On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!

This is kind of weird, I thought that Sukhois are more manoeverable than any European fighter out there including the Eurofighter because of their thrust-vectoring capabilities, why did you have such time beating the Eurofighter?

Last year I was hiking up the Old Man of Storr in Skye with my wife. No sooner had we got to the top of one of the pinnacles but a pair of Typhoons came by at head height around 600ft off the ground. Both of them pulled a 90 degree turn no more than 100 metres from where we were stood, so close I could see the pilot's helmets and visors then banked and sped away on full afterburner into the distance! The whole thing was over and done with in less than 10 seconds but it took us about 10 minutes to get our hearing back and about 10 hours to calm down! It was a pretty epic experience and you really don't appreciate the sheer power and speed of these things until you see them up close! Great vid as always GS. Looking forward to seeing more Eurofighter vids soon! :)

The Typhoon is a beast. It’s always amazing at airshows but I watched an interview of an RAF pilot who flew the F-16 on exchange with USAF, as well as Typhoon on aircrew interview (RUclips) recently. He described the Typhoon as an F-16 on steroids which could sustain 9G turns all day. Also the acceleration is incredible apparently.

The Typhoon has a lot of Raptor technology, why it is designated a Gen 4.5 weapon system.

I've watched the Typhoon do some pretty incredible stuff in airshows. That thing really TURNS tight. How it does in the rate fight against a, say, a Viper, I can't tell. But in the radius fight it has to be really difficult to defeat. It certainly turns nose to tail.
What I heard in the fighter pilot podcast is that the Typhoon has a trust to weight ratio that can rival the raptor thanks to being made out of composites.
To compliment its extreme manoeuvrability and energy retention, its also the fastest accelerating and has the fastest climb rate of any fighter in the world afaik. It was designed to intercept things as quick as possible over shorter distances, hence the crazy thrust to weight and delta wings.

Can't wait for a typhoon customer to go for thrust vectoring, this game let's the typhoon down as its main dog fighting ability is it's thrust to weight and ability to sustain 9g turns even supersonic, so it's never likely to go toe to toe in close combat like this. TVN will be a game changer.

I once spoke to a former Italian Eurofighter pilot who had the chance to do BFM against the F-22.
What he told me was that even without external tanks, pods, missiles or any suspendible “gadgets”, the F-22 would win 7 times out of 10. However he told me very generally speaking without giving me too many informations, but with a hard to hide grin on his face “things changed in my favour when we tried with missiles”… that goes to show how capable the Eurofighter is in an actual dogfight
Edit: when I say without any suspendibles what I’m trying to say is they were trying to get the aircraft as light as possible to give it a better chance against the Rapotor

Couple of months ago had a couple escorting a light aircraft that had lost comes fly right over my house at around 3000 feet. They had to zig-zag and fly with their noses up to fly slowly enough to track it...the noise was awesome!

Longshot seems to be getting somewhat more aggressive when he flies against you now. "knife fight in a telephone booth" for sure. One of the best things about your videos, is the fact that you up the external view, and also sometimes the TacView.
As you know, I'm a real world pilot, and for sim pilots, (in my opinion) one of the most difficult things to understand is the 3 dimensional nature of flight and dogfighting. Your videos always display this perfectly. Thanks for another upload, even though I'm missing DCS so bad....LoL.

I love the SU 35 but this video shows that it's not unbeatable. The eurofighter is a deadly apex predator as well and it showed in this video. First thing I noticed is it's performance immediately got into your head. We can see the panic. Longshot did great at making you lose track of him making you an easy shot for Longshot. I wonder also your familiarity with the su35 . I sort of feel it's fighting abilities were a little under represented. That's opinion I'm no fighter pilot and I don't even play this game. I'm just a jet fighter enthusiasts. I watch videos of these planes at airshows all the time and I see what they do in real life. Both of these planes are jaw dropping. They both take alot of laws about aerodynamics and physics and throws them out the window. This was a great video to watch. I wonder does this game allow you to use the ecm package of planes known to be equipped with them like the Su 35 and eruofighter?

India had an exercise with UK I guess where 30Mki went against Eurofighter. Su30mki went 7-1 against the eurofighter.
It’s hard to read too much into this since the Flanker in DCS may be quite far removed from the real-life Flanker (for better or worse, we don’t know).
The modeled Su27P in DCS is the initial first version of the Su27 family, and any mods like these ones are pure speculative as they lack fidelity.
I'm not asking for a Su35S, but would be really nice if they could make a new variant of the Su27, for example the Su27SM3. I guess that aircraft alone would be totally overwhelming but... who knows... I hope someday they'll release it.

I feel like the Su-33 specifically may pose a better threat to the Eurofighter, simply because it has better slow speed characteristics compared to a conventional flanker

@@WillRaben I was thinking cause the only thing that seemed to work is stall-fighting, and I feel the su-33 could cope with that better cause of the larger wings and canards, and maybe dabbling with differentiating the throttles to force more yaw

When u over ruddered in rd 4 I thought it was over for sure. Feel like Longshot misread your speed a lot; you were slow as shit and he just couldn’t or wouldn’t bleed off his speed which led to that overshoot. Maybe the low deck merge with missiles made it that much harder, having always to think about that WEZ

But the battle was on an equal footing, the EF2000 has no advantages over the Su-35. The Longshot was better this time. And In real life, Eurofighter lost during joint exercises with the Indian Su-30, which are heavier than the Su-35 and do not have a controlled thrust vector.

Imagine you are in a formation of aircraft firing at another formation of aircraft. Without the WEZ being a good distance ahead, you would have legitimate concern about any missile looking at a friendly nearby your launch location and shooting them down instead. It is why you call-out "FOX 2!" as you fire the weapon. Every friendly looks around to make sure the missile is not guiding on them or anyone else on their side.

8:04 The last time I saw 2 REAL fighters in such a tight "dance" was in the 1990's. It was combat training way above my city and we could see two F-16 spinning, twisting and turning around each other!
Finally a good example of using that very low speed maneuvrability that we see in airshows in a dog-fight. Guess it only gets to this point when the two aircraft are super maneuvrable. Great video!

I can't help but always root for russian jets, I just love them. Except su 57, they're like AK-47 the JET, they might be cumbersome, not technologically advanced etc, but they have so much character and can still give a good fight in skillful hands. The NATO fighters are the bleeding edge of technology, but russian fighters are designed to defend against NATO with limited resources, so it's really fascinating how they're put together.
The Eurofighter looks a bit oldschool, but the flight capabilities are awesome and far better then most people expect.

@@lb2791 remember that Su30 is more maneuverable and typhoon has to dodge double the amount missiles that it can launch at the enemy.

i wonder if someone plays with a laser-defense system on a fighter jet. blending enemy pilots or ir missiles should work if its semi automatik..mhm, would only make sense in a interceptor, or something like a a-10 (maybe use it with the bord gun vs air target..but then you need on laser eye in front and the back) or can you make glas highly reflectiv vs laser? why has nobody make it so far? you need a good optic and target finder(cpu) to target the laser, both did make gigantic steps in the last 10-5 years, software to. finding a bandit just on sight with like 5-10 miles if you give the sensor a vector..or maybe even more if you have a good guess on the direction. and if you have one laser system front and back, you can laser guide missiles under 10 miles full automatic.
blinded pilot and no tricks to confuse the enemy missle...only pure physical stats to lose the missile, while being blind or have the bandit in your back.
building the prototype for this is even quite cheap, for a "weapon" system.
the micheal from offline tv did make something like this, but for killing bugs or something. and laser defence vs missiles is a thing..blinding ir and pilot should work, only question is range and counters..but with new stealth fighters, a optic targeting system should be made even without the laser defence.
Longshot was unnecessarily aggressive in round 1 but that was still fun to watch.

That round 4 external fight view reminded me of seeing 2 Typhons dog fighting years ago over the North Sea. That's just what it looked liked... well a lot higher than that. They were not scudding around a few hundred feet of the sea.

That euro fighter was very aggressive he didn't let the Flanker catch some breath he went extreme doggy, definitely a nightmare for fighter pilot if he encounter such vicious fighter

One plane does not shoot down the other, it is the missiles that shoot down, and the Meteor that equips Eurofighter, Rafale and Gripen are far superior to any obsolete Russian missile.

So do you have to have your nose pointed at the enemy jet to shoot a middle. Like he has to be shown on the HUD for it to lock on. I figured jets had a much wider range to be able to shoot a missile.
I think the only thing that can go toe to toe with the eurofighter in a knife fight is maybe an F-16. It’s turn radius is just ridiculous.
