About two years ago, our daughter started working as a flight attendant for Delta. A major perk is parents can fly free on standby anywhere Delta flies. We are not retired yet, but managed to do about 40 trips including 11 countries in 2024. Get your kids to work for the airlines!!!!
I LOVE this video… how inspiring. It sums up the way my husband and I like to look at travel. Immersing ourselves in another culture, meeting locals, finding local restaurants or cafes to enjoy the food. It’s magical the interactions and experiences that can follow. Here’s to 2025! Enjoy your travels!!
Great video. My husband and I have been around the world 5 times so far. We are planning another trip around the world next year. (We follow the sun so we are 5 days younger, haha). We are in our early 70’s and usually travel for about 2 months at a time. Take care and God bless.
You are my inspiration. I hope to do the same type of traveling that you both do when my husband and I retire in 2 years. I’ll be 60 and we pray to be in good health for long. Happy and safe travels always!!
Thank you for sharing what works for you and why. Sorry you have received criticisms for your choices. I'm glad you are able to dismiss them and focus on the positive people your travels and social media presence have brought into your lives. When my wife and I retire, we will do things differently than you, but that's okay. For example, we don't have very much family to stay with and will need to maintain our own place for our home base. Your situation is different and that's okay. It is all about making the most in retirement and not sitting around doing nothing! Ugh! We know too many people who do that and they don't seem very happy. Hope your train trip is going well!
I have to say J&B, one of the worst things about life in general is also having too much "stuff" in our lives, it's a trap many fall into. Travelling light has so many benefits. I guess we could say it's predominantly a "first world problem". Happy New Year 2025 with lots of travel to interesting places to you both.
Thanks for your video and your perspective. I'm not a full time traveler, but when I do travel, I enjoy many of the same things you mentioned. I love going into grocery stores and learning how people shop and eat. Travel really is about changing our perspective, and I am thankful I have had that opportunity to see the world in a different way.
We do a mix of fast and slow travel, combined with a mix of hotel, apartment and van stays. There is no one way to travel! We also feel like we are learning so much by traveling.

Totally agree on all of this…especially walking and the educational value of experiential travel! With regard to not caring what people think…when we withdrew our daughters from middle school to world school, there was a neighborhood mom who said, “Do you REALLY think it’s a good idea for your girls to miss middle school???” (Probably with the exact same tone as the people who questioned why you were selling your home to travel.) 😂🙄 My response: “Yes. Yes, I do. It’s the best education they’ll ever get.” I love what you said at the end. “You do you. I’ll do me. But get out there and see the world!” ❤
