@Simp Nation Well yeah if you’re talking cylinder numbers then I think it’s safe to say that an I6 will always sound better than an I4 regardless of it’s aspiration. But there is much more to a turbocharger than just the sound. The whole reason why manufacturers add turbochargers/superchargers to their engines is to squeeze more air into the combustion chamber using either the wasted mechanical power from exhaust gasses, or a relatively small torque from the crankshaft in the case of a supercharger. Turbocharging is both an efficient and effective method to increase the high-end power output of smaller engines, and I believe the WRC homologations at the time had a limit on the maximum displacement of 2 liters which really limited what you could do with a NASP engine. And more air obviously means more boom. Turbocharging engines is usually an easier and much cheeper method than going for a NASP high-displacement build. So with that being said, if you think turbocharged engines aren’t for real enthusiasts, sorry but you’re delusional. You can have your opinion on the sound and to be honest I would agree with you, but at the end of the day that’s not why manufacturers/enthusiasts fit turbos in the first place...

But this doesnt show in laptimes or 0-100 times compared to modern cars. Its a feeling inside thecar that many modern cars dont give you. With many modern cars you dont feel the acceleration even if its faster. Also the steering with modern cars feels like the car drives itself and not so engaging and fun like with old cars.
