    I have a 2003 C5 corvette in my garage. A few years back I was making a deal for a trade for a C6 ZR1. It was selling for 52k with low miles. I kick myself for not pulling the trigger those ZR1 C6 blew up in price drastically.

      That's funny. I did the opposite. In 2014 I bought an 09 Z06 for a fair price. Did the whole Husband, Father life, and thought it was my time for a car/re-live my youth thing again. But instantly felt guilty for being somewhat selfish, even though we could afford it. Now I'm so damn happy looking at that shiny beast in my garage! Often you don't know how life will play out. This time I was lucky. Wishing you some luck to bud. Be patient another chance will come.

    Purchased a 2008 coupe last month from original owner. Car had 4068 miles on it. Atomic orange color, automatic, Z51, both tops and black interior. Car is all original, no mods, and not a paint scratch or chip anywhere. Runs and drives great. This is the 10th Corvette I have owned. Sold my C7 in July, 7 speed vert with 10800 miles.

    I had 2 C5's. A 99 and an Anniversary 03. Both rode and drove about the same. Still love the styling of the C5 ----that is until I drove a C6. That all changed. I still have an 07 C6 Z51 3LT 6speed manual with HUD, and the magnetic ride for cruise or sport mode. It's LBM and black interior - rare combination. The car is just an absolute pleasure to drive. Most disbelieve I can consistently get 29MPG on the highway at 75 MPH with tach at ~1500. No crappy run-flat tires and this car handles like a beast. It's 15 yrs old with under 40K miles and every drive is an adventure. Both solid and clear Targa top. The difference in engineering between the 5 and 6 is light years ahead. Best vette yet. I know I could get what I paid for it (was 2 yrs old when I got it) almost anyday, but it's *not* for sale, so a moot point. Damn sure can't go wrong on the C6's

    Recently got my father in law a C6 Grand Sport, couldn't resist the wide body appeal. But if you don't care about that too much, the base vette performs about the same on the street and the 8-10k you save over a GS can buy a lot of mods to set it apart, like wheels that suit your taste.

    • @metaljew4456
      @metaljew4456 2 года назад +4

      You forgot about the GS Z06 suspension, brakes, wheel size, dry sump oiling.

    • @6mtzhp55

      @@metaljew4456 didn't forget them, got them actually (though I think the brakes and ZR1 spoiler may have been options, on our 3LT with dual mode exhaust, not standard GS). But to be honest we got it for the looks - on the street, those Z06 brakes just feel like good brakes, since he doesn't dump a lot of heat into them since he doesn't do the track. They do look awesome and really fill up the wheels though!

    My 2011 carbon fiber/chrome package, with 600hp compliments of Late Model Racecraft, gets 40mpg at 60mph on flat road, not to mention I've found few seats more comfortable for long trips. It's depressing because it's so good, but I want something more utilitarian and after picking up a motorcycle... Sports cars just aren't the same and can't really compete for daily thrill riding. Only 40k miles on it and it's truly been reliable in every capacity. Solid review. One of the last great cars of a dying breed. It's a love / hate relationship.

    Great car for what it is.... Just before the Plandemic, I picked up an '05 LS2 Z51 in perfect condition with 32K miles for $20G, and that already had a bunch of upgrades on it like Kooks headers, X-pipe, Corsa axle-back, intake, Kenwood head unit, LED lights, etc, etc. I've since installed MGW shifter and went with cam/heads package, and I'm still in WAY less than prices are currently for bone stock units. While I think they are still a bit inflated due to the car market, I don't think they're going to come back to where they were. The drift crowd has definitely caught on to these, and people are waking up to the fact that with EV's making headway, cars like this are not going to be available anymore and they're going to get snatched up.

    Why do people always say the ls3 has more reliability? The only big issue with ls2 is the harmonic balancers which the ls3s also suffer from. Anything else the ls2 is more reliable since the ls3 can have cracked cylinder sleeves and timing chain issues which the ls2 has none of those issues.

    • @running2redline
      @running2redline  6 месяцев назад

      I think it’s less about the LS2 being poor and more about how good the LS3 is. I think realistically, HB aside the LS2 isn’t much worse. The LS3 has just been widely known as the most reliable LS because of how they perform while built and how many are out there with 300k+ miles. I trusted the LS2 enough to buy one myself, and don’t think the discrepancy is major. I’ve also heard the HB problem is by far the most common on the LS2.

I haven’t heard much about the LS3 getting it other than rare occasions. But if you think that you found the right car then go for it and just check it before buying and periodically. If it starts to wobble the change to aftermarket isn’t a huge issue. Good luck with your purchase, I hope you find a great car.

      Most of them with respectable mileage run between 25-30k USD right now. You can find them for 25 but a little negotiation might provide even more options!

    They are not the best value! 30k for a 2007 is a rip off, these things were 16k just 4 years ago. I regret selling mine. 30k for this is not a deal.

    Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
    from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
    Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by
    reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated
    central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down
    all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From
    2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as
    exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox
    oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no
    investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even
    created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. :-(!!!

      It’s a shame. I do think it will be an uphill battle for them to get used cars off the road. Only the future will tell but we can hope! Thanks for watching

    That's not a c6 zo6 they never made any with a targa top and the c6 zo6 had the 427 LS7 not the much lower powered LS2, This guy is whacked out!!

    Honestly, the C6 is one of the ugliest Vettes along with the C4. The soft front headlights and exaggerated rear tail lights instantly make it look goofy. I'm a Corvette guy but the C4 and C6 are the ugly ducklings of the Vette world. In the end, most people love all Corvettes so it's not that bad. I've owned a C3, C4 ZR1, C5Z, C6 ZR1, C7 Z06 and currently a C8 Z51.

      While not the biggest fan of the C4 look, I’ll defer to one of the most watched C6 videos on RUclips, from “Drlvehub” when he states, while addressing the changes made from the C6 to the C7: “All Corvettes look good”.

    • @benedictdonald4338
      @benedictdonald4338 Год назад

      The C4 is the lamest looking generation, imo. The C8s are somewhat awkward, as well. Best looking generation:
      C2, C6, C3.

    • @PrimePrius
      @PrimePrius Год назад

      @@benedictdonald4338 I would argue that the C4 ZR1 is a notch above C6 ZR1 in beauty because of it's sheer race car esque design. C6 headlights and tail lights could have been executed better for a more timeless design. Side profile of C6 looks good in Z06 or ZR1 trims but they took shortcuts in design. They veered far off from the beautiful concept. The bean counters won that day. C7 and C8 improved things at the expense of heritage design. What a shame.

      @@PrimePrius I appreciate that you have owned a few different models of Corvettes and everyone has their favorite model, but I went to look at images of the C4 ZR1 and the C6 ZR1 and I prefer the C6 ZR1 by a wide margin. Not say that the C6 is the best Vette or the best driving Vette, but I think it is one of the best looking. My preferences buy model for looks are: C1, C6/C7, C8.
