- This February began with one of the most iconic photographs of the entire year, that of USMC Sgt.. Brandon Morgans welcome home kiss with boyfriend Dalan Wells....a photo that has come to be synonymous with the end of DADT. Well we had the incredible fortune of being able to sit down with Brandon and Dalan and to to get their point of view on how that photo has affected their lives and whats in store for their future.

I have to extend a special 'thanks' to "Gay Family Values" for posting this. Much appreciated. Very good interview and really great questions. We need more of this stuff. 'Don't wanna' leave too many comments and be a bother. BTW, I was fortunate enough to see some of the artwork of Mr. Dalan Wells, recently. Hmm, very gifted and prolific artist there!! Love is Love. It's a whole new world out there today.
Wow! I know that the work these two men have done has helped gay people in my own community be happier and healthier and has even helped some young people to come out and be honest, and, really, just have a huge burden of pain lifted off of their shoulders. I have a feeling that these guys have had angels with them for a very, very, long time. Now, they probably have even more! It is so unfortunate that people told Mr.Brandon Morgan such cruel things when he was so young. He must be a really, really strong person, like a warrior, really. I 'came out' when I was seventeen, wasn't easy, but I did. It took me YEARS to get away from the negative and hurtful people who raised me who have a very low opinion of people in the LGBTQ community. I am in my early forties now, and have separated from them altogether and am happier than I have ever been in my whole life, not to mention, doing great as a writer/natural bodybuilder and artist. What you've done might just be saving lives. My heart goes out to you both, best wishes and best of luck. You deserve it - You Always Have A Friend In SoCal
Words do not have sufficient power to express the degree of gratitude I have for both of these men. For letting the rest of the inhabitants of this planet see that they are no different than any other humans when it comes to love of life, family, commitment to work and home. ...still, I am compelled to say something to let them know their contribution is fully recognized. Thank you both for all you do for one another. Your love inspires, challenges, and educates so many others you do not see. Though the majority of us, myself included, will not get the chance to express our gratitude to you in person we want you to know you have made a difference. Be proud, be happy, be loved.

What a wonderful and inspiring story behind these two guys. It really gives one hope for the direction society moves. Especially how Brandon realized how everything in his life was good for something and lead him on his way. A great interview all in all!

That picture was my wall paper for a while. It relit the fuse in me to keep believing that i could meet a man one day, and be able to love him out in the open. And have a family :-)

I'm 50 y.o.and my 1st love was a deacon in the church and also the air force. When, we met and started dating he was diagnosed with testicular cancer and we were told it's because he was with me.well that was 1980 and things would of been alot different today your so lucky! Ive been in a different relationship for 21 years my military friend left me to get married to a woman and would call when horny and I'd have to say no! I'm proud youve done what we couldn't. I still love him .you're blessed
Bryan and Jay thank you. This interview means a lot. It also shows that in the time that I came out at 15 which was 18 yrs ago a lot has changed it been for the good. Like Brandon said I have known since I was 3-4 yrs old I was was gay. And side note it also so that love has no age limits (difference) on it.
I am glad that he talked about the things that made him who he is. That's wonderful to think about and how far you've come

the thing i notice is that those that oppose any relationship in the LGBT community seem to lean toward more toward the whole 'sexual' aspect of it. But when you get to know these couples, it's about love...not sex. Maybe all those against it should learn relationships are about love and not sex...perhaps that's why they have their own problems? Either way very happy to be a hetero ally! And happy to know these two had a happy ending!

Great interview, Bryan! Thanks for sharing your story, Brandon & Dalan. Glad that Advocate picked this up. To help make it clear, Brandon said you could choose to repress your feelings of being gay (aka hide the fact that you're gay). Even if you choose to hide that you're gay, you are still gay. Wanted to clear that up because I know some out there like to pick up on anything close to saying that it's a choice. Remember, think about love, not sex. Sex is not what makes you gay or straight.

A couple of ex-military guys who are a couple and now live on their ranch in a western state and who always impressed me as being on the conservative side commissioned me to do a large painting of that photo (right after it hit the news) for their house. Guess you guys really left an impression on them.

I'm glad when he had that moment it was with a great guy like Dalen. I can understand Dalen's trepidation about getting involved with a younger guy going through all that, it seems they're both glad he decided the way he did. :)

I simply do not understand why people who disagree with this video doesn't just move on -- why do you have to spend time expressing your negative point of view? This was a beautiful interview with two very thoughtful individuals who happen to be in love with each other. What is so difficult to understand about this? As a friend of mine said, that is why there is vanilla OR chocolate. There simply isn't enough happiness in the world. Why go around tromping on someone else's?
