- I did some homework on how to make authentic cheesesteak sandwiches on the Blackstone flat top Griddle and I have been wanting to do this for many, many months! If fact, this is my FAVORITE Blackstone Griddle Recipe and these cheesesteaks turned out ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! I should NOT have waited so long to do this! I have made a LOT of great things on the Blackstone Griddle but this was THE BEST YET! If you've never done this, you need to ASAP! Let me give you all the details on this video…

Ingredients Needed:
- Thinly sliced beef/steak. I used sirloin but you can use ribeye or other cuts as long as they're thinly sliced. Some folks suggest having the meat partially frozen but I didn't and it turned out fantastic! I used 3 Lbs. for this cook.
- GOOD BREAD/ROLLS. This sandwich is meant to be paired with GOOD BREAD! Don't ruin it by going cheap here!
- Thinly sliced onion. I used two large onions for this recipe. Adjust based on how much you're making.
- Provolone cheese. I used a brand we have used before and liked. Use your favorite brand.
- Garlic Salt and Black Pepper
Directions:
- WASH YOUR HANDS!
- Be sure your steak is sliced thin enough! I called my order in to my local butcher and ask what he recommended. We came to an agreement and he prepped it for me to pickup. Some people use sirloin, some ribeye, etc.. The key here is that it be thinly sliced, tender and FRESH!
- I started my Blackstone Griddle and preheated to medium-high. Once its ready, put some oil down and spread it around the area where you're going to cook your onions (yes, I cooked the onions FIRST because they take longer to caramelize than the steak takes to cook!)
- Drop the onions onto the griddle top (ENJOY THAT SIZZLE!) SEASON WITH GARLIC SALT AND BLACK PEPPER and move work them around gently until they are almost done to your liking.
- Place your far right burner on low and move the onions onto that side.
- Apply more oil to the griddle top and lay down your steak. Move steak frequently, season with garlic salt/black pepper and cook to your liking.
- Once the onions and steak are both ready, take a desired amount of both and mix them together on the griddle top (see video). Place your cheese on top and melt it down.
- Once the cheese is melted, open your bun and place it over the melted cheese, steak, onions and gently use your griddle spatula to slide underneath and scoop into the roll (SEE VIDEO).
- ENJOY THIS AWESOME SAMMICH!!!!!

I recently got a 36" griddle and I love it. Whilst searching for "griddle videos", I found your channel and I'm locked in.
I, too, appreciate your humble attitude and the step-by-step instructions. You bring it down to a level we can all understand.
B T W, very nice camera work.
Thank you very much for the kind words and support, Jack!
well done, sir.....As a life long philly area resident, I applaud you. Some people say you need to do it this way or that way....the real answer is whatever way makes you happy. Out of all the things that I cook on my own blackstone, cheesesteaks are the most fun, and what seems to turn out the best. Keep up the awesome work, and I really enjoy your channel.
Wow thanks, Joshua! Means a lot to me man! Cheers 🍻

Nice job! This was a great video to watch. The challenge with Philly Cheesesteak is there is no actual definitive way to make. Every version is someone's take on it. And God Bless everyone who wants to create their version! The one thing I love about your videos is your modest and humble approach. I spent a lot of years in Chicago and you represent everything good about the people from the Windy CIty. Thanks for an interesting video.
Thank you so much for the kind words, Delaney. Means the words to me. I’m just out here trying to be me and only me. It’s fun and it’s my passion to cook. Cheers 🍻

WOW! We just bought a 28" Blackstone. Seasoned it up today. I think this and the Windy city stir fry will be the first on the menu. I may try with just onions, but I can see green peppers and mushrooms as well . Cheese steak crowd may poo poo it, but I say Grill what you like!!
I agree 💯 %, Dennis! Make it the way you like it! Thanks for watching and supporting!

You cook the way u want to not the way ppls want u 2,I Luv it!Keep it coming,I'm a cook myself...... It smells awesome!!!
Thanks, Arthur! Cheesesteaks are a very touchy recipe and I wanted to try to keep it as close to traditional as possible. I think I really I nailed it here although I’m sure it wasn’t perfect in everyone’s eyes. Very soon I will be redoing this and adding my peppers and mushrooms to the mix. Thank you sincerely for watching and commenting!
Shoutout from Philly! First off congrats on the World Series win (never too late for one of those). Secondly, although not the bread I'd use, I appreciate you using quality meat and NOT chopping it to bits. In Philly where I'm from, we don't chop. Kudos on the provolone and the shoutout. Love the channel and am definitely considering trading up from my BBQ grill.
Thanks, Greg! I sincerely appreciate you watching and commenting! Cheers 🍻
Great cheesesteak sandwich! Mouthwatering 😋👍
The Tortilla Channel Thanks! Appreciate you checking it out!
That looked awesome. Just discovered you today, what a great first video to be introduced to your channel! And....can't wait for my next Philly cheesesteak :)
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I sincerely appreciate it, Texas!
Great job brother! Looks awesome!
Thanks very much 🙏
Toast bread on the grill would be great. Nothing else to say other than enjoy that cheese steak sandwich. Looks amazing!
Thanks, Brad! For the most part I have gotten very positive feedback from this video. I feel good about that knowing that I must’ve done a fairly good job. Mostly, any criticism or suggestions I have gotten have been constructive just like yours. I got this pretty close but after reading through some comments I do see some valid things I can change to bring it a little closer to authentic next time around. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Cheers!
regardless on how you did this, your humbleness and respect you pay to the cheesesteak was a nice touch. it shows your openness and willingness to learn and improve.
Thanks for watching and commenting, J.
Nice job brother Mike, that'll was a kickass vid..cheese steaks looked amazing...very well done brother....
Cris Workizer Thanks so much man!! I’m grateful for the nice comment and for you taking the time to watch!

Great job, they came out outstanding. Looks delicious.
Thanks, Mike! Still the best thing I’ve made on my Griddle. Cheers 🍻

Excellent video Mike. Very tasting looking!!!
Thanks buddy!! I appreciate you checking it out and commenting!
Me and my daughter loves those. I've made them several times. In Philly there are two restaurants across the street from each other...Pat's and Geno's. One swears by cheese wiz and the other provolone. Funny! Your's looked great.
Can't wait to cook this tonight!
Enjoy, Robert! It’s a winner!
I appreciate the effort great video. I am from Philadelphia and I make cheese steaks every day on my hot dog cart. I have a 36 inch griddle. Your cheese steak was not bad it's not the way I make mine at all but it was a good demonstration.
Thanks, David! I sincerely appreciate you watching and commenting!
I agree I make these all the time. Put the roll on the grill. Also try white cheddar cheese too...yum!
Thank you very much for watching!
Love cheese steaks on the Blackstone. I have 36" and 17" for mobility purposes. They are great griddles. New sub here, keep the great content coming!
Thanks for watching and commenting! I sincerely appreciate it!
Love that logo, David did a great job. Your Cheesesteak looked delicious to me. The ones that complain about foods not being authentic, only eat it when someone else cooks it, from a restaurant. They're clueless how to make it themselves. Thanks for sharing😃
Thanks, Christy! I appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
mmmmm cheese steak!! good cooking and good recipe!!! keep up the good videos!!! every day BBQ rocks!!!
Thanks very much for watching and commenting, Glenn! I sincerely appreciate it 🙏
alright bro!! it is ordered. I don't know if you get any kick back, but I used your link to order!! 36 inch..CANT WAIT!!
Thanks, James! Most of my links are affiliate links so yes I sincerely appreciate that brother. My channel is dedicated to my kids future so all funds above and beyond what I reinvest go to their savings. Thanks so much for all the support 🙏🙏
Great video! I just subscribed today. I am considering getting the Blackstone griddle but worried that it won’t last where I live. I’m in NY near the ocean so worried about it rusting. I like your set up. Can you tell me if you are grilling in an enclosed area? Thank you again for your very informative videos.
Thank you for watching! I have it in a screened porch. If you get a hard cover and keep it clean/seasoned, you should be fine. Lots of folks have them in cold weather. There’s a few Blackstone Griddle groups on Facebook where people post photos in all types of weather lol. 🙏
These cheesesteaks looks so incredible ! I always think of mushrooms abs green pepper goes with cheesesteak too :)
Me too.. next time I will. This time I’m trying not to get shelled from “experts” lol.
Mel's Simple Meals Right Mel... But this was 1 Meaty Philly Cheese Steak "OMG"... I Couldn't take My eyes away from my phone😂
Yeah needs those peppers...but good
The cheesesteaks definitely cause a severe case of drooling and everything really does look so delicious! Lucky 🍀 You to be gifted with that “Ass-Kickin’” metal logo! It’s quite wonderful (kudos to the artist) and it will seriously add a level of prestige and classiness to all your videos’ background!s How very blessed you are to have such a generous fan, who’s so talented!!!
A fellow RUclipsr named David over at Kajun Kravings made that for me. I love it!
Just watched this for the first time. Thought I did before. Now I know I need to get one of those Blackstones
Thanks, William! This is still my favorite cook on the Blackstone so far. Gotta make these again 😋

At 12:12am April 13 Sunday morning ! I’m up watching your video ! Trying to survive lol my three day fasting up at 2am I can’t want to go make some eggs & potatoes ! Shrimp asparagus oh Jesus !
I need to buy one of these things
Thanks very much for watching and commenting 🙏. I love the griddle, it really makes cooking fun.
Wow! Looks amazing!
Thanks 🙏
Well sir, that made my mouth water and made my mind up. I gotta do this. Fun to cook and fun to eat! I've been wanting to do the griddle thing for awhile but, I felt like it was just another gimmicky way to cook. Maybe you don't know what I mean but, there a so many ways to cook and so many different devices to cook on. I honestly wonder if I will use my gas grill after I buy a griddle. Having said that, after watching your cooking videos and sitting here with my stomach growling and mouth watering, I guess I'm gonna take the plunge and buy a griddle. Thanks and keep making those terrific videos!
Lol thanks, Robert! The Blackstone is definitely legit! I’ve got an Amazon affiliate link for it in the description BUT I hear you can get screamin deals on them at Walmart sometimes. You may wanna check there first. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers 🍻
All facts! Great job! 👍
Great cook brother! Keep em coming!
Eric Ousley Jr thanks, Eric! I sincerely appreciate it!

Put the onions in a container with a lid and salt them the day before to weep moisture out then strain off liquid . It's how the old school diners did it . Gooooood !

Hi Mike, just set up and seasoned my blackstone 36 and for the initial meal I was hoping to make chicken phillys, your channel is awesome and has good detail, just wanted to ask, if I want CHICKEN PHILLYS can I just follow your instructions here or do I need to change something up because it’s chicken vs steak?
Thank you!
I’d stick with this but if it were me! They should be great! Thanks for the nice comments, Omar!

I know my garlic salt lol 😂
Nice cook man, those cheesesteaks looked killer. I like to add a little cheese whiz too. Nice job!
Thanks for watching buddy! I sincerely appreciate it!
Cheesesteaks and snow ! Great combo.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
What town are you located in? I'm fromm Aurora but now live in DeKalb. I will be starting my cooking channel shortly.
Nice, I love Philly cheese steaks... Oh and the view looks awesome... Cooking in front of a yard covered in snow, doesn't get any better then that...
Thanks for watching and commenting!! I sincerely appreciate your time and kindness!
Looked good. Couple of hints. Used chopped onions, and put the roll on the steak right after you put the cheese on and it will melt. As for the mushrooms and peppers, feel free to jazz it up with what you like. You're just adding to the cheese steak as long as you follow the basics. PS and I love that you worry about what us Philly nuts may say about you making the cheese steak properly.
I do my best lol 😂. Thank you very much for watching and commenting 🙏
Looks amazing great job. Way to represent the chi town area.
Thanks again, Dan! Cheers 🍻
He really hooked you up with the EveryBBQ emblem

Damn, Chicago and winter too! Haven't used my Blackstone in the winter yet, thought it would have been too cold to. Now I'm going to have to give it a try. Have you noticed any issues cooking on the griddle in the winter?
Also, great looking sandwich. Now I'm gonna have to give that a try!
Haven’t had any issues with the cold weather. The griddle top gets nice and hot and helps keep me warm lol. This one is still one of my favorites. Delicious sandwich.
