The Northwest 747...N601US shown in this video is now displayed at the Air and Space museum on the mall in DCA. I flew that aircraft for NWA from all 3 seats...as a flight engineer then as a first officer and finally as Captain.
I was a flight attendant in Boston during this period of time and fondly remember flying all of the jets that were pictured in this video. Thanks for the great memories!
Thank you for posting this video. It brought back many memories. I began my career with NWA in 1982 in reservations in Los Angeles, Tampa, and Detroit. I had a 23 years run with the company and I cherish those years.
I flew Northwest to the very end and they were the best airline. I miss the company as a whole and the old aircraft and liveries. I never had a bad experience on that airline. When there was a problem they’d fix it immediately. I always enjoyed the friendly faces of the flight attendants and the captain greeting you on the plane, and saying goodbye. I miss you NWA!
I remember when I was a teenager living in NYC, in Queens, next to then Idlewild Airport, soon to become JFK International Airport, Northwest Airlines was known as Northwest Orient, and all their planes were really beautiful.
747's were used for European routes; London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Copenhagen. I was employed by NW as a reservations supervisor in the Tampa office during this time. Can't believe that my first day with Northwest was 35 years ago!
This video was apparently made during the middle of Northwest's livery change, I see how some planes had the newer design with circle N on the tails and others still had the older all red tails.
Wow nearly 30 years ago..I'm from London so I don't know if this airline is still active. Nice memories for the people who are familiar with it though. ♥️🇬🇧
looks basically the same as now..cars get a lot different..many of these may still be flying..that 757 must be very new?..and wondering why the switch from back engines to wing mounted.??. fuel my guess?.. thanks for your vids
JustPlanes.......you've come a long way in your videography. And that's a good thing. I can't watch this old stuff. So herky-jerky. I had to stop watching after the 747 landing at 3:15...
That Northwest Orient livery was SO boring and out of place, looked like unfinish, it had no theme whatsoever....the "bowling show livery was beautifiul thou

I really miss Northwest...the "bowling shoe" livery was my favourite though, and it was so cool even to see Orient chrome planes still flying :)

Good old footage! Thank you for sharing :)
I wish now that I had flown on Northwest. I LOVED the DC-10 and I think that Northwest operated them through 2006.
I miss Northwest so much. Great footage!

Type of model at 2:20?
Boeing 757-251
A D B7572
A D are you serious?
A D it's a Boeing 727. Your talking about the NWA aircraft right?
That what I thought a 752 but the paint made it look older for a new bird.
I loved working Northwest in Boston while I was at Marriott/CaterAir.
We miss Northwest in Memphis Tn., Delta finished off the airline and this airport. Very sad what happened to good folks after the buyout.
Great Video! Love Those Red Tails!
Where did they fly the 747's to from there?

I wonder if it is nostalgia or just a good logo design but the red tail / mostly silver hull was the best looking by far
I loved the new livery with the leftover Meatball Logo u would see from time to time
Little one was in a hurry in the start.
Unfortunately that livery always looked really dirty even when clean.
Boy , I miss working, them red tails
GOOD OLD NORTHWEST ^^

I really hated when Northwest merged with Delta, another great airline gone.
First?
The paint jobs on these old planes suck
Greendragon420able at least it's a beauty
