After visiting Paris and Emmanuel Macron, Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic said that there are plans to buy 12 of the most modern Rafale jets. According to Vucic. The deal is supposed to be made in 2 months with a hefty price of almost 3 billion euros.
The Dassault Rafale F4, the latest iteration of the renowned multi-role fighter aircraft, stands poised to redefine aerial warfare with its suite of advanced upgrades and enhancements. Anticipated improvements encompass a spectrum of capabilities, including enhanced sensors, avionics, and weapon systems, all geared towards maintaining superiority in modern combat scenarios. With upgraded connectivity and networking capabilities, the F4 variant promises seamless integration into network-centric operations, bolstering interoperability with allied platforms. Moreover, an anticipated enhancement to its radar system augments detection and tracking capabilities, ensuring heightened situational awareness. Coupled with potential advancements in weaponry and munitions, the Rafale F4 is primed to offer unparalleled versatility and lethality, accommodating a wide array of missions with increased operational flexibility. As sustainability and lifecycle management take center stage, the F4 variant aims to optimize maintenance requirements and operational costs, ensuring sustained readiness and reliability.

Serbia needs to sign the contract first. Serbia still hasn't signed anything. The other issue for Serbia will be if they have to borrow the 3 billion Euros how are they going to finance that and what interest rate will they pay.
1) no armament or the army investment in Serbia are from 'borrowed money "
2) if those Rafales are coming far till 2030, 3billions are no big deal for Serbia by far '

Serbia does not have to borrow any money for this purchase because it has more than 4 billions euros spare on financial accounts. Four spare billions. Plus those aircrafts will not be paid at once, and Serbia have a large annual surplus to pay this and the lot of more armament.

I looked it up. Serbia posted a budget surplus of 5.3 billion Dinars so when you convert that to Euros its 45.2 million Euros. These planes are going to cost Serbia 3 billion Euro.
So where is the money to buy the planes coming from?

It is nonsense to buy new "Rafales", which must be inferior to the Croatian, second-hand ones, because Croatia is in NATO. All military analyzes in Serbia show only one thing, and that is that in the near and medium term, the only threat to Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity comes from NATO. Anyone who thinks that Serbia will clash with: Afghanistan, Iran, China, Russia, etc., during that period, is in favor of hospital treatment. Therefore, France, whether someone wants to admit it or not, is an enemy for Serbia. And arming oneself from the enemy is foolishness, which in war is paid for with heads. By the way, even when France used to be a "friend" of Serbia, big problems arose, especially with the supply of weapons and ammunition. In continuation of the above, another foolishness, which is that only a fool can repeat the same mistake twice. The price itself is 3 billion. dollars, or euros, it doesn't matter, is only a part of the insane figure that would have to be paid for such an adventure, starting with the conversion of the entire support system, up to the delivery of combat kits and spare parts, and even that is the question of what the "manufacturer" will do for you " deliver. The only meaning of this "procurement" is Vučić's collapsed rating in the West, which the people of Serbia, for the umpteenth time, have to pay extra for.
That is flawed thinking, entire world is going trough a massive geopolitical change, and what west and NATO once were won't be true in just couple of years. Those countries that were enemies of Serbia won't be able to sustain themselves let alone impose political will on others and even less wage wars that got nothing to do with them. And some of their weapons are great, I'd personally prefer Chinese planes in this situation but whatever ... time is working in Serbian favor this time around. Also those planes can be exchanged in the future for something else or spare parts bought from other friendly countries like India or Egypt.

Serbia will never get a weapon from NATO that could threaten any NATO member, or if it does, it will be certain that NATO will have a response to it. You can get a lot more for that money in the east. Nothing for those "Rafales" can be obtained from a "third" party countries, without a permit from the country of manufacture. Even then, repaired aircraft engines could not be obtained from a "friendly" country, and this will not be possible in any future conflict either.There are only countries that have an interest. Serbia's experiences with NATO aggression show that it was not even able to develop air defense. What worked very well was the anti-aircraft defense. If the basic (and only) function of that aircraft is "air policing", then it is certainly for a much cheaper aircraft. The rest of the money should be invested in the development or import of anti-aircraft weapons. Such a purchase is directly contrary to the country's interests and directly threatens its defense capability in the long term, which is prosecuted by law. The amount of this purchase will not be less than 6 billion dollars and it ties the air defense as a whole to the NATO member, which is crazy considering the constant threat to the territorial integrity of Serbia by that organization.

In couple of months we will know if they signed the contract and when planes are supposed to come and then we will see if they will deliver them in couple of years. As for parts and manufacturers permission, ask your self how many countries asked Russian manufacturers for delivering parts and weapons to Ukraine.
that's not a problem, Croatia can install its own on F4 and F5, the commander of the air force told us not to worry about it, the F4 won't arrive until 2030 because they have a lot of orders, and Croatia will buy a modern medium-range anti-aircraft system by then, so who's talking they don't know who to attack, it's surrounded by NATO countries and there's nowhere to go, even if they want to attack someone, they can't even go to Kosovo, nothing about Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, let's not talk about it, nobody needs war, they need to be economically strengthened so that people live better, they have as much so many normal salaries and that we don't feel empty countries because what is the territory worth if there are no people.
@user-eh9wz7kb4e Serbia has confirmed that the Rafales in the deal are of the F4 standard (it's newest variant), with an AESA radar as opposed to the older croatian F3R's which have a PESA radar
They should order wooden models of Rafale as well, simply to prepare themselves for the war :) That is what they usually do with their fighter planes. Make wooden copies and hide real planes underground...

Serbians are not stupid, french optronics and radar are way better. Russian tanks optronic was french, China doesn't even build is own jets motors, they depend of russia and actually russia have some industrial problems, too much needs for russian army. And rafale is the best multirole fighter by far. etc.

Why didn't Croatia put a clause in their contract for their Rafales that France is not allowed to sell any fighter jets to Serbia?
It’s great to have allies but Croatia should never make themselves 100% reliant on other countries just incase their left on their own.

@@josiprakovac3284 Naravno da cemo ih se resiti jer im resurs istice 2030te, za obnovu i ugradnju novih motora moraju da lete u Rusiju, za to smo prosli put koristili Ukrajinsku transportnu avijaciju, jer nam NATO nije dao prelet, pa su morali da idu u delovima, Ukrajina vise nema avijaciju iz Kine ima poteskoca jer NATO mora da dozvoli prelet strane vojne avijacije, ako narucujes njihovo tih problema nema. Samo ne znam sta ce Ukrajini 29tke, imaju ih i Rusi i Ukrajinci, ali ih ne koriste, ocigledno su kante cim ih nisu ni jednom podigli, ni jedni ni drugi...

They will be out of commission due to age starting from 2028 to 2033, depending on individual plane. The time has ran its course and Serbia has to replace them. Perhaps if they don't use them as much they might push the time a little bit but that would cause other problems.
Serbia stolen everything from Yugoslav army in 90s.. This is the first time they are actually buying something valuable. So, must be confusing experience for them :)

Serbia has been diversifying weapons since 19th century that is nothing new, it is something both kingdom of Yugoslavia and later Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia continued. Also Serbia is quite small so it has to buy certain things it can't make everything like China, Russia or USA. People who are trying to make an argument that Serbia is close to Russia or west because it buys something from than are just grasping at straws its a fallacy, it has everything to do with size of the country and its ability to produce tools for defending its independence and ability to get supply's in case of emergency or sanctions from one supplier. Like in the case until recently west didn't want to sell anything to Serbia and as of recently Russia can't sell anything to Serbia.

@@Armo_12 Србији нуклеарна електрана уопште није потребна. Та "потреба" је настала модом "декарбонизације" који је започет у ЕУ и довео да идиотске одлуке да је енергија из атома постала "зелена" ! Само идиот, или будала која је преспавала Фукушиму, може да гради НЕ на трусном подручју. Уз то Немци их масовно затварају, толико да су се у ери "санкциоманије", када нису ни имали чиме да подрже сопствени енергетски биланс, пре одлучили да поново упале ТЕ. У Србији је Уставом забрањена изграња НЕ. Све, технолошки много развијеније земље, су редом имале озбиљне инциденте са НЕ, почев од "Острва три миље" САД, "Чернобиља" СССР, "Фукушиме" Јапан, "Селафилд"-а УК,... итд. Уз то, у ранијем периоду забележени су и инциденти у Кршком и низу земаља које су на далеко нижем технолошком нивоу. На Флориди је већ изловљена риба са озбиљно повећаним радио фоном, узроковано првобитним загађењем воде из Фукушиме. Уз то Јапанци су већ почели изливање "пречишћене" воде којом су хитно гашени нуклеарни реактори. Од силног "здравља" по околину многе земље су забраниле увоз рибе и морских плодова из Јапана. Милиони тона такве воде ће бити пуштени у океан. Кажу да ће озраченост бити око 62 бекерела по литру. За живота човека, а и много дуже, радијација се само кумулира. Сваки човек индивидуално има свој праг, и настаје канцер. При чему је ДНК уништен бесповратно. Колико год некога плашио угљеник, за његово чишћење се може изразити износ, може се урадити рачуница. За радијацију то не постоји. Она се може само премештати са једног места на друго. Земље на Балкану су толико велике да једноставно немају простора да обаве евакуацију типа Чернобила, или Фукушиме. Просто, би сви морали ван, у иностранство, а ко ће тамо кога примити ? Хрватска свој нуклеарни отпад складишти у бившој касарни у Черкизовцу, Трговска гора, уз границу БиХ. Бетонски контејнери радијационе опасности за све. Уз ову воду из Јапана, која ће ускоро, ако већ није, доћи до свих светских мора и океана, хтели или не, стављена је крстача и на "лијепу вашу". Србија има још мало шансе да се не поведе за оваквом будалаштином, насталом пре свега некритичким путем у ЕУ. Тај новац употребити у савршеније електростатичке филтере на ТЕ, знатно порадити на пошумљавању,..итд., .и имате шта оставити покољењима. Не идеално, али им остаје. За загађењем планете јонизујућим зрачењем нисте им оставили ништа, осим да траже другу, сличну планету.
