U go economically left take as much investments as u can then just go pan islamism or communism and not pay the debts, losing the balkan war doesnt matter cuz balkans mostly arent cores if u win the balkan war then unshould just release them as puppet so u only get investments in core places
fun fact: the Ottoman Public Debt Administration (OPDA) was created so that the Ottomans could pay back their debts and investors could get their returns (iirc). Though the main purpose of the OPDA was solely to make sure the Ottoman Empire doesn't default on their debts for the second time.
Playing challenging states makes for the most interesting runs. Love this mod. EDIT: Haha, just realised you're also Belgian as well. I just couldn't tell, because you don't have a strong accent. Subscribed.
The purchase equipment decisions are incredible op, they just cost 10 pp and give enough equipment that you can outfit your entire army with just purchased equipment, so the fact that you might have +200% consumer goods from debt is irrelevant. Not to mention stacking enough consumer goods reductions with a good economy law will mean your massive debt doesn't even really cripple your economy that much.
As for sultans, you have 4 options (you can trust me, i spent last 2 weeks playing exclusively Ottoman Empire in TGWR with my friend) Abdulmecid - some general buffs to stability, pp gain, some construciton factories - weak af Yusuf Izzedin - buffs to army and attack (a lot of buffs, but quite weak) - mid af Ahmed Nihad - out of the three available when you Intervene in the Elections, he used to be the best due to sheer amount of fucking buffs for industry this guy has, but since they nerfed Ottoman Empire to start with 12 factories instead of 48, usually it's too late to reap the benefits of this guy and the best one as of now: Abdulhamid II (the face from the first political focus) - if you go for coup instead of intervening, you can get this guy - he gets +2500 WEEKLY manpower on top of some other nice buffs, and more importantly - it allows you to go down the Shadow of Allah on Earth route, which enables you to instantly remove Sick man of Europe, and the best part - instantly default on debt (which means, you can get the focuses to spam factories via decisions, push your national debt to something like 500-600%, and then just default on debts and have a functional and VERY STRONG economy). The only problem with this guy is the fact that coup route gives you much more penalties early on, and you'll have problems with stability until 1915.
Abd-ul-Hamid is overrated but he's the best bet we can ask for. For Balkan War how many men you lost? I lost ±160k and beat 367k. Wonder why you suggest Abd-ul-Hamid
The howitzers may not be amazing early game, but if I'm not mistaken, they scale mid to late game, and become much better than normal artillery. I always use them when I play this mod and usually the result is great. Unless things have changed recently. It's been a while since I last played it.

As a Texan Ottoman I would love if the next bit was added though; In early August 1914, Churchill commandeered Sultan Osman and Reşadiye - two battleships bought by the Ottomans from Vickers and Armstrong. 500 Turkish troops had arrived in a steamer at Newcastle on Tyne to sail the ships home, when Churchill made this last minute decision to grab them for the British fleet. This decision - deemed ‘British treachery’ - came with no promise of compensation and helped sway the Turkish people in favour of siding with Germany. new patch just came in, and sultan paths became a little bit weaker. but at least they fixed broken decisions mechanics
