We are back with10th episode of Switzerland tourism video. This time we are covering Zermatt to Lucerne train journey by the most panoramic route of Switzerland.

Zermatt in Switzerland is a popular ski resort. It's famous for its 4,478 m high mountain 'Matterhorn'. After spending a day in Zermatt we are now travelling to Luzern.
The shortest route to reach Lucern is via Bern.
But we have decided to take the famous Panoramic train Glacier express to Andermatt and then Gotthard bahn Voralpen-Express to Lucern, so that we can enjoy the incredible scenery on our way.
Glacier express is one of the most popular panoramic train in switzerland which runs on very scenic route and connects 2 famous ski resorts Zermatt and Saint Morritz.
This train is known as the slowest express train as it covers journy of 291 km in little less then 8 hours.
It stoppes at Brig, Andermatt, Disentis and khur on the route.
Glacier express is most costly train in terms of cost of per km journey.
💲 It cost 152 swiss franc for a second class ticket and 268 swiss franc for a first class ticket for full length of journey.
If you have swiss travel pass then journey is covered in this train.
Apart from train ticket, you also have to reserve a seat in advance,
💲 which costs additionally 39 franc or 49 franc depends on the length of the journey.
This seat reaservation is mandatory and not covered in swiss travel pass.
Trains from Andermatt to Goschenen is in every 30 minutes and takes about 15 minutes to reach.
Goschenen is on the north portal of Gotthard tunnel from here we will take Gotthard bahn Voralpen-Express to Luzern.
based on the timing you reach here, you can either get direct train to Luzern or you have to change train from Arth Goldeau.

Hi Can I use the Saver Day Pass on Glacier express? It shows 52€, if I purchase one ticket in 2 months in advance without the half fare discount card! Now, I learned I have to pay for seat reserevation too. How do I reserve the seat. I don't see any option in any sites. Please suggest.
Train ticket will be included however you still have to pay for seat reservation.. Plz check official websites for more details
good scenic route and great coverage. I must say you guys were really so lucky to have the trains to yourself and enjoy a crowd free travel. BTW, may I ask where are you guys living. My guess is Western Europe.

Hi! Our base city is Lucerne, what is the best route for glacier express?
It's a bit difficult to travel in Glacier Express as day trip from Lucerne.
You can try from the Andermatt to Brig section or opposite.
Really nice video but I want to ask one thing that if we are traveling two people so we have to buy two swiss travel pass or one
Travel pass is basically your ticket, so every individual should have their own travel pass.. i.e. One stp per person.
