Owned 8 mustangs including a 2003 Cobra. I would say the 03 Cobra and C5 Z06 were the best bang for the buck until the GS came out. I’ve wanted one for several years and finally got a 2011 m6 car in January and love every minute of it

Saw the license plate my fellow South Cackalacky friend. We live on the South Carolina Coast, great vid. Have a 2007 C6 Z51 3LT Atomic Orange original owner 11k miles great car. Just sold the same exact car except for the color ( black ) which was my daily. 65k miles when sold. 2 of the best cars I have ever owned. Also have a 96 coupe Z51 and a 95 convertible with factory hard top both mint with with less than 35k miles. And my pride and joy my 64 StingRay L76 Motor 327 / 365hp Close ratio Muncie 4 speed, all documented, all original and all matching numbers, fun to drive but old school for sure. Love me some Vettes ! C6 is the best car for the money and a blast to drive. My stock C6 is about 4.2 secs 0-60 My 2019 Scat Pack Chally is 4.5 0-60 but then again it's a tank. Just subbed...

Sold my 2000 Porsch Boxter 3.2L loved it, for a 2011 C6 Convertible LS3 Auto with paddles, love it, fits me better.

Sold my 13' C6 GS for a 13' Camaro 1LE. The Corvette was a good car but the 1LE is just more fun to throw around or just cruise with. I believe the weight advantage, brakes ans center of gravity of the Vette make it the better performer on the track and more nimble but damn it, the 1LE is just amazing. Best thing I can say is the GS felt robotic. The 1LE feels like something with a soul. Handling is better on the Vette but steering feel goes to the 1LE. I may look into purchasing a 2014 or 2015 Z/28 next time. The nurburgring time on those is incredible. However, I have a soft spot for the LS3 and TR6060 combo.
Visibility is outstanding in a C6 versus any Camaro. I do not like sitting down blow the doors on the dash and I’m 6-1 lol
I sold my base C6 awhile back with intentions of getting a C6 GS or Z06. My wife kind of persuaded me to get a C7 GS 3LT with manual 7 speed! I’m sure glad she nudged me in that direction! Lol! Your GS is beautiful 👍 Keep enjoying it!

Bought my wife's (then fiancée) dad a C6 GS. Only complaint about it was rhe floormats were missing. Bought those same "Grand Sport" Lloyd Mats before I even bought the car. I used Lloyds in my old BMWs and they looked and held up great, same with the C6GS mats.

I have a C7 Grand Sport 3LT coupe with auto in Blade Silver, and I love it. That said, the C6 Grand Sport has a big place in my heart. In fact, I just nearly bought one in Crystal Red before I bought the one I have. The C6 is the sweetest mix of Corvette heritage and modern sports car. Sometimes I see them around and wonder if I bought the right Vette 😂
Such a good car, but the C7 is no joke! I love the look of the C7 in Silver or Black. Might be my favorite in terms of looks.

It’s a great choice! I looked for several months before settling on this one. I still say “settled” because I didn’t want red, but find a GS in good shape with lower miles was tough.

I have a 06 base car and it's my third. Had a 06 Z51 convertible, then a 06 Z06. They are all great. The Z06 was an insane machine and honestly a bit much for a daily. That car is so much more focused for the track. But the sound. My god! It had the bypass switch and it was like riding shotgun with Satan. Such a badass. The Z51 was nice but I found the ride a bit stiff and the brakes, although bigger, didn't feel much different then my current base car. The current car has the ride control and with it set to Tour it is by far the nicest ride. Just went and did a grocery run and now my wife is out cruising around in it! A very friendly, approachable, car. The GS is my next one!

Just bought a 2012 three days ago, torch red, fantastic cashmere interior, 2LT, 27k miles, completely stock, clean as a whistle. Has looks that kill inside and out, along with power to spare. It corners flat like it's riding on rails, and goes as fast as I want to go. The C6 GS gets the Z51 package, including beefier suspension, brakes, coolers, etc., with reliable and exhilarating 6.2 base engine--a true sweet spot. It can't be beat on aesthetics. It's the last model that looks like a traditional Vette, and has targa top. No magnetic ride suspension on mine, but one less thing to go wrong (I have a version of it on another GM vehicle and when it fails--as those things do--each corner is pricey). Mine's an automatic with paddle shifters. Plan to use it as a kind of three-season GT car for a 400 mile return commute I do once a week. People like to complain about the interior, but I love it. It's straightforward, easy to reach and understand, with just enough curves to be sensuous. I'm adding a simple wireless backup camera this week; other than that, I don't think I'll add anything beyond a decent radar detector. Even the head unit, while primitive, has USB input and bluetooth. I was going to swap it out for a CarPlay unit, but I I've changed my mind and will leave it for now. Bose sound is fantastic, far better than I expected.

@@tyshaun3966 In my area, clean, low-mileage versions of the GS seem to be selling for high 30s, which is a bit of a drop-off from late last year. My sense is anything less than that would be a real deal. That's for the late production 2012/13 models.

You can find Bases for 18K on Craig's but they are Trashed!

I have a 2012 crystal red metallic grand sport and the body style is absolutely beautiful. You get real corvette brake lights and a body style with the perfect mix of old school retro and modern styling in vehicles. The value is unbeatable. The handling is amazing, the more is satisfactory, and the reliability is great. Paid 29k for 76,000 miles automatic but it’s in perfect condition

I gotta agree just bought a 13 GS 60th anniversary, silver stripe on arctic white with diamond blue guts. 4LT. I needed an auto (knee),the manual is the one for performance though. It was hard to find and pricey but buy once , cry once. I guess my old 96 LT4 will have to go.

Traded my base 2014 C7 for a 2012 Grand Sport... And haven't looked back. I don't miss the lame camaro-looking tail lights, the numb steering or the lack of overall feedback the car gave me. Back in a 24K mile GS, the car is VISCERAL, animalistic, and just feels like a Corvette. Sorry Vaughn...

I'd love to argue with you but I can't.. Been saving up for a S550 mustang for a little while thinking it was the best bang for your buck car to get because I love best bang for your buck stuff hahaa. anyway a new coworker of mine has a c6 vette and we were debating mustang vs older vette and he won me over and my eyes have been opened to this awesome machine. Now on the mission to track down one of these C6 rigs and am looking forward to getting one sometime soon they seem like a ton ton of fun for the money.. :) but I still get t love for the stang I ain't forget about you baby lol

a S550 Coyote 10 speed or even the short bed reg cabs F150 4x4 10 speed coyotes are arguably the best bang for the buck when it comes to drag,dig, and roll racing out of all the modern used stuff. However, where the C6 Grand Sport out shines the Coyotes is handling. If you're into canyon/mountain runs, track days, autocross, road courses, or just taking corners pretty fast it makes sense to go with the Vette. Also, the hatch makes it surprisingly practical unlike most fast 2 seater sports cars. Also, the wow factor. The C6 wide body cars still look new and people think they are way more expensive and exotic than they really are. I really enjoy my C6 Grand Sport & think it was well worth the money. You just will have to deal with plain outdated interior & expensive tires....

I've driven my 2013 Grand Sport across the country twice. While the seats are comfortable they suck for performance driving (I have the upgraded model year seats). Also, the leaf springs and dampener combo from the factor is just too soft. Highly recommend the Johnny O'Connel C5/C6 stage 1 kit (Tuned Z06 re-valved dampeners, big beefy sway bars and end links, adjustable rear bar). Made my car handle like a super car on the stock leaf springs. Or you save weight by going with a set of coil overs with the same handling and performance benefits . Also, think both are a similar price range since the Johnny O'Connel kit jumped up in price substantially.

I just bought an 09 zo6 about 2 months ago and I absolutely love it. I've seen a lot of these videos about the c6 being everyone's favorite vettte and am just curious as to why people like it more than the 7? I understand the title of the video as value but it seems to be more than just value. Just curious.
Its a good question. I think it does have a lot to do with value. The C7 is a lot of car, but in general still more expensive than the C6 without massive performance upgrades. I love the look of the C7, but I think a lot of people view the C6 as the last "real" corvette.

A lot of the negatives of the C6 Grand Sport were addressed in the C7. I think in a few years the C7 GS will be the ultimate best bang for your buck
have been searching for ultra low mile C6 ultra low miles, less than 20K, but cant find a super clean one any where for less than 40K. Also depends on the color too. Reds tend to go for more. Carvana, CarMax which may their issues, but i can return it, if I find out its been wrecked or has mechanical issues, but their C6 Grand Sports are expensive! A local GM dealer has one, Red 16K miles, mint with new run flats all around, wont let it go for a penny under 46K, plus tax! I offered them 43, they said no and it was sold for 45,500 2 days later.
For the record, Grand Sport convertible is a 6 quart wet sump.

Is your oil pressure always that high or the engine is still cold? Or it’s even normal?
Mine reaches to 70 when is cold, but later comes down below 40 ,
Oil pressure is is that high when cold/cool. After warmed up it idles around 40 snd will go up to 70ish when accelerating
I wonder how well those Yokohama Apex tires perform.
So far so good! We’ll really find out when it starts to warm up but they hook pretty good. Wonder about the longevity though more than anything
You wont find a better overall car for the price than a C6. I have a 2010 Base that I got for $17,500. Beautiful, clean car in JSB. Makes 500hp (FBO). Gets 30+ mpg highway, turns heads, and id drive it anywhere it can go. Really cant beat a C5/C6 in terms of overall value for a sports car

Value, of course, is subjective. This is a good one. How a GT car does on long trips is a key factor for me. Still looking.
What add on scoops are you talking about? This a grand sport-everything on this car is factory.
@@SpeedCultureStudios The "scoop" cut in front of the hood and the sccps aft of the door are not on the base car. I think they detract from the styling.
@@edarcuri182 those are features-along with overall wider body that people like the GS for over the see. I think you might be the only one that doesn’t like them lol
I’m the opposite of you-although I like the styling of the base, I feel it lacks some aesthetic touches that could make it much better looking.

C5Z06 in my book. Vids on youtube of the c5 running the same times as the mustang 350r and cost half as much as the grand sport.
I don’t know if the c5z competes with the c6 in a lot of areas though. I know I’ve personally never been a fan of the c5z styling-much prefer the roof line of the base c5

I haven’t strong it all the way to redline, but I would say that’s about right.
Just got a c6 GS and on the way home realized both the paddle shifters say “+” and don’t work, e-brake doesn’t work, the radio randomly switches colors like a mood ring lol pray for me, I’m about to take it to corvette world to see how dumb or smart I am
I got a 07 z51 3lt. And corvette is always big v8. Mustang and carmaro could be a v6. Corvette is always big motor.

The c6 is the best “Looking” HOWEVER the Z06 we’re talking 650/650 at very close to the same weight with most of the nice GS going for 40-50k spend 65 and get the monster instead of “settling”. Again the (wide) body of the c6 remains the best ever but that 650hp 650 torque is enormous…..
On the other side, people say why spend the extra 25k when you can put a fraction of that into the LS3 and have a more reliable engine and make just as much power.

I wouldn't say the GS is the best sports car for the money. Z51 is, GS are usually alot more money and you don't get any more car than a Z51 hardly.
It’s very close, but styling plays into it a lot. Something special about the look of the GS and the dry sump is important when talking about real performance and pushing the cars in the track. And at this point, I think the price difference is negligible considering the GS is going to be several years newer. In other words, comparing the two in 2010, I’d probably agree with you. Comparing them in 2023, I’d say the GS is the better car for the money.

@@rockybalboa2526 I don’t disagree that the ZR1 the superior corvette, but at $80,000-cheapest found in a quick national search-you’re paying over double a very nice c6 GS. If we’re talking bang for the buck-is another 40k on top of a nice GS worth it for a ZR1? I’m not sure it is.

Definitely not even close to the best looking Corvette. The headlights alone disqualify it.
I don't know if I would say it is the "best looking" but it is definitely closer to the best than it is to the worst looking. I didn't like that they went to this style headlight either, but that can't the only thing you see lol. There are far worse looking vettes.
