    Sustainable food production on unproductive land without using fossil fuel and not harmful to the environment and also with minimal chemical poisons. A big step forward in a world with a a changing climate. This environment in Port Augusta is already climate challenged. Australia has a huge potential for further safe agriculture. Today it's a variety of tomatoes, in the future other fruits and vegetables.

    It gives me WOW feeling at the 1st stage and indeed till ends. I am also a CSP engineer and always wanted to do sustainable agriculture development in food hungry country like India.So Sundrop farm is like dream come true for me.I would like to invite Sundrop Farm team to come to India and share their knowledge in developing a pilot project here in Indian desert.

    You had me until you didn't deal with the waste brine... dumping that back in the ocean is not good. You need to be able to capture the salts. Talk to the team at the sahara forest project for tips.

    • @123machet
      @123machet 7 лет назад

      What's the issue? It's not a huge amount of brine given 1 million litres per day but they could sell it in the future as sea salt.

    • @hashamosh
      @hashamosh 6 лет назад

      Salt has commercial value in of itself, but I can understand why they wouldn't, the difficulty of the logistics of it on this scale wouldn't be worth it

    • @stanvincent7106
      @stanvincent7106 6 лет назад

      The sun does the same sea water is concentrated then diluted by clouds then rain.the waste in this case only needs to be spread into the ocean.it is 8ndeed a drop in the ocean

    • @tedmafarm

      I think this helps pollination.

    • @plokiu08
      @plokiu08 7 лет назад

      It is related to the pollination of the flowers. Hitting the crop support wires makes the entire plant shaken and this helps the flowers release their pollen. Normally it is used the bumble bees, but I think due to the high temperatures, this ones are not so reliable.

      Unfortunately, the variety grown is that which travels well, stores well and appears regular and therefore appeals to the public conception of what a Tomato should look like. This is Driven by the Market supplier in this case "Coles". So there is a compromise to Flavour in that these are somewhat bland and thickskinned. Grow your own and experience the difference!!!

    So what happens to the toxic waste from the desalination process?
    And what happens to the used and discarded grow wool slabs that are chock full of toxic salts from the hydroponic solution?
    What happens to the runoff/exhausted solution from the watering process that's effectively salts tainted water?
    All this for some tomatoes?
    But yea the solar collector system is kinda cool, nice work coles.
    Make us pay for a plastic carry bags under the guise of better for the environment even though we are still using plastic bags anyway at the very same time that you decide to ramp up plastic use by wrapping almost everything in the store in a plastic tray with plastic wrapping.
    Open your eyes people these people are nothing but hypocrites and profiteers pumping the give you less charge you more for the investors.
