The idea is that one's piety and devotion can be so perfect, they are essentially adopted as a child of God.
Even the Jews used the phrase in this context. David, Solomon, Enoch, & many others were called Sons of God in this context. Jesus also used it in this way, which is why he reminds the Pharisees of what their scripture says.

That’s why some Jews (Teimanim) refuse to utter the name Ezra or to even name their children as such because they think it’s a divine name similar to how Orthodox Jews do not utter the exalted name of God (The Tetragrammaton: YHWH). This is not new. Plus, Jews have had others in their past who erred by deifying leaders they admired, including the Shabse Tzvi (who was a Kabbalist from Turkey). There is a concept of "Lesser Yahwe" or "Metatron" which Jews consider Divine in Greko-Roman sense. Quran is reffering to that. Metatron forms one of the traces for the presence of dualist proclivities in the otherwise monotheistic visions of both the Tanakh and later Christian doctrine.
    From wiki:
From Hellenistic times, mention of a second divine figure, either beside YHWH or beneath him, occur in a number of Jewish texts, mostly apocryphal. These Jewish traditions implying a divine dualism were most frequently associated with Enoch. In the rabbinic period they centre on 'Metatron', often in the context of debates over the heretical doctrine of 'two powers in heaven' (shtei rashunot ba-shammayim).[6][2] Ultimately these ideas appear to go back to differing interpretations of the heavenly enthronement passages at Exodus 24:10f., Daniel 7:9f. and perhaps even Ezekiel 1:26f.[7] interpretations that came to distinguish what was orthodox from what was heretical in Judaism.

The Quran never specifies a part of a group, like if I was to do something which is wrong and my family or may nappers never stops me Allah will condom all the people around me. similarly Allah is condoming all the jews who didn't stop him, also they wears some Christians that did not believe that Jesus was son of god but god also adds them in this verse with the other childrens.
The Quran says also there is people that worship Jesus and marry bisite God but we all know a lot of Christians don't worship marry and will also claim that they worship God the father. The fact that some Christians worship either the father or the son or marry Allah adds them all together. A lot of people claim this verse is talking about trinity, it is not it is talking about people who worship Jesus and marry bisite God. When the Quran mentioned the trinity it says do not say god is the third in three because it refutes the Christians and who ever is going to say god is "one in three or god is the third in three" by mentioning another two it refutes them also

The same is similar for the word “You” it does not always imply a single object. For example, TWO children walk into class late, the professor says “why are YOU late?” when addressing THEM ALTOGETHER.

“upon hearing THEIR response”, (despite ONLY ONE child speaking) the professor says, “YOU sit here and YOU sit there, don’t ever be late to my lessons again!” …in this second usage the “you” is specific to the individuals.

    Good explanation from the Rabbi!
A point of clarification: Ezra ("Uzair") is not considered a prophet in the Quran or the canonical sources. Some Muslim scholars probably did express the opinion that he was, but the evidence is far too ambiguous to attribute this view to Islamic tradition as a whole. He is certainly not called a prophet in the Quran, or in any of the canonical traditions accepted as sound (such as those in Bukhari or Muslim).
Nor does the Islamic tradition give any clear grounds for denying that Ezra was a prophet; the issue is left open, as with many other figures.

Or of him who, when passing by a town the rooftop which had caved in, exclaimed, 'how will God restore it to life after its destruction?' Thereupon God caused him to die, and after a hundred years, brought him back to life. God asked, ' How long have you remained in this state?' He answered, ' I have remained a day or part of a day. ' God said, ' No, you have remained in this state for a hundred years. Now look at your food and your drink; they have not rotted. Look at your ass. We will make you a sign to mankind. Look at the bones _ how We set them together, then clothe them with flesh!' When it had all become clear to him, he said, ' Now I know that God has power over all things. ' So Ezra was passing by Jerusalem riding his donkey carrying little food and the rest of the story as mentioned in the Noble Quran above.

Hence why I admire your honesty. Bless you and May God almighty guide you and guide all your followers to the truth. Amen. I think that jew or jews who believed so saw the miracle of Prophet Ezra Peace and blessing upon him and assumed he had to be the son of the Almighty since he was given everything he needed to re-establish temple worship in Jerusalem, including sacrifices of atonement. The covenant community would resume covenant worship of their covenant God in the covenant city.. but we all know that the moment you compare Almighty God to any of his creation, you have then committed a huge and grave sin

I may dare say that rabies think of Ezra as the second most important prophet after Mousa (pace apon him).
He took several texts and put them in one book.
Laws where changed or modified to his understanding, as a result the laws are not the same that God intended to the Jews.
Changing laws is only for Allah , when you change a single thing you are taking Allah's role and in that scene you worship who changed the text or laws.

A recent commentator suggested that Uzayr is actually Osiris and not Ezra the Prophet/Scribe. And the Jews when they were in Egypt took Osiris the same position as the Christians took Jesus Christ. Another commentator says that Uzayr is translated also as the Messiah, but the Jewish Messiah is David.
    So the three candidates are:
    1) Ezra/Esdras the Prophet/Scribe (there were a minority of Jews worshipping him at the time of the Prophet, as narrated by Ibn Abbas)
    2) Osiris the Egyptian God of Fertility (related to Hathor, the Golden Calf, Sirius etc.)
    3) David the Prophet/King (needs evidence)
And other candidates too such as Azariah.
These are only opinions, whoever Uzayr really is doesn't matter. What matters is that *there were some (minority of) Jews who took Uzayr (whoever he may be) as the Son of God,* which is condemned in Islam and in Orthodox Judaism.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Yes, and added: Do you feel any trouble in seeing the sun at noon with no cloud over it, and do you feel trouble in seeing the moon (open) in the full moonlit night with no cloud over it? They said: No, Messenger of Allah! He (the Holy Prophet) said: You will not feel any trouble in seeing Allah on the Day of Resurrection any more than you do in seeing any one of them. When the Day of Resurrection comes a Mu'adhdhin (a proclaimer) would proclaim: Let every people follow what they used to worship. Then all who worshipped idols and stones besides Allah would fall into the Fire, till only the righteous and the vicious and some of the people of the Book who worshipped Allah are left. Then the Jews would be summoned, and it would be said to them: What did you worship? They will say: We worshipped 'Uzair, son of Allah. It would be said to them: You tell a lie; Allah had never had a spouse or a son. What do you want now? They would say: We feel thirsty, O our Lord! Quench our thirst. They would be directed (to a certain direction) and asked: Why don't you go there to drink water? Then they would be pushed towards the Fire (and they would find to their great dismay that) it was but a mirage (and the raging flames of fire) would be consuming one another, and they would fall into the Fire.

translation of the verse is wrong . the translation of the words is like that ( The jews said Uzair is son of god & the supporters said the Mesaiah is son of god that is a saying from their mouths similar to those unblievers before them ).
what I understand from the verse as an arab that some of the jews said that (in the past) whether still saying that or not this is not mentioned .some say the verse say the jews , if I say The jews worshipped the golden calf is this meaning all jews in that time or nowadays still worshipping a golden calf.
for the supporters refferring to christians as the word christian never mentioned in the Quraan at all , they said the mesaiah is son of god and as we know they said that and still saying that.
this is not mentioned to compare between Jesus(Essa) and Uzair , just to state where these sayings originated .
Unblievers (Pagans) said like that in the ancient Egypt and ancient Greek claiming gods having sons like Amun son of Ra , Hecules son of Zeus.

That seems very weak and cowardice. The Quran contains heaps of biblical stories retold completely differently and he never criticizes it. Yet if one word in the Gospels is slightly different compared to the Tanakh, he loses his mind.

Like how it was answered and addressed but a misinformation slipped through, no Muslim would ever consider himself to be a child of God not even in the Jewish comprehension and use of this expression. The Quran actually rebuked both Jews and Christians for using and believing that in chapter 5 verse 18.
Another mistake that a well versed person like the rabbi shouldn't fall into is implying that the Quran was the work or word of prophet Muhammed! Muslims believe it to be the word of GOD.

Rare who read between the lines.. in his videos, though he's very knowledgeable about many things, many times falsehood is instilled in his explanations.. the problem is when I see ignorants and simple minds easily drinking it and on top of that they praise him for learning from him about their religion !!!
      إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون
(PS: I feel but Allah Knows best, that this guy is the real example for why Allah swt said about Jews المغضوب عليهم )The wrath of Allah is upon them) because they KNOW the Truth but they REJECT it. While christians are الضالين (the losts) because they are misguided by their Paul, churches and priests and IGNORE the Truth.. that's why when they discover The Truth, christians are more receptive and accept it unlike the Jews).
*May Allah swt open Muslims eyes and Non Muslims hearts and guide us to His Straight Path. Ameen*

In Surah 9:30 we read that “the Jews” say that Ezra (actually Uzair in Arabic who is not known in the Jewish literature) is the Son of God the Christians say that the Jesus is the Son of God. “the Jews” implies all of the Jews, yet there are no Jews known who ever made this claim. And even if there was some obscure Jewish sect that said that Ezra is the Son of God, the verse is still false as “the Jews” ie all of them never said this.

There is no general concept of sonship in Islam. Allah is father to none. People are either slaves of Allah or in rebellion. There is no Judaic reference to a belief in 'Uzair' being the Son of G_d. Muhammad is not renowned as a teacher of comparative religions. He even presented the Christian Trinity as Father, Son and Mother. A deeper study of Muhammad and his claims will cast a different light on this issue. Bless you, Rabbi.
