- So every year we celebrate National Coming Out Day....This year we wanted to interview a good friend of ours who is struggling with his life and choices about when he can or should come out. It is important that people take the time they need when coming out to friends and family. You need to take a look at your life and make sure you are in a safe secure place. The most important person in the world to come out to is yourself.
For all the people who find the courage to come out today congratulations on your journey may life get easier and better from this day forward.
Great video! Very educational and brave!
Coming Out is so important
to be true to yourself is what life is all about
congrats Jerome for at least telling your story....still very brave of you to do
All the best to Jerome and a heartfelt thanks to all of you for talking and educating people.
Jerome's story reminds me so much of my own when I was younger. I'm glad to see how far he's come.
Very interesting video!
Great job on video Bryan!!!
Congrats to you, Jerome, on this next step in being happy with yourself. Each step, whether external or internal, is something to be proud to ourselves for. We don't have to let labels define us, and by all of us making steps forward we work towards not letting others label us too.
Holy crap, Jerome is almost exactly like me! I can relate so much of his feelings to my own. Plus, he is pretty close to my age. He has been a lot braver than I in coming out to people, though. I have only come out to my best friend a few months ago. Good job Jerome. I am so with you, man!
Great interview! I expect to see more like this?
good lord hits ridiculously close to home.
thanks Jerome, you're really brave for doing that... n that's hot @_@
depfox and it gets better starting to make me feel lonely .. wish i had such a vibrant proactive community.
What an awesome RUclips video. Bryan-loved the questions..you are a great interviewer..I'm nominating you to CNN to be the next Anderson Cooper!! :)
Jerome-what you just did whether you realize it or not has helped so many others. The closet is such a lonely place..to actually see and hear another person in the same situation gives a lot of comfort and support. SOO proud of you here dude!!! Best of luck in that WIDE OPEN future that is standing in front of you! :)
Hi Jerome, you are not alone. Many people don't think they could be gay because they're masculine--there are gays on both sides of the spectrum. I hope that DADT is repealed soon and can't wait to celebrate that victory for gay and lesbian service members! It's an uphill battle--we only need to continue fighting it!
I will celebrate my coming out day in December 31st (when i actually came out, can you believe it?) This year it's going to be my 10th anniversary!! How time flies! Great Vid BTW
shame / self hate will bring you down. learn the signs & live more fierce
bryan must love his coffe cup. he usually sipping coffe all the time :)
I know its cheesy but I kind of find it nice that my parents anniversary is shared with a great day, happy 35th mom and dad.....may hate not be a problem on my 35th someday.
Funny when I came out to my first friend he gave me a casual look and basically said he did not care and felt like a big weight was lifted from my shoulders from his no reaction. You guys are right on how much that means to us when people react ok to it. Who see it as no big deal.
Once again, great video! Keep making these great interviews.. we all like the view :o) as well as the content. ~Thanks~
To lighten things up a little a quote from actor Nathan Lane. When he told his mother he was gay, she replied, "I'd rather you were dead," to which he replied, "I knew you'd understand."
haha Cat! I was like "what the heck is coming outta Jerome's head???" LOL
@NoAnimosity91 That's a tough choice. 8 years away jeez. Unless you feel ready to tell them or feel it's vital for them to know, then there's no reason for you to come out to them yet.
@depfox i understand what he is going through im not all the way out either but i realize that by doing vids like what i do i am able to help others. i dont know what the future holds for me but im willing to take the risk. you can do it jerome thwere's a wonderful gay world out there waiting for you.
Wasn't the law of 'don't ask, don't tell was moved by still kinda voting?
bryan should go into politics, he would sway sooo many people ;)
jedi knights should do more interviews :)
@LukeBasarab I had to pause to laugh haha
droid sound lol!
@depfox Hahahahaha... I'll just say: Jay you're one lucky guy. ;)
I am also joining the military. I leave for bootcamp at the end of the year. Because of this i am not sure if i want to wait to come out to my parents (friends already know) or do it now because i only have few months left living at home before i am gone for 8 years. Any advice?
you know what's sad? there was a rick perry add that played right before this video. -___- good think i could skip it after the first 5 seconds or so.
I hate these kind of comments but I have to say: Bryan you're so hot. :D
that dont ask dont tell thing will be the end of me! I DONT GET WHAT THE HELL IT STANDS FOR! why should the lgbt community keep who they are a secret while they serve?... its sad.
Don't enlist in the military, Jerome. The wars are fundamentally wrong and immoral. They kill thousands of middle easterners and Americans and make the US much less safe and secure. You're going to be torn down by a bigoted organization and possibly killed, while hurting your country, just to add to a couple of stock tickers. Join the Peace Corps or some other organization.
