embarrasing uh?.. i have no idea how can people like this trash in a game like Genshin.. The characters looks amazing, but totally out of place, its like putting a laser rifle in a game of magic and swords.. just ugly. People say but Genshin has "guns" and they totally miss the point what we're talking about.

i have to agree that natlan characters put me off in the one regard that they have such extremely modern elements to them, xilonen being a dj which has nothing to do with her character or job? Mavuika with the motorbike for no reason related to the story? This is just the rule of cool and that's a problem
Exactly. When you look at the rest of Natlan, there is no sign at all of this modern tech, it's literally only with the player characters. Completely out of place and immersion breaking imo.
You guys do realize that Teyvat used to be extremely Technologically Advanced before the War and it was destroyed. Mavuika literally came from 500 years ago and the Natlan characters are using Knowledge & Weapons of Ancient Heroes of the Past. Scaramoushe was inside a Giant Gundam, The Traveler was inside a Giant Robot, the people of Sumeru were not using any Mechs but a Motorcycle & a Flying Gun is Crazy???
@@OmenLamb As OP mentioned, the issue is not that these things exist. It's just that these things exist ONLY for playable characters inside their kit and not in the story otherwise at all. Like, c'mon, they should have shown Mauvika riding on her bike while fighting Capitano if that's seriously how she fights. Let Xilonen be a DJ and make that part of the story, I reckon that less people are going to complain if these things are integrated in the world and explained through the story/lore rather than just putting in their kit randomly.
The giant mechas, flying robots , flying airships, lasers , cameras , missiles, digital panels in the world are ignored now? Genshin aways had a mix of old and futuristic look

The weapons they have are from Ancient Technology, they have Ancient Heroes inside their head, their Weapons are Ancient Weapons. Why does she have to DJ? Did Chloride & Chev need to be a Gunsmiths to explain them having guns? Did Scaramoushe have to be a Scientist & Mechanic to explain him riding a Gundam? The Raiden Shogun created two Super AI Puppets more Technology Advanced that ANYTHING IN TEYVAT but looks at Inazuma.
Nah... i personally don't use Xiangling but the metaslaves will never stop using her because she was just badly designed and has no icd for some reason. The main reason Mavuika offield is good is because it's just a skill so i don't have to warp the team around funneling energy into pyronadoling

When you do a comparison between c6 Xiangling and c0 Mavuika Mavuika skill have a 15s cd and applies pyro six time once every 2s after you cast her skill and before her nightsould pts is consumed and has 3s uptime. While Xiangling’s pyronado applies pyro once every 1s-0.5s for 14s and has 6s uptime If both is compared in the span of 20s which by then Mavuika could recast her skill. Pyronado still deals more dmg then Mavuika skills depending on how you maneuver the Pyronado Mavuika passive which give 50% dmg bonus has a normal multiplier so its basically the same as Baizhu passive multiplier. It does not give a lot of dmg bonus then you expected The only reason why Mavuika support role is better then Xiangling is because of the Hero Cinder City set.
Seeing her bike in the splash art was surprising cuz there was no mention of it in the main quest. They could've have at least shown it during the quest covered under a tarp or had Mauvika making a passing comment on it.

It’s a visual hint, but there is no world building in Natlan set up for any vehicles for anything other than wooden carts and hot air balloons. At least with the starter playable characters, we saw NPCs fighting with similar tech as them to integrate abilities. It’s valid to say that her bike came out of nowhere and could have at least been shown. Especially during the war act.

While I understand most people's problem with the motorcycle because it doesn't seem normal with the culture and tech of Tevyat, and I get that but I love the new trend of Genshin actually giving characters new weapons since Fontaine. Wriothesley has Gauntlets, Neuvi has Hydro Pump(and a cane), Navia has a shotgun umbrella, Chlorinde has a Pistollette and Sword, Mualani has an inflatable shark, Kinich has an 8 bit dragon cannon, and Chasca has a flying gun. I for one am stoked about seeing something unique, because Genshin's formula is getting repetetive for the entire gameplay loop, so the characters being new is very exciting.
But Fontaine characters meet the aesthetics of steampunk style with the city itself, where Natlan as major cities are made of clay but they have 8-bit dragon, a flying shotgun and a motorbike, Mualani and Kachina are way better and fit NATLAN but after that...genshin trying way too hard After WUWA movement system Genshin is pushing it so hard that it is FORCED, in Genshin explorer characters were unique but now every natlan characters have implemented in them.

its not Exiting in general, its exiting for you ,ugly and out of place for me... And im not talking about characters having "alternative" weapons, but ugly huge out of place shit. Look at Maulani, perfecly fine, in tune fantasy oriented, same with Kinich, kachina same, Xilonen.. trash, using a moden DJ console.. rollerblade? -.- same with chaska, ugly as hell, way too big, way too flashy, it makes all other characters look like inferior shit, that its not really nice, and mavuika follow the same principle its not like she has a "in theme" bike, made of stone fantasy etc.. she has a fucking 2024 sport bike model WITH modern style helmet, its just out of place. Looking good? sure they look cool as fuck , just NOT in this game tho. In star rail would be ok, in wuwa too.. we player for 4 years, with "magical/medieval" weapons and magic style.. and now all of a sudden MODERN WORLD shit? No that's just ugly.
I can accept it lore-wise, but just find the animation to be janky and silly looking. Past characters generally have more smoothe and fluid burst animations, but Mauvika’s motorcycle boisterously jumps across the screen. Instead of an elegant goddess performing some cool movement, her animation is simply jarring, imo. I was saving for her for almost a year, but now plan on skipping her because of how little I like her animations 😅
from what i saw from the chinese leaks they're saying it would be around 25%-50% damage bonus. not 100%. and it will be a sliding scale based on how many nightsoul points you spend up to 200. she can burn up 110 all by herself. meaning xilonen who can burn 90 in about 2 seconds of field time will be wedded to her hip. the problem is the pyro archon is apparently an attack scaler. meaning she's fucking wedded to bennett too. no clue if her off field dps will snapshot or not. but it's looking like her best team will be bennett, furina, xilonen. so this doesn't sound like a "game changer". i'd personally prefer it if you could at least replace bennett on teams with her. but with her damage effect tied to nightsoul points spent, they've pigeonholed her into the current meta, not created a new meta. her best support team will probably be mualani, furina and xilonen. i love her design. but... the rumors don't look amazing. i hope they rework her.

Her burst and skill has the highest multiplier in the whole game more than Neuvillette's CA and Mualani's Burst who had the most multiplier before. And getting her full buff Is not that hard and i highly doubt u need both Bennet and Furina with her. I think her BIS team will be Mavuika Xilonen Citlali and Bennet becoz the damage bonus she provides will be enough to ignore Furina in her teams. She needs to be nerf or she'll be a game changer better than any Pyro dps's in the game. Another Neuvillette case.

I agree with everyone's explanation why motorbike in Teyvat is okay, but it looks so bad. How every other archon can be so simple and cool, but Mauvika needs that silly motorbike :D ... she was so much better in cutscenes.. I don't want to ride bike everytime I have to fight..
People comparing the ruin guardians and whatever to the motorcycle saying it's the same... NO, one is fantasy world material while the other look like it was taken from a cyberpunk/modern story and pasted in genshin because somebody wanted to

I hate it. Chasca's gun also weirded me out but i accepted it. The byke tho? I can't accept it. Maybe it's because of how goofy it looks in battle. Maybe it's colour. Maybe i hate that she is wearing a helmet. Idk. But something just does not feel right. Sigh.

you’ll probably crave and pull her, probably. It’s more of the experience in playstyle and her animations and fighting style are just fun to play with. I mean she can fly, drive in water and ride around i for one am very excited.
@@nicaise4402 of course she is not useless, you are completely wrong, Mavuika's own Nightsoul points count towards the 100 points, so she only needs about 12 NA to reach 100 points, and her skill is great, being able to apply pyro to multiple targets while off-field, she applies enough to many teams with the exception of a few, and she also buffs on-field char dmg after burst, even in her current state she is already an incredible character even as a subdps, you don't know what you are talking about just like a lot of people out there who are doomposting her without even knowing how her kit actually works.
Fun fact, motorcycles already exist in genshin lore, created by Cloud Retainer and powered by adepti energy, it makes sense that a bike powered by flogiston would work since for technological devices shows to work amazingly (just look at Xilonen). There would be more vehicles outside Natlan, but flogiston doesn’t last longo outside of that land.

Very good points and connection back to Cloud Retainer, great reminder about technological capabilities (yet as others raised, while some things may be in lore, they are not evident or have not been realized so its difficult to truly claim these as genuinely existing except in say the theoretical diagrams of Xianyun) I think many of use who have criticisms about the bike perhaps fall into either one or both of these categories (but not wishing to speak for everyone so maybe people have other reasons too): First, 1) preference in aesthetics and/or disappointment in expectations, which is our own biases and hopes that we need to contend with. Second, but primarily a complaint I see constantly dismissed and invalidated which does not seem fair and I believe this is a warranted critique of the game direction/developmental execution of it on a conceptual basis: 2) those who are critiquing the technology acceleration, at least to me, are not denying that there are technological aspects or advancements throughout Teyvat (i.e., Fontaine is the epitome of this fact yet most do not hold such disdain for the technology at play, in large part due to its seamless integration with the theme and consistency throughout the experience of the entire region) but rather it is a critique specifically to Natlan as the technology integration is not on par in a logically consistent manner, is far too subtle/underdeveloped, or at least could and should have been more incorporated throughout the Tribes (i.e., anthropological observations in customs, tools, ways of life, architecture, etc surmising largely of stone/wood tools, decor, huts, etc that denote the technological stage of the region, which does not match the simultaneous existence of say Kinich's digital dynamics, Chasca's gigantic and bizarre gun design, Xilonen's rave/disco components, and of course, the lady of the hour, Mavuika's highly modern motorcycle). Phlogiston exists and there are some technological devices even in Natlan (more of the remnants of the former dragon age) but it is largely absent and not visible in the daily lives of the Tribespeople and the stage is very nearly preindustrial at scale to such a degree that it makes such components hard to believe as natural instead of viewing it as an immersion breaking, non-cohesive distraction. But that's my perspective on the matter, sorry I got going, a bit longer than intended! Perhaps worthwhile to consider? I for one have my complaints largely due to the issues raised above but my argument isn't claiming that there is no technology in Teyvet, its these other integrations that make this new modern direction feel like it clashes with the essence of Genshin. Thank you for your distinction though regarding Liyue and the adepti specifically and hope this was at least an interesting/well received response!
I personally dont like the motorcycle innn this game. So also feel put off. It will really depend on how she plays. I also loved Chasca initially but the gameplay and riding a gun really put me off. Such a bummer. I might just keep saving for a next character.
Exactly how I feel. I loved Chascas design, but decided to delay pulling her bc of the ridiculous gun she's riding and go for other characters on my list first. I don't love her character enough to pull her immediatly and ignore this. Mavuika is the same. I feared she'd get one bc of the outfit they have chosen for her. That felt of already. Now she indeed got the BotW Link treatmeant (or Himeko if you want) - motocycle...nay. However, I like her character more. Might still not be enough for me to pull her on her first banner, but at least she has better chances than Chasca... [Sidenote: Most characters I pull are who I like, not who is meta or strong. If both match, yay, if not, idc.]
@@_Kettenkratnatlan is on top of the highest life forms in teyvat, dragons. Their civilization had the ultimate tech in teyvat. Natlan is in constant war which propels innovation faster. I'm sure no one would try to reverse engineer a civilization that was in the height of technology.
The bike nor being Medieval is the problem, the problem is that Natlan does not provide any context for this kind of technology to exist. All of Natlan is basically the boonies then we suddenly have a Ducati Diavel 1260. It's out of place. Ancient Teyvat is not current day Natlan, they dont even understand Ancient Natlan Dragon tech. The bike/flying gun/Roller blades would've been more coherent had the nation provided better representation of structural accommodation for said current day tech; there is no real sign of advanced phlogiston tech in common use by the rest of the nation, no Phligiston workshops and engineers(no, not name engravers/not blacksmiths either), no roads for a bike. People still use hand drawn carriages and live in mud huts. Place the bike in the chasms of the Children of Echoes, atop the wooden platforms of the Scions, the Shamans within the caves of the Night wind. Does it feel consistent? I bet that that they are going chalk it up to Xilonen engineering a high performance magical bike.
Yeah I hard doubt they are gonna do that, especially considering she hasn't even had a rerun yet and is one of the most popular characters, they would very much be shooting themselves in the foot with that
@Tufis-WuWa I have a bad news for you, don't start calculating Furina vs Yelan/waterboy difference. Or Nahida vs other dendro(even 2 combined in some cases). 25% is nothing and she can easily be nerfed to 10-15%.
(Leak Talk) I know the motorcycle catches people off guard, but if you watch closely during the gameplay, the bike’s special fire effects actually make up a dragon (very clearly) so I think it’s a really cool way to make her ride both a motorcycle and a dragon which I know is what people originally wanted! it’s a pretty genius decision IMO.

The most broken characters together? Furina and Xilonen with Mavuika and a flex on one side and Xiangling on the other side with her usual partners in crime, She's never retiring! Oh and I love the motorcycle! 5ds/DMC fan lol. Not to mention, I like to go fast.
I'd hate to skip an Archon and ruin my Archon collection but the last thing we need is another Pyro On-field DPS. This will go down as one of the biggest disappointments in the game. * Terrible kit that is the opposite of what we need. We needed our first dedicated 5 star Pyro off-fielder, not another on fielder. * Not only is she mid off-field, but what's worse is her DPS is just OP af, why on Earth would we powercreep Arlecchino, who has already slightly powercrept the rest of the Pyro DPS's? Not to Mention Arlecchino is 10x more interesting and better written. This is purely bad game design on both end. * One of the least interesting Archons story-wise with the least personality. The only thing keeping her interesting at all is cool fight scenes and she's kinda hot. * And to top it all off that Goofy ah motorbike doesn't do her favours. But hey, she'll have the best mobility in overworld so most casuals will just care about that. Citlali is more interesting. Both gameplay, design and story, might just skip for her instead.
Same. I’ve been collecting them since I started in October 2022. Even pulled Venti years late for collecting. Trying to remember that a year ago, I thought I wouldn’t get Furina because she annoyed me in the story and now I love her. But unless something turns around with this kit, might be the end of collecting for me
Here's my idea: *Mavuika, the Pyro Archon* : *Skill* : Upon activation, Mavuika transforms into a dragon rider, soaring swiftly and high above the overworld while riding her flaming dragon. If the hold skill is done, she doesn't ride the dragon. Instead, massive dragon wings materialize on her back. These wings flap at timed intervals, dealing Pyro damage over a set duration. During this state, her normal and charged attacks are infused with Pyro. If the player switches characters, the wings remain active, continuing to deal off-field Pyro damage at regular intervals. *Burst* : Her special 5-star animation begins with a cinematic where the dragon roars from deep within a volcano. A colossal Pyro attack erupts from the ground, as though breaking through the surface of a volcanic eruption, unleashing a massive AoE Pyro burst on enemies within a wide radius, dealing significant damage. Is this too much to ask for?
Oddly yes it is too much due to dragon and archon working together. Each time it seems to create a big mess that either MC has to fix or a ruined society that MC discovers. If you replaced all the dragon references with “legally not a dragon” it would work 😂
I agree with the motorcycle and giant flying gun... I know we have advanced tech like ruin guards and even muskets and such but idk something about it just kind of bothers me. Can't deny the motorcycle is cool though even if I was hoping for a dragon.
That's for teyvat current era, but in the dragon era, technology more advanced. (It's canon from world quest) king deshret era also had advanced technology
Well there are giant robots but they are mostly lost tech. Natalan feels like it was designed by a different team for a different game. Feels like they couldn't figure out a real world inspiration beyond a few names so they just said screw it and went with a shopping mall.
It’s like if Wakanda didn’t have a massive city but instead a bunch of stone houses, yet still having all of that advanced technology lying around. Take Fontaine for example, for the longest time Fontaine had always been implied to be at the forefront of tech, so when we see mechas and guns it didn’t feel out of place (the steampunk style also helps).
a phlogiston powered motorcycle is completely believable when you remember hydro/indemnitium powered flying ships in Fontaine, and then giant Gundan robot we fight in Sumeru, why people just assumed Natlan wouldn’t have any advanced technology being a constant nation of war is crazy
Main problem, sumeru has dendro archon, wisdom of teyvet and one and only academy to graduate. Fontaine known for their tech. Also,both nation share tech with their people(Akasha and robot, newspaper etc),but natlan .. everything feels monopolised, atleast show a world quest of a vehicle research centre where flying revolver and bikes prototype are being made.Just need the base to prove their existence.
What Fontain has is thematic coherency. The entirety of Fonatain was built around the steampunk theme with giant research institute with generations of research, the technology reflects in their architectural structures, their attires, their customs and you see wide spread common use of the Pneuma-Ousia tech throughout the nation, it's heavily incorporated in the entire story. Natlan did not built a floor to accommodate such an advanced item, instead it was probably some girl on roller skates who magically pulled it out of ass.
Maybe because all of Natlan is basically huts held hardly together by mud, sticks, and rope? Its archaic compared to the other regions and to then suddenly have digital and now industrial mechanics flung into it without reason, its just not a seamless or believable scenario Its immersion breaking in the very least because they did not adequately incorporate the technology and mechanics in the lived and observable experience of Natlan so it is out of place and not realistic. People can enjoy it but its not consistent or logical and that fact is seemingly ignored while those of us who are aware of it can't deny this reality
Xiangliing will never be dead because she cooks every abyss. And she's cooking the next one. I won't be surprised is Xiangliing gets an ancient name next patch lmao.
Nah she's not going anywhere 100% sure of that. Just like Xingqiu and Sucrose stayed relevant in their own niche after Yelan and Kazuha respectively. Xiangling will just be used on the other half of the abyss or for whatever (futuer) team wants even more pyro application than Mavuika.

What Murderofbirds reminded me is true, Cloud Retainer once made a motorized bike of some sort to beat Moon Carver in a race, so yeah, some sort of vehicles do exist, it's just we haven't seen them...
I can kinda see your point, kinda odd that it's a sleek high tech looking one as well rather than holding a similar aesthetic with the assumed time period like they did with the Cycle in BoTW. Personally, I hope they use it as an excuse to tie in beings from other worlds (like a Crossover event to tie in ZZZ or HSR) And it's not like there is a complete lack of technology with how advanced Fontaine and their mechas worked, and we know that Katherine is a machine that is borderline indistinguishable from humans, and Snesnayan made. So while Genshin has some high tech stuff, the bike seems odd.
Yes and no. Ruin guards pretty widespread across all Teyvat, bcs it's technology of dead long ago civilization. But motorcycle is only one, if let's say flying cars and motorcycles was very common in Natlan it wouldn't look so out of place, but instead Natlan ppl riding dinosaurs and only "choosen" circle of a few ppl riding futuristic devices/vehicles. 😅 Imagine this situation irl: all city rides horses and only mayor on the Lamborghini 🤣
Explain this then. If Mavuika has a motorcycle, how come no one else has transportation even close to that advanced? They explain Khaenri'an technology very well in the lore, here I hate it because they gave it as little thought as possible and just went "uH iT's pOweReD bY pHloGiStoN" despite everywhere else showing they clearly dont have the knowledge to craft such a thing. So dumb. It breaks the world building. They normally put so much effort into the lore making everything believable in this world but they really dropped the ball with Natlan
Totally right. When we arrived Sumeru we saw those giant Ruin Guards bloated with actual computers in the inside. In fact, what we saw about Kaenri'ah was pretty advanced technology... Not to mention the Akasha terminal that someone has already pointed here that is basically Internet (or Sumeru's intranet if you prefer) for conecting to a State manipulated encyclopaedia which made for an insane futuristic ciberpunk dystopia theme for a big part of the Archon Quest on Sumeru, on Genshin. In the end, I think that Genshin scriptwriters are really good at mixing things and put ideas that at first glance should not be there just for the looks.
While we haven't "SEEN" a motor vehicle in genshin yet, if you've played the Xianyun(cloud retainer) story quest, she mentions that she built what is described as a motorcycle powered by electro to beat mountain shaper in a race. So there is some bases for vehicles in genshin just not powered by and engine and fuel but by the elements.

Why is it that Mavuika, Xilonen and Chasca are the only people in all of Natlan with access to this modern tech? Everyone else is riding animals. It doesn't fit into the world they created, and THAT'S the problem.

War pushes for new technology to be made, so its not surprising she has a motorcycle. Xianyun also told us she has one. Side note: Mavuika should be good with Lyney, bcs Lyney wants pyro teammates that are supports.
I don't really find the bike weird. There have been hints in Teyvat of contact with modern worlds. You can in fact see a car when Furina activates her burst. Other things that come to mind are Xinyan's rock aesthetic, or the yae publishing manga. We learn that the sky is fake, while outlanders like Alice allude to visiting advanced worlds. The Fatui being so advanced while in Mondstat always seemed sus. Teyvat is intentionally an incoherent fantasy world, because it is fake. Each region has an identity and Natlan is modern as an antidote to a streyotypical tribal society.
it makes sense in lore, you're not wrong, but I wish there was more synergy is all. the environment and the tribe home locations feel very tribal, but if there were more pieces of modern tech specifically around natlan, I'd be so much more down. I'd also be more down if this wasn't right on the tail of fontaine, which iirc, was explicitly stated to be the most technologically advanced of the nations. chlorinde having pistols and wrio having rocket gauntlets absolutely worked in fontaine, because fontaine as a whole had a lot of tech in the cities (think of all the gardemeks walking around, the massive press thing at the blacksmith there, and the more modern materials of the more advanced architecture). the tech also worked in sumeru despite its less modern visual style because the tech was flavored as a whole lot of magic (we didn't see an airpod earpiece type thing for the akasha for example, it was a swirl of glowing green magic at the ear). genshin has shown us plenty of tech things in the past and had it work in the world, idk why they fumbled so hard with it in natlan when they've already done this so many times before if natlan wanted to stick to the more basic and earthy style of architecture, I just really wish the tech followed a similar aesthetic. for example, the bike was carved from stone and has glowing red/orange runes on it that seem to make the bike work I think that's the disconnect people are having. I didn't like xilonen busting out a dj table for her burst/idles or really the entirety of ajaw's pixelated design and kinich's gamer themes because they just.... don't fit with natlan's aesthetic. the characters don't feel coherent with their own home. clorinde and chevreuse and wriothesley all felt like they fit in fontaine despite the more modern-feeling tech because fontaine as a whole had more modern-feeling tech - I wish I could say the same for xilonen and kinich and mauvuika and even chasca (much as I love her)
@lunaredelvour2972 Yeah the problem is the game doesn't properly address this. There are hints of people in Nathan being somewhat against technology. Nathan has an emphasis of preserving tradition and culture. However Chasca in her story quest brings up how mobility in the nation could be so much better if they adopted technology. I guess it could also show how vision holders are essentially the ambitions that let them rise above the confines that normal people face.

the motorbike really puts me off. It breaks immersion into the world of the game. It's like the developers though "hey .. the kids like motorbikes. Lets throw one of those in there". Totally frivolous decision (nb: we do already have a vehicle of sorts .. that thing Kachina rides around on)
Agreed with the Natlan modern tech, don't think it really goes with the rest of game. It's all very pretty and well designed, but does feel out of place. Also nothing on the Pyro Traveller? Is it just so likely to be meh that no one cares?
I have a pretty open mind plus I'm a huge anime guy so seeing characters flying on giant guns or characters riding motorcycles isn't all that crazy to me at all. Besides, although we haven't seen them, Vehicles exist in Genshin. Cloud Retainer created one to race Mountain Shaper. Apparently it was very fast but struggled going over the Rocky mountain terrain.
ok guys hear me out, she's the first archon who increase crit or crit damage upon ascension it means we finally have a DPS archon, well other archons can be dps but still this one is like build really for dps. If mavuika powercreep other pyro characters because as I can see on test server with broken support and at c0r1 she can deal a lot of damage 🤣 is it finally the time for my knave to retire? I mean I'm tired of dodging everything because I cant heal my pyro dps (I don't have zhongli) . The motorcycle (kind of) technically has a very logical explanation. Due to phlogiston and the tendencies it has, It can be used to morph into any type of weapon or object. This is most likely how Mavuika was able to obtain a motorcycle by manipulating phlogiston, because it’s practical for exploring and going through Natlan, and is also able to fight (run people over)
Peak design. Many mad people that there's a shiny new character that makes them no longer look like the coolest kid on the block. Just pull instead of using your samey 4 year old Genshin Circle characters. Change is good. Different designs are good.

I don't mind the bike. Considering Xilonen was able to make roller-skates that can GO UP WALLS, a motorbike is not that out of the questing. Like, I don't think people understand how insane those skates are. In order for them to go up walls the way they do they basically need to be motor powered already. If she can create some sort of phlogiston powered motor that small she can create one for a regular sized bike. Also she's still in beta so I'm hoping they lower the application just a little. I so wanna use her with Ganyu and 2 sec is just on the cusp of always melting comfortably.

The problem is not technology, but style. Fontaine’s mechs looks good cuz they add to the steampunkish aesthetic of the region for example. Natlan has tribes, houses built of clay and then suddenly a huge flying gun and a motorcycle that feels like it’s straight outta HSR. I’ve seen a video of Mavuika riding her bike in Inazuma and it feels so weird, like a Skyrim mod

Liuye has a freaking castle in sky, Fontaine has machine that turn off gravit, Humanoid puppets like kathrine, wanderer and machine gods like scara and Shogun exist and for some reason you can't stand a bike in thee. Lol .... Fontaine was even more advanced before their research institute got blown sky high. You can't complain about advanced technology in teyvat. However I can see that sports bike break the feel of fantasy in game earlier they used to implement technology in such a way that got the job done but didn't break the feel of fantasy now they are getting out of the fantasy journey and entering si-fi stuff..

Dps characters are usually powercrept in time, so I find it weird that they gave her that role. Especially because outside of that it seems her only speciality is 2s pyro off-field app. and be a BIS Natlan teammate. Hell, without Natlan teammates, she'll probably won't reach her full potential which can be really limiting for players who don't like the other Natlan charas... Maybe constellations will enable more teams? I'm curious...

I honestly dont care about mavuika no matter how good she may be because I just got a 36.5% crit dmg pyro goblet on set for my f2p c1 arlecchino who now has 204.2% crit dmg and 80.5% crit rate with r5 white tassel so Im saving for arlecchinos weapon first and c2 arle or mavuika second.
Raiden's teamwide elemental burst damage buff is actually just from having her skill active, so the comparison between her and mavuika (in terms of being able to provide at least some of her buffing from off field) is actually closer. Raiden still needs to on field to battery the team but her actual damage buffing isn't tied to burst at all

Like, c'mon, they should have shown Mauvika riding on her bike while fighting Capitano if that's seriously how she fights. Let Xilonen be a DJ and make that part of the story, I reckon that less people are going to complain if these things are integrated in the world and explained through the story/lore rather than just putting in their kit randomly.

Mavuika skill have a 15s cd and applies pyro six time once every 2s after you cast her skill and before her nightsould pts is consumed and has 3s uptime. While Xiangling’s pyronado applies pyro once every 1s-0.5s for 14s and has 6s uptime
If both is compared in the span of 20s which by then Mavuika could recast her skill. Pyronado still deals more dmg then Mavuika skills depending on how you maneuver the Pyronado
Mavuika passive which give 50% dmg bonus has a normal multiplier so its basically the same as Baizhu passive multiplier. It does not give a lot of dmg bonus then you expected
The only reason why Mavuika support role is better then Xiangling is because of the Hero Cinder City set.
Mavuika will not be a replacement for Xiangling. She is far more on fied oriented, Xiangling is just the better Sub-DPS still

Seeing her bike in the splash art was surprising cuz there was no mention of it in the main quest. They could've have at least shown it during the quest covered under a tarp or had Mauvika making a passing comment on it.

It’s a visual hint, but there is no world building in Natlan set up for any vehicles for anything other than wooden carts and hot air balloons. At least with the starter playable characters, we saw NPCs fighting with similar tech as them to integrate abilities. It’s valid to say that her bike came out of nowhere and could have at least been shown. Especially during the war act.
Perhaps we'll get to know some lore about the motorcycle in 5.3

While I understand most people's problem with the motorcycle because it doesn't seem normal with the culture and tech of Tevyat, and I get that but I love the new trend of Genshin actually giving characters new weapons since Fontaine. Wriothesley has Gauntlets, Neuvi has Hydro Pump(and a cane), Navia has a shotgun umbrella, Chlorinde has a Pistollette and Sword, Mualani has an inflatable shark, Kinich has an 8 bit dragon cannon, and Chasca has a flying gun.
I for one am stoked about seeing something unique, because Genshin's formula is getting repetetive for the entire gameplay loop, so the characters being new is very exciting.
But Fontaine characters meet the aesthetics of steampunk style with the city itself, where Natlan as major cities are made of clay but they have 8-bit dragon, a flying shotgun and a motorbike, Mualani and Kachina are way better and fit NATLAN but after that...genshin trying way too hard
After WUWA movement system Genshin is pushing it so hard that it is FORCED, in Genshin explorer characters were unique but now every natlan characters have implemented in them.

I can accept it lore-wise, but just find the animation to be janky and silly looking. Past characters generally have more smoothe and fluid burst animations, but Mauvika’s motorcycle boisterously jumps across the screen. Instead of an elegant goddess performing some cool movement, her animation is simply jarring, imo.
I was saving for her for almost a year, but now plan on skipping her because of how little I like her animations 😅
I cant wait to pull for her 90% damage bonus off field with cinder city and a powercreep Pyro Dps and A MOTERCYCLE say no more.
from what i saw from the chinese leaks they're saying it would be around 25%-50% damage bonus. not 100%. and it will be a sliding scale based on how many nightsoul points you spend up to 200. she can burn up 110 all by herself. meaning xilonen who can burn 90 in about 2 seconds of field time will be wedded to her hip.
the problem is the pyro archon is apparently an attack scaler. meaning she's fucking wedded to bennett too. no clue if her off field dps will snapshot or not. but it's looking like her best team will be bennett, furina, xilonen. so this doesn't sound like a "game changer". i'd personally prefer it if you could at least replace bennett on teams with her. but with her damage effect tied to nightsoul points spent, they've pigeonholed her into the current meta, not created a new meta. her best support team will probably be mualani, furina and xilonen.
i love her design. but... the rumors don't look amazing. i hope they rework her.

Her burst and skill has the highest multiplier in the whole game more than Neuvillette's CA and Mualani's Burst who had the most multiplier before. And getting her full buff Is not that hard and i highly doubt u need both Bennet and Furina with her. I think her BIS team will be Mavuika Xilonen Citlali and Bennet becoz the damage bonus she provides will be enough to ignore Furina in her teams. She needs to be nerf or she'll be a game changer better than any Pyro dps's in the game. Another Neuvillette case.

@@nicaise4402 of course she is not useless, you are completely wrong, Mavuika's own Nightsoul points count towards the 100 points, so she only needs about 12 NA to reach 100 points, and her skill is great, being able to apply pyro to multiple targets while off-field, she applies enough to many teams with the exception of a few, and she also buffs on-field char dmg after burst, even in her current state she is already an incredible character even as a subdps, you don't know what you are talking about just like a lot of people out there who are doomposting her without even knowing how her kit actually works.
Fun fact, motorcycles already exist in genshin lore, created by Cloud Retainer and powered by adepti energy, it makes sense that a bike powered by flogiston would work since for technological devices shows to work amazingly (just look at Xilonen). There would be more vehicles outside Natlan, but flogiston doesn’t last longo outside of that land.

Very good points and connection back to Cloud Retainer, great reminder about technological capabilities (yet as others raised, while some things may be in lore, they are not evident or have not been realized so its difficult to truly claim these as genuinely existing except in say the theoretical diagrams of Xianyun)
I think many of use who have criticisms about the bike perhaps fall into either one or both of these categories (but not wishing to speak for everyone so maybe people have other reasons too):
First, 1) preference in aesthetics and/or disappointment in expectations, which is our own biases and hopes that we need to contend with.
Second, but primarily a complaint I see constantly dismissed and invalidated which does not seem fair and I believe this is a warranted critique of the game direction/developmental execution of it on a conceptual basis: 2) those who are critiquing the technology acceleration, at least to me, are not denying that there are technological aspects or advancements throughout Teyvat (i.e., Fontaine is the epitome of this fact yet most do not hold such disdain for the technology at play, in large part due to its seamless integration with the theme and consistency throughout the experience of the entire region) but rather it is a critique specifically to Natlan as the technology integration is not on par in a logically consistent manner, is far too subtle/underdeveloped, or at least could and should have been more incorporated throughout the Tribes (i.e., anthropological observations in customs, tools, ways of life, architecture, etc surmising largely of stone/wood tools, decor, huts, etc that denote the technological stage of the region, which does not match the simultaneous existence of say Kinich's digital dynamics, Chasca's gigantic and bizarre gun design, Xilonen's rave/disco components, and of course, the lady of the hour, Mavuika's highly modern motorcycle). Phlogiston exists and there are some technological devices even in Natlan (more of the remnants of the former dragon age) but it is largely absent and not visible in the daily lives of the Tribespeople and the stage is very nearly preindustrial at scale to such a degree that it makes such components hard to believe as natural instead of viewing it as an immersion breaking, non-cohesive distraction. But that's my perspective on the matter, sorry I got going, a bit longer than intended!
Perhaps worthwhile to consider? I for one have my complaints largely due to the issues raised above but my argument isn't claiming that there is no technology in Teyvet, its these other integrations that make this new modern direction feel like it clashes with the essence of Genshin. Thank you for your distinction though regarding Liyue and the adepti specifically and hope this was at least an interesting/well received response!

I personally dont like the motorcycle innn this game. So also feel put off. It will really depend on how she plays. I also loved Chasca initially but the gameplay and riding a gun really put me off. Such a bummer. I might just keep saving for a next character.

I loved Chascas design, but decided to delay pulling her bc of the ridiculous gun she's riding and go for other characters on my list first. I don't love her character enough to pull her immediatly and ignore this.
Mavuika is the same. I feared she'd get one bc of the outfit they have chosen for her. That felt of already. Now she indeed got the BotW Link treatmeant (or Himeko if you want) - motocycle...nay.
However, I like her character more. Might still not be enough for me to pull her on her first banner, but at least she has better chances than Chasca...

The bike nor being Medieval is the problem, the problem is that Natlan does not provide any context for this kind of technology to exist. All of Natlan is basically the boonies then we suddenly have a Ducati Diavel 1260. It's out of place. Ancient Teyvat is not current day Natlan, they dont even understand Ancient Natlan Dragon tech. The bike/flying gun/Roller blades would've been more coherent had the nation provided better representation of structural accommodation for said current day tech; there is no real sign of advanced phlogiston tech in common use by the rest of the nation, no Phligiston workshops and engineers(no, not name engravers/not blacksmiths either), no roads for a bike. People still use hand drawn carriages and live in mud huts. Place the bike in the chasms of the Children of Echoes, atop the wooden platforms of the Scions, the Shamans within the caves of the Night wind. Does it feel consistent? I bet that that they are going chalk it up to Xilonen engineering a high performance magical bike.

I know the motorcycle catches people off guard, but if you watch closely during the gameplay, the bike’s special fire effects actually make up a dragon (very clearly) so I think it’s a really cool way to make her ride both a motorcycle and a dragon which I know is what people originally wanted! it’s a pretty genius decision IMO.

I'd hate to skip an Archon and ruin my Archon collection but the last thing we need is another Pyro On-field DPS. This will go down as one of the biggest disappointments in the game.
* Terrible kit that is the opposite of what we need. We needed our first dedicated 5 star Pyro off-fielder, not another on fielder.
* Not only is she mid off-field, but what's worse is her DPS is just OP af, why on Earth would we powercreep Arlecchino, who has already slightly powercrept the rest of the Pyro DPS's? Not to Mention Arlecchino is 10x more interesting and better written. This is purely bad game design on both end.
* One of the least interesting Archons story-wise with the least personality. The only thing keeping her interesting at all is cool fight scenes and she's kinda hot.
* And to top it all off that Goofy ah motorbike doesn't do her favours. But hey, she'll have the best mobility in overworld so most casuals will just care about that.
Citlali is more interesting. Both gameplay, design and story, might just skip for her instead.

Trying to remember that a year ago, I thought I wouldn’t get Furina because she annoyed me in the story and now I love her. But unless something turns around with this kit, might be the end of collecting for me
Here's my idea:
*Mavuika, the Pyro Archon* :
*Skill* : Upon activation, Mavuika transforms into a dragon rider, soaring swiftly and high above the overworld while riding her flaming dragon. If the hold skill is done, she doesn't ride the dragon. Instead, massive dragon wings materialize on her back. These wings flap at timed intervals, dealing Pyro damage over a set duration. During this state, her normal and charged attacks are infused with Pyro. If the player switches characters, the wings remain active, continuing to deal off-field Pyro damage at regular intervals.
*Burst* : Her special 5-star animation begins with a cinematic where the dragon roars from deep within a volcano. A colossal Pyro attack erupts from the ground, as though breaking through the surface of a volcanic eruption, unleashing a massive AoE Pyro burst on enemies within a wide radius, dealing significant damage.
Is this too much to ask for?

Natalan feels like it was designed by a different team for a different game.
Feels like they couldn't figure out a real world inspiration beyond a few names so they just said screw it and went with a shopping mall.
It’s like if Wakanda didn’t have a massive city but instead a bunch of stone houses, yet still having all of that advanced technology lying around. Take Fontaine for example, for the longest time Fontaine had always been implied to be at the forefront of tech, so when we see mechas and guns it didn’t feel out of place (the steampunk style also helps).
Fontain had robots and other mechanical things but that didn't clash with its region as much as natlan does with its chr unic gadgets

Natlan in essence is very similar to Wakanda.
Main problem, sumeru has dendro archon, wisdom of teyvet and one and only academy to graduate.

Also,both nation share tech with their people(Akasha and robot, newspaper etc),but natlan .. everything feels monopolised, atleast show a world quest of a vehicle research centre where flying revolver and bikes prototype are being made.Just need the base to prove their existence.
What Fontain has is thematic coherency. The entirety of Fonatain was built around the steampunk theme with giant research institute with generations of research, the technology reflects in their architectural structures, their attires, their customs and you see wide spread common use of the Pneuma-Ousia tech throughout the nation, it's heavily incorporated in the entire story. Natlan did not built a floor to accommodate such an advanced item, instead it was probably some girl on roller skates who magically pulled it out of ass.
Maybe because all of Natlan is basically huts held hardly together by mud, sticks, and rope? Its archaic compared to the other regions and to then suddenly have digital and now industrial mechanics flung into it without reason, its just not a seamless or believable scenario
Its immersion breaking in the very least because they did not adequately incorporate the technology and mechanics in the lived and observable experience of Natlan so it is out of place and not realistic. People can enjoy it but its not consistent or logical and that fact is seemingly ignored while those of us who are aware of it can't deny this reality

Nah she's not going anywhere 100% sure of that. Just like Xingqiu and Sucrose stayed relevant in their own niche after Yelan and Kazuha respectively. Xiangling will just be used on the other half of the abyss or for whatever (futuer) team wants even more pyro application than Mavuika.

I can kinda see your point, kinda odd that it's a sleek high tech looking one as well rather than holding a similar aesthetic with the assumed time period like they did with the Cycle in BoTW. Personally, I hope they use it as an excuse to tie in beings from other worlds (like a Crossover event to tie in ZZZ or HSR)
And it's not like there is a complete lack of technology with how advanced Fontaine and their mechas worked, and we know that Katherine is a machine that is borderline indistinguishable from humans, and Snesnayan made. So while Genshin has some high tech stuff, the bike seems odd.

But motorcycle is only one, if let's say flying cars and motorcycles was very common in Natlan it wouldn't look so out of place, but instead Natlan ppl riding dinosaurs and only "choosen" circle of a few ppl riding futuristic devices/vehicles. 😅 Imagine this situation irl: all city rides horses and only mayor on the Lamborghini 🤣

So dumb. It breaks the world building. They normally put so much effort into the lore making everything believable in this world but they really dropped the ball with Natlan
Totally right. When we arrived Sumeru we saw those giant Ruin Guards bloated with actual computers in the inside. In fact, what we saw about Kaenri'ah was pretty advanced technology... Not to mention the Akasha terminal that someone has already pointed here that is basically Internet (or Sumeru's intranet if you prefer) for conecting to a State manipulated encyclopaedia which made for an insane futuristic ciberpunk dystopia theme for a big part of the Archon Quest on Sumeru, on Genshin.
In the end, I think that Genshin scriptwriters are really good at mixing things and put ideas that at first glance should not be there just for the looks.
While we haven't "SEEN" a motor vehicle in genshin yet, if you've played the Xianyun(cloud retainer) story quest, she mentions that she built what is described as a motorcycle powered by electro to beat mountain shaper in a race. So there is some bases for vehicles in genshin just not powered by and engine and fuel but by the elements.
So earlier we have 2 Xingquis and now we have 2 Xanglings ❤❤ still gonna pull!!!❤
The design choices for Natlan are baffling
We have had no vehicles in Genshin. Meanwhile the climax of Fontaine happened complete with submersible flying boat.Given that, what is the problem with a flying gun or motorcycle? People are too narrow minded. There are lots of merchant horse carts scattered about too. Lets not even get into the mining bots in Fontaine, what is the difference between a motorized unicycle automaton and a motorcycle?

I don't really find the bike weird. There have been hints in Teyvat of contact with modern worlds. You can in fact see a car when Furina activates her burst. Other things that come to mind are Xinyan's rock aesthetic, or the yae publishing manga. We learn that the sky is fake, while outlanders like Alice allude to visiting advanced worlds. The Fatui being so advanced while in Mondstat always seemed sus. Teyvat is intentionally an incoherent fantasy world, because it is fake. Each region has an identity and Natlan is modern as an antidote to a streyotypical tribal society.
it makes sense in lore, you're not wrong, but I wish there was more synergy is all. the environment and the tribe home locations feel very tribal, but if there were more pieces of modern tech specifically around natlan, I'd be so much more down. I'd also be more down if this wasn't right on the tail of fontaine, which iirc, was explicitly stated to be the most technologically advanced of the nations. chlorinde having pistols and wrio having rocket gauntlets absolutely worked in fontaine, because fontaine as a whole had a lot of tech in the cities (think of all the gardemeks walking around, the massive press thing at the blacksmith there, and the more modern materials of the more advanced architecture). the tech also worked in sumeru despite its less modern visual style because the tech was flavored as a whole lot of magic (we didn't see an airpod earpiece type thing for the akasha for example, it was a swirl of glowing green magic at the ear). genshin has shown us plenty of tech things in the past and had it work in the world, idk why they fumbled so hard with it in natlan when they've already done this so many times before
if natlan wanted to stick to the more basic and earthy style of architecture, I just really wish the tech followed a similar aesthetic. for example, the bike was carved from stone and has glowing red/orange runes on it that seem to make the bike work
I think that's the disconnect people are having. I didn't like xilonen busting out a dj table for her burst/idles or really the entirety of ajaw's pixelated design and kinich's gamer themes because they just.... don't fit with natlan's aesthetic. the characters don't feel coherent with their own home. clorinde and chevreuse and wriothesley all felt like they fit in fontaine despite the more modern-feeling tech because fontaine as a whole had more modern-feeling tech - I wish I could say the same for xilonen and kinich and mauvuika and even chasca (much as I love her)
@lunaredelvour2972 Yeah the problem is the game doesn't properly address this. There are hints of people in Nathan being somewhat against technology. Nathan has an emphasis of preserving tradition and culture. However Chasca in her story quest brings up how mobility in the nation could be so much better if they adopted technology. I guess it could also show how vision holders are essentially the ambitions that let them rise above the confines that normal people face.
We have large ships and even airships in Fontaine. I don't think a motorcycle is too much of a stretch lol
I really like that she is a dps, I don't want her to be a support or off field support coz then I wouldn't be able to see her animations

I have a pretty open mind plus I'm a huge anime guy so seeing characters flying on giant guns or characters riding motorcycles isn't all that crazy to me at all. Besides, although we haven't seen them, Vehicles exist in Genshin. Cloud Retainer created one to race Mountain Shaper. Apparently it was very fast but struggled going over the Rocky mountain terrain.
ok guys hear me out, she's the first archon who increase crit or crit damage upon ascension it means we finally have a DPS archon, well other archons can be dps but still this one is like build really for dps. If mavuika powercreep other pyro characters because as I can see on test server with broken support and at c0r1 she can deal a lot of damage 🤣 is it finally the time for my knave to retire? I mean I'm tired of dodging everything because I cant heal my pyro dps (I don't have zhongli) . The motorcycle (kind of) technically has a very logical explanation. Due to phlogiston and the tendencies it has, It can be used to morph into any type of weapon or object. This is most likely how Mavuika was able to obtain a motorcycle by manipulating phlogiston, because it’s practical for exploring and going through Natlan, and is also able to fight (run people over)

I don't mind the bike. Considering Xilonen was able to make roller-skates that can GO UP WALLS, a motorbike is not that out of the questing. Like, I don't think people understand how insane those skates are. In order for them to go up walls the way they do they basically need to be motor powered already. If she can create some sort of phlogiston powered motor that small she can create one for a regular sized bike.
Also she's still in beta so I'm hoping they lower the application just a little. I so wanna use her with Ganyu and 2 sec is just on the cusp of always melting comfortably.

The problem is not technology, but style. Fontaine’s mechs looks good cuz they add to the steampunkish aesthetic of the region for example. Natlan has tribes, houses built of clay and then suddenly a huge flying gun and a motorcycle that feels like it’s straight outta HSR. I’ve seen a video of Mavuika riding her bike in Inazuma and it feels so weird, like a Skyrim mod

Liuye has a freaking castle in sky, Fontaine has machine that turn off gravit, Humanoid puppets like kathrine, wanderer and machine gods like scara and Shogun exist and for some reason you can't stand a bike in thee. Lol .... Fontaine was even more advanced before their research institute got blown sky high. You can't complain about advanced technology in teyvat. However I can see that sports bike break the feel of fantasy in game earlier they used to implement technology in such a way that got the job done but didn't break the feel of fantasy now they are getting out of the fantasy journey and entering si-fi stuff..

Dps characters are usually powercrept in time, so I find it weird that they gave her that role. Especially because outside of that it seems her only speciality is 2s pyro off-field app. and be a BIS Natlan teammate. Hell, without Natlan teammates, she'll probably won't reach her full potential which can be really limiting for players who don't like the other Natlan charas... Maybe constellations will enable more teams? I'm curious...

I was hoping we'll finally get a good pyro off-field application 100% uptime with their skill itself but it seems she's made to be a dps for the most part, her application only apply pyro every 2s, wish they would make her more consistent as support too

They goofy Bike isn't even half the problem. No one asked for another Pyro DPS. Her entire kit is objectively terrible game design and a backwards step for Genshin. Devs are out of touch.
I honestly dont care about mavuika no matter how good she may be because I just got a 36.5% crit dmg pyro goblet on set for my f2p c1 arlecchino who now has 204.2% crit dmg and 80.5% crit rate with r5 white tassel so Im saving for arlecchinos weapon first and c2 arle or mavuika second.
Raiden's teamwide elemental burst damage buff is actually just from having her skill active, so the comparison between her and mavuika (in terms of being able to provide at least some of her buffing from off field) is actually closer. Raiden still needs to on field to battery the team but her actual damage buffing isn't tied to burst at all
