    For the sake of the people who admire and are proud of our SAS soldiers, and western civilization in particular, can you please stop the criticism? I read people criticising for giving away secrets and the rest complaining that it was all made up. Do you see how stupid you all look? You can't have it both ways. Of course he is limited by what he can tell us! Similarly, he has clearly stated he is protecting the people who are working for the SAS now, not himself, because he worked undercover in Northern Ireland. Micheal Asher is either a liar or a fool and he's never spilt blood for England.

    • @PaddyInf
      @PaddyInf 4 года назад

      To be fair it tells it like Asher says it was. Ashers conclusions were based on 'eye witness accounts' that were conveniently easy to locate, discussing events from decades earlier and under supervision and direction of the Iraqi security forces.
      McNab is full of crap, but I wouldn't take Ashers documentary as being incontrovertible. I suspect the truth sits somewhere in the middle.

    In hindsight we can all call names, the truth is they were behind enemy lines doing a job that they had little training to do, however wrong it went. It is true that their story has been ripped apart not only by the Regiment, Micheal Asher but by their own "Boss", but would a normal boring book get the sales, I think not! Remember there are countless books out there full of inaccuracies and hyped up to tell a story and called non fiction, do we rip them apart, NO, the reasons we do with this one, is because it was the first major conflict since Korea and was used as a media tool post the conflict and because we had done very little since Op Corporate 9 years earlier. There are many who worked for all types of "Agencies" in Northern Ireland and other countries that do not exploit anonymity, but this just adds to the scope of the book and increases its' sales so used as sales tool although not employed by "Chris Ryan". Lastly, how many of us have exaggerated a story in the past to give it more impact, I would like to ask @Saul Ted did you enjoy the read before you knew that 90% was fiction and I suggesting by your comments that you did, it accomplished its task!

    Watch Michael Asher's film The Real Bravo Two Zero before buying any books from this "hero". Also check out the statements of fellow Bravo Two Zero members or the SAS's Regimental Sergeant Major at the time, Peter Ratcliffe. I'm not saying the ordeal the Bravo Two Zero members went through wasn't worth the medals. But when someone claims a kill ratio only plausible in Battlefield 3 (8 soldiers causing more than 200 enemy casualties in just a few days) some fact check might be necessary.

    The guys a liar with the majority of his story telling but when he said their next of kins needed therapy more than them it's true.
    Dinger is my uncle and I remember the night we found out something had gone wrong, we was all sat in my nana and grandads house, my auntie - dingers wife (obviously cant mention her name) and the rest of the adults was sobbing their hearts out, at the time I was only 9 years old and when I asked why everyone was crying all they said to me was "Uncle Dinger is lost on a helicopter and no one knows where he is" .... obviously I knew he was a soldier but at that time I didnt know he was SAS or that he was in Iraq and they wasnt going to tell a 9 year old that Dinger could be dead or captured ....
    It's only as I got older I realised what had happened.... it's funny because I've spent a lot of time in his company when we go and stay at their house but I never mention it, I want to ask him so much but it's like an unsaid rule ... just dont f*cking ask because he would never tell me anything, the only thing hes ever said to me that's related to the army was when he used to tell me to join up when I was younger but I couldn't, it wasnt for me, I didnt want that to be my mum sobbing her heart out worrying if I was dead or alive in a warzone, I respect him, hes one of my heroes, I respect anyone that serves but nah not for me even though I've always been fascinated by the military and wars.
    I'll just stick to firing his shotgun in his field as he lobs rocks over my head as targets 😄
