Just watching his reactions to things are so cool. He's keeping looking at his opponent to gauge his reaction, and I have to say he is really something to watch that is for sure. The way he changes his expressions is hilarious. I don't know if he is being frustrated or expressing what in the name of a move is that concerning his opponent. No matter I suppose, his expressions are priceless.
he visualizes it inside his head most likely, most best chess players do, it comes in part with being able to process hundreds of moves in your head within seconds, the processing of this makes you able to visualize it

Best move for the coach and probably a winning move at 8:19 of this film would be to move the rook on the E file all the way to E8 putting the king in check and threatening the queen. Move the K out of the way and win the Q, or take the rook with the queen then white moves the knight to F6 forking Q and K.

if you are familiar with the game (i am not of chess, but other games i relate), then you dont need to stare at the actual layout. you know which area is stagnate and which are the possible moves. personally, it helps me to maneuver the image than having to rely on the physical reference. of course you have to be familiar with the game before you do that. i am not of chess, but of other games i do this. maybe simplest example is knowing how to do arithmetic in your head vs pen and paper or calculator.
This kid's flaw is his low attention span, this can be noticed starting at 10:42 where he lost his pawn after making multiple errors with horse unit while he could have moved his tower unit to keep the pawn protected

i hate that when the match ends his opponentes never give him the pieces and he is the first thing he does, very good etiquette by him and something to learn for the others
I have been watching several matches of this young player, he seems distracted but he’s not as his opponent is the clock not the player. However the young player does have chess skills

very much impressive this boy attitude. just ignore the opponent you can take your own time. i already predicted your move and as well mine to beat you. awesome.

The little boy would do better by looking at the board constantly rather than trying to intimidate by looking around the room and seeming bored.
You'd do better trying to explain how the natural behaviour of a 5-year-old can be considered intimidating to an adult.
