    Maria bounced back really well after that double bagel from Davenport.
    She said she cried in the locker room after that one, but the next week, she played in Miami and the first set she played, she won 6-0. She also made the final, beating Henin and Venus and then beat Davenport the next three times they played.

    I do think that the biggest humiliation in the history was when Pliskova got double 6-0 against Swiatek( which was not that big yet) at one of her favorite tournaments.🥲

      @@MinuMatshe has a W F F in three consecutive years in Rome, we can argue she liked that tournament very much at the time she got demolished by Swiatek in that third final in a row
      Rome is where she got one of her only two masters titles too.

    That match from Davenport was delightful. It's a shame she didn't win a grand slam that year. Always thought she had more potential than what her track record suggests (like she could have won 6 GS, or even more)

    Lindsay Davenport is top 10 in history and for some reason played her best tennis this match you can't blame Sharapova.

      @hillwellford9637 13 дней назад +2

      98 weeks at number one. She seems (and Henin seems) to be forgotten more easily than the rest but Davenport was terrifying in her day. This match wasn't an aberration.

    • @Summon256
      @Summon256 8 дней назад

      Davenport is not top-10...maybe top-20, but top-10 definitely not! Lol Both Williams sisters, Hingis, Henin, Goolagong Cawley, Seles, BJ King, Evert, Court, Navratilova, Graf, Wills Moody, Lenglen, Connolly, Sharapova and even Clijsters are all greater than Davenport! And that is 16 people ahead already! Lol And even if we were to limit this list to open era exclusively she still wouldn't make top-10! Lol

    • @hasana1051
      @hasana1051 13 дней назад +4

      I guess Vika didn’t have to do anything, Kenin was ending most of the points herself with her errors. Like when Iga won Beijing final against Samsonova, she hit 2 winners and 0 unforced errors. Score was 6-2 6-2

    Kenin having a slam is so embarrassing for the WTA. Such a shame Garbi mentally collapsed in that AO final.

  • @TiannNChong
    @TiannNChong 12 дней назад +1

    I wonder in what order is the most humiliating blowout for Safina: the 2009 AO final against Serena, 2009 Wimbledon semi against Venus, 2009 French Open final against Kuznetsova, or the 2011 R1 AO match agaiinst Clijsters. Personally I would rank the 2011 R1 match the least humiliating, it was Safina's first match back from long injury hiatus IIRC, and she was damn unlucky to draw Clijsters who had won the 2010 US Open, 2010 WTA finals and also reached the 2011 Sydney final.
