You sure know your way around a chunk of wood. And no I'm pretty sure nobody is going to get tired of that outfit. Keep up the good work!! 👍
My nephew is only one I know that actually started and finished a log home with blue pine from property. He bought a sawmill and a friend of the family did most of the work. Also a second story with loft overlooking downstairs. With tongue and groove ceiling and upper part of wall. I did finishing in bathrooms and upper bedrooms and paint and sealed all the wood. Anyway with proper maintenance it will be there 100 yrs from now.
Careful moving those logs, when you injure your back, it won't ever be the same, might not hurt everyday, but it always comes back, speaking from experience, good luck with the sawmill and cabin building 😉
For lubricant we used straight diesel fuel at our mill cutting heartpine beams down for flooring and it worked awesome it's surprising cause the sparks you'd think would ignite the fuel but never done not one time when I worked there nor before or after and all u need is a drip rate applied and it worked wonders never had an issue with sap build up on our blades ever
Diesel is pretty bad at self-igniting (it requires to be at least 50°C and often more). Friction can heat up the mix close to that temp but it obviously depends on how warm ambient temperature is. I wouldn't recommend sawing above 35°C ambient temp.
A barrel of biodiesel can be made easily enough. It’s non flammable and won’t smell like Dino diesel. It’s a better lubricant and can even be used to seal wood surfaces

Yes, i can clearly see why it's so hot at MichyMilling Inc... If i didn't know it better i'd say the temperature is rising here too... 😉 The milling was quite nice. The lubrication sounds fine. If the tension of the blade is good you could consider to saw slower as the blade seems to dive while you're pushing the saw. the Larch doesn't make it easier... Looking forward to more milling 😁 Good to see Lenny's getting some weight. Freedoms are to be learned... and a quick recovery to Clyde
Larch is really strong for its weight. It also has some anti-rotting properties. I have a little of it on my property and have milled it before. My other softwood is old Eastern White Pine.
Yes--- Larch or Tamarack trees were used early on as sill plates and joists for their seemingly moisture resistant quaility if they were plentiful-- Oak and pine log cabins rotted pretty quickly on the ground...
Sappy woods like Douglas Fir are resistant to worms and rot. Methyl ester (biodiesel) is technically non flammable. It’s also a great lubricant and seals bare timber. Should be great for gummy logs.

Hey there, if the logs you’re milling have been down for long enough for them to dry out, it won’t help with build up on the saw. I was amazed to finally there was a log and machinery there. I Didn't notice anything for quite a while except those amazing shorts. Outstanding job though.
You've got a great work ethic, love it. You have to be careful with your guide bearings, never use a grease cutter like simple green, pine sol is better or setup a kerosene drip for those extra pitchy logs. Kerosene is the best hands down if you're gumming up. When we mill sinker pine or heart pine it's our go to, straight water for everything else.
Mike Morgan of Outdoors with the Morgans took a recommendation from, I think, Nathan from Out of the Woods to use diesel in the lube tank on the pitchy pine he had on the mill. His original tank was dish soap plus Pinesol. He runs diesel at the lowest setting.
You and Steve have got such good hearts Michelle, and it will be heart warming to watch as Lenny realizes more and more the love that some humans have to give, and his transformation! Wait what...all you already do(cinna-buns), and a foot rub...that was one special lottery ticket the day that Steve met you. I know Irish Spring is manly yes, but, "I bet you like it too"!lol < in my best Irish brogue We've had our share of 35c+ days with high humidity this Summer here in KY, but won't be much longer before things start cooling down some. I had the surgical wonder of having my right bicep distal tendon repaired recently on Aug 4th, and thanked all your nursing sisters many times, when I wasn't loopy, that helped me through it. Could use some of them now to help, as I routinely ice this swollen and bruised blob I once called an arm, and looking forward to a time in the future when it starts feeling closer to normal again. You, Steve and all your furry children stay safe!

Hi Michelle! I´ts really nice to watch your milling skills! Way much better than most of the selfmade "experts" ;-D. I got the feeling that you are genuine and like to explore life itself! Yours Michael!
Am I the only one here for the sawmill? When you have many logs to mill but, in no rush for the lumber, mill the slabs, set the cants aside, then change blades. Keep the blade just for remove the bark slabs. Better yet add a debarker blade (what we all long for, lol).
Cotton picker spindle cleaner also works as well in the tank for the build up. Sometimes I get a lot of buildup from sawing pine . Really bad lives. I put about a double shot glass in 5 gallons of water.
This may be freaky but i did the same thing with some smaller stain glass windows at a friendès house that i was renovating . I routed a grove around the frame for the glass insert .Still holding after 20 yrs as far as i know. PS you better get a licence for wearing those shorts
@@michygoss7148 Be nice! You have nothing to be ashamed of, but I do understand what you are saying. Wait a day or two and see how many thumbs up my comment gets. Enough said....lol

I'm new to your site (with very little experience in milling). It took me all of 10 minutes to subscribe (and I don't commit very often). You have such a great energy, and your flexibility makes me jealous (in a motivating sort of way). Thank you for sharing your gifts, Michelle! I can't wait to see your cabin!
9:28 I just ended a 20-year career as a saw filer in a sawmill. We called the effect in your wood "Washboarding." This happens just before the saw blade starts to "snake" through the lumber. Blades gumming up can be a real problem. Years ago, we used kerosene as a lubricant on one of our blades, but it stunk and was a constant fire hazard.
I don't know much about saw mills other than to hear my uncle talk about it back in the day. Basically, something needs to clean the resin off the blade, and it just so happens that most stuff that can do that tends to be flameable.
@@Snarksneeze That's pretty much it. There is a fairly new product in the industry now that is basically a vegetable oil type product. We know it as Lubie. The smell is not bad at all, and it is one of the least flammable products for saw lube. But I wouldn't foresee buying it for a portable sawmill.
I mark the end of my log or kant with a sharpie or crayon to remind me of what I want to end up with. I’ve done the same thing getting excited as I’m milling and then the darned thing is under what I need to get what I wanted to end up with. This woman is my version of a 10. Gorgeous and talented and everything in between. 😍
And strong, don't forget strong........
Now that's a messy bun. Cool vid. Glad I'm not the only one that works out while working lol.
Michelle, "a thousand kisses a day!" In my next life I'm gonna come back as a dog and be named "Clyde"! Great video just watching you do what you do with at the saw mill. I can see the cabin coming together piece by piece. Looking forward to seeing future episodes regarding that build. Lenny is looking very good. Thanks for Sharing!
Michy , good work young lady , you are vary useful with the tool's . The ability to learn the skills of a trade and manipulate the wood around like a real pro and learning all about the machinery. You are eye candy to watch may I say , vary cute. Good luck with your project. Keep the update's coming.
Definitely a good idea! Might just take a bit too much planning for me!
Cotton picker spindle cleaner also works as well in the tank for the build up. Sometimes I get a lot of buildup from sawing pine . Really bad lives. I put about a double shot glass in 5 gallons of water.
So happy Lenny is doing well! He looks happy to be there.
This may be freaky but i did the same thing with some smaller stain glass windows at a friendès house that i was renovating . I routed a grove around the frame for the glass insert .Still holding after 20 yrs as far as i know.
PS you better get a licence for wearing those shorts
I looked hard trying to find a reason why anyone wouldn't like your outfit. The closer I looked the better I liked it. Maybe it's just a guy thing.
The longer I had to look at myself while editing, the more I was sick of seeing certain things. Lol.
@@michygoss7148 Be nice! You have nothing to be ashamed of, but I do understand what you are saying. Wait a day or two and see how many thumbs up my comment gets. Enough said....lol
Her legs are nice in the thumbnail
Looks great to me!
One of the good things about the adult age: nobody has a right to tell you what you should be wearing (OK in your free time 😊) - just do whatever feels right. If anyone doesn't like it? Their problem!
Consider adding Simple Green to your water. It is what we use here in California on redwood and Douglas-for. Walnut sometimes too.
How satisfying to mill your own lumber to use on your builds, etc. Good stuff.
New to your channel, I have never enjoyed watching someone saw up lumber as this. Thanks!
Lovely!! Do you have a sawmill too? Or planning on getting one?
.....I have never seen anyone turning changing the oil into a work out.......love it!
Very cool video. Absolutely love seeing this process and how it works. What got you started milling? Always wanted to try this!
10 acres of land with a ton of trees, and a desire to build things without paying a ton of money on lumber!
Try used chip oil. Works but you will feel hungry
Yes Eric, we used to use kerosene as well, worked well actually
I mark the end of my log or kant with a sharpie or crayon to remind me of what I want to end up with. I’ve done the same thing getting excited as I’m milling and then the darned thing is under what I need to get what I wanted to end up with.
I bought the Woodlander HM 130 max. 32” x 16’ portable and enjoy every time I fire it up.
I envy you having a bob cat to help you. That’s on my wish list.😎
Pre-fill those filters. It’ll keep the engine from running temporarily dry.
You do good work. Most people wouldn't attempt milling solo.
Great job Michelle. Body, mind, and soul work daily is a necessity. There is always something (project’s) to do.
Aren't you an awesome lady. Very interesting work you do.
Why? Why? Why? Are all the chainsaw women where I live look like me?
These are RUclipsrs not real wood workers
Love the doggies! Love you sunshine! Thanks for taking us along!

OMG, I LOVE that outfit. And by saying that I obviously in no way mean to distract from the awesome skills of what appears to be a really great person here, which I totally appreciate. But ... oh! my! gosh! 😍
❤Happy New Years Beautiful ❤ Be waiting for your videos this year. Hi from Deep South Texas 🎉❤
I've been on the fence about what kind of mill i want. Definitely going to be Woodland Mills as long as i can get Michelle to come show me how to set it up ❤
The joys and frustrations of a band mill. You are a trooper for persevering!
Your place is amazing. It must be so relaxing being out thier working.
Holy shit, that’s the first T180 I’ve ever seen. I’ve got one myself but here in Oz they are as rare as hen’s teeth. My next door nabour also has exactly the same mill which I used to mill all my coastal cypress. Go girl 👍
I love that you love the doggos so much! 🥰
YOU STILL LOOK AMAZING. A HARD WORKER. DOING A GR8T JOB. THE BARK IS GOOD FOR FIRE STARTING.
Wow! Glad you saw my comment! Small world. I am doing yacht carpentry these days (just in case you want to get into fine woodworking by the coast!😊)
Exquisite workmanship. Beautiful as well. Thank you for sharing.

You and your man are solid. Really like you both.
A quite soothing and satisfying presentation.
Thank you.
Love a bobcat skid steer. They make a attachment for everything! 😂

Currently Working on an off grid project in Ontario

You seem like a solid human
Good for u and your family!

Life ain’t fair! Ive been alive for 60 years and I’ve never gotten to know a girl like you!
that small leave blower , is realy handy , to clean your machinery , wether its a lawn mower , sawmill , or filter stuff
Your camera angles are exquisite. Thanks.
Nothing wrong with what you are wearing, and you handle that log just fine. Kinda interesting hobby or business for a young woman. Fun to watch thanks
Lol, on the glasses!!! I have the same ones from dollar Tree. I work in law enforcement, and stop in at a local dollar Tree to hang out with the employees. And bought that same pair bc I don't like the look of standard "cop" frames. Haha. They're on point.
There’s no way You have 6 children?!! God bless you. I come from a family of 6 kids, never a dull moment. I wouldn’t trade the experience of having my brothers and sisters for anything.
My mother looked nothing like you after having 6 kids. Cool.
Always thought tamarack was most desirable for firewood? And no, i’m not tired of the outfit. Prettiest Sawyer I’ve ever seen 😌
